With an aim to bolster its Appstore installs, Amazon is said to be launching a new "Unlocked" program, as per Tech Crunch.  This service will offer paid apps and games absolutely free. The report describes Unlocked as "Amazon Prime for apps," and it would offer paid apps for free, and even unlock all in-app purchases for “free-to-play” games. Developers can leave Unlocked, and when they do, users will have to begin paying for in-app purchases again. The document showed off a few examples of games and apps that may be offered through the Unlocked program. Some of the apps and games in the Unlocked program are Sonic Dash, and Monument Valley , OfficeSuite 8 + PDF Converter and Ultimate Guitar Tabs & Chords. It is not clear when Amazon Unlocked will launch, how it will work, where the free apps will be located, and how much it will cost. Moving on the report further adds that Amazon plans to promote Unlocked heavily in its main shopping app — and Unlocked users will in fact need to have that main shopping app installed

Google Glass is not dying says Eric Schmidt

Google's Executive Chairman, Eric Schmidt has dismissed rumors about killing the Google Glass.  He told The Wall Street Journal Google Glass is not dead, in fact it has started. "It is a big and very fundamental platform for Google. We ended the Explorer program and the press conflated this into us canceling the whole project, which isn't true. Google is about taking risks and there's nothing about adjusting Glass that suggests we're ending it." Schmidt told the WSJ. Google stopped the sales of the Google Glass in January and moved the device out of its research lab, Google X, and into a standalone unit. Schmidt added that like all long-term projects that are too futuristic for the present day, Glass will take some time to perfect.  He said that Glass remained "a big and very fundamental platform for Google" and added that just like the firm's self-driving cars, it was a work in progress and will take years to make a final product. The Explorer programme, which gave software developers the chance to buy Glass for $1,500 was launched in the United States in 2013. It was then opened up to anyone and was launched in the UK last summer.

Twitter has started experimenting with auto-play video feature on iPhone and iPad. The autoplay feature is just a test for a small percentage of Twitter’s user base in the U.S. The feature works similar to Facebook's implementation and applies to video ads, user uploaded videos, and clips from Twitter's Amplify program. Videos will start playing without audio. When someone clicks on a video, it will expand to full screen and play with sound. Those which originate in Vine- the 6-second-video app owned by Twitter, will not autoplay under the test run. one part of the two-pronged experiment will provide some users entire videos being autoplayed in loop, while in the other prong, users will see looping 6-second autoplay previews teasing a video. Enabling autoplay for videos in a user's newsfeed could potentially give advertisers and content creators an opportunity to monetize.
