Google has started rolling out a new feature to some Android users that will make it the unlocking of a smartphone very easy. The company is adding "On-Body detection" to Smart Lock. The On-Body detection feature make it sure that your smartphone remains unlocked when you are holding your device or carrying it with you. It uses your device’s accelerometer to detect whether your device is still being carried on the body. "If your device detects that it's no longer being held, your device won't stay unlocked," reads Google's note.  When you place it on a table or some other surface, it locks your phone again. The screenshots are apparently from a Nexus 4 running Android 5.0.1 and Google Play Services 7.0.97. The owner says that the feature appeared after performing a factory reset on the device. The device will remain locked when you pick it back up. And if you pass an unlocked phone over to another person it remains unlocked. On-body detection appears to be gradually rolling out now to users running Android 5.0 or newer with the latest version of the Play Services app.

Starting out with laptops, the depth-sensing "Real Sense" technology from Intel has had slow adoption, mainly due to the fact that innovation was mostly around mobile. At this year's MWC, we had seen how Intel is finally Moving Mobile, and as a part of this effort, Real Sense is now available in smaller devices, like the Dell Venue 8 7000 series tablet. We tried to find out what Real Sense is all about, on this device. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gzGUG_oH8I The Real Sense setup at the back of the Dell Venue 8 is intriguing, to say the least. First of all, to bring down the thickness of a multi-camera setup is hard, and to install it in a 6.1mm tablet is even harder. Apparently, the depth cameras are now just 3.5mm thick, so they occupy space at the bottom of the back, on a black strip, below which is the primary rear-facing camera which has all the pixels to record data.  The two Real Sense cameras on the strip are spaced in a way that it resembles the human eye. For comparison sakes, other implementations have had a single depth sensing unit, which worked in tandem with the main camera, but here, the sensing is more ...

Earlier BBM protect was only accessible through Blackberry devices but now devices running Android and iOS can also use the feature. BBM Protected for iOS, Android, and BlackBerry phones uses encryption keys which are generated by the communicating mobile devices themselves. It is part of the BBM Protected IM service which offers the standard IM app-like features along with boosted security. To use the service one can start a Protected conversation on the BBM Protect and even invite non-BBM protected users into the conversation, as long as they have the BBM app on their device. This feature is geared towards business users who once exclusively relied on BlackBerry hardware and software. BBM Protected is available for BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, iPhone, and Android devices. Blackberry claims that their software will save the consumer from 'man in the middle' hacker attacks to provide greater security than other instant messaging apps present in the market.
