Microsoft Translator app for Windows is getting a major update with Cortana integration, support for Windows Ink, image translation, AI-powered offline translations, and a newly redesigned modern user interface.
It supports 60 languages, across text, voice, image, and Windows Ink translations. Users can listen to the translations, pin translations to view later within your History tab, save the translations to a text file, share translations through email, or any other Windows 10 apps such as OneNote, Skype, Twitter, etc. The live translator feature is available in 10 speech languages and over 60 text languages.
Now you can use Translator with Cortana just by saying “Hey Cortana," and can ask Translator to join conversation ABCDE. The app also features the Phrasebook feature where you can browse phrases and quickly get the human-verified translation. It contains a variety of essential phrases for travel, directions, lodging, dining, and more. It also lets you import documents directly from the Text translation tab and save the translation in a text file.

Facebook's smart speaker has been in the news for quite some time now, the company actually planned to launch it at the F8 event but backed out after the privacy concerns. Now it is said that the company will first launch the smart speaker in the international markets first to avoid U.S. public scrutiny of data privacy issues.

Nokia announced a review of strategic options for the Digital Health business in February 2018. After rumors that Google’s Nest is looking to acquire Nokia’s Health Division, the company today confirmed that plans to sell back its Digital Health business to Éric Carreel, co-founder and former chairman of Withings.
Back in 2016 Nokia acquired Withings, popular for its digital health products and services, for 170 million euros ($191 million) in cash. Last year it re-branded Withings and launched Nokia trackers, scales, vital health devices and home products under its own brand.
Nokia said that the planned sale is part of Nokia's honed focus on becoming a business-to-business and licensing company. The transaction is subject to terms agreed in the negotiations and completion of the information consultation with the Works Council of Nokia Technologies (France) SA., with the deal expected to close in late Q2 2018. Value of the deal has not been revealed.

Telecom Commission on Tuesday has approved the proposal to allow internet telephony in the country as well as in-flight mobile services. With this new approval, users can now make calls to mobile phones as well as landlines using the Wi-Fi broadband. The proposals were approved by the commission chaired by telecom secretary Aruna Sundararajan.
Telecom operators who obtain a telephony license will offer a new mobile number; one that doesn't require a SIM card but can be activated by downloading an internet telephony app. TRAI had recommended the proposal last October, with the aim of giving new connectivity options to consumers in India where call drops are frequent.
This new approval will allow the rollout of internet telephony services by companies such as Reliance Jio, BSNL, Airtel and other operators. Using the app which an operator may offer and the 10-digit number which is like any other mobile telephone number, users can make calls using the broadband. This number will be different from your regular 10-digit mobile number.
However, if you wish to adapt to the same carrier that you might be using currently, then you can have the same number, an official said. The rollout of this service is expected to kick-start in the coming months.

The Center has announced that Aadhaar card is no longer mandatory for getting a mobile SIM, meaning that telecom operators can now accept another form of verification like driving license, passport, and voter ID card. The operators have been asked to follow the directive immediately.
Aruna Sundararajan has said that The ministry has issued instructions to all telecom companies, not to deny SIM card to any individual who does not have an Aadhaar number, instead it asked to accept other forms of KYC documents and continue to issue SIM cards. Telecom operators prior to this notification had made Aadhaar mandatory for mobile SIM purchase.
This new move comes as a relief for those who don't have Aadhaar number especially the NRIs. Though the mobile operators haven't made a comment yet, it is heard that government has taken the new ruling very seriously. This move should also put an end to the telecom operators bombarding users with calls, messages to link Aadhaar card for verification purposes.
Back in March, deadline to link Aadhaar with mobile, bank accounts was extended indefinitely till SC delivers a verdict.

Couple of months back Idea Cellular started roll out of its VoLTE services in Maharashtra & Goa, Kerala, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh & Telangana for its employees in the first phase. Today the company has started commercial roll out of VoLTE services across six circles – Maharashtra (excluding Mumbai) & Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana , and, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh. The company had promised to roll out VoLTE services by the end of 2017.

Samsung introduced its first 16-megapixel CMOS image sensor (S5K3P3) with 1.0μm-pixel size back in 2015. Today the company has introduced a new 16-megapixel sensor with 1.0μm-pixel size in its ISOCELL Slim 3P9 lineup targeted at sleekly designed smartphones. The sensor has Tetracell technology and a Plug and Play solution.
The Tetracell technology merges four neighboring pixels, so that the 3P9 can function as a 2.0μm image sensor for front-facing cameras that can take brighter pictures in low-lit environments, says Samsung. It also has phase detection auto-focus (PDAF) with doubled auto-focus agent density than that of conventional PDAF sensors.
It also has gyro-synchronizer that significantly stabilizes pictures and videos taken while in motion. This syncs frame exposure time from the sensor with movement data from the device’s gyroscope. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 launch might happen very soon as the device is now spotted receiving WiFi certification by the Wi-Fi Alliance. The first benchmark listing revealed a possible 10.5-inch display, Snapdragon 845 SoC, 4GB RAM.
The WiFi certification revealed that the Galaxy Tab S4 will run on the Android 8.0 Oreo and since Samsung is tight-lipped about the launch, this new Wi-Fi Certification evidence says that the new tablet from Samsung is on its way. A couple of weeks back there were reports about the Terminal app being spotted in Chrome OS hinting at future Linux application support. With less than a week to Google I/O, a new settings option for Linux apps has appeared on the Chrome OS Dev channel; titled as "Linux (Beta)," along with the description.
The description reads "Run Linux tools, editors, and IDEs on your Chromebook." Reddit users were able to confirm that they were able to install Steam, however, GPU acceleration is currently broken so it will is unstable at the moment. furthermore, this feature seems to be limited to the Pixelbook, for now. We hope it will roll out more Chromebooks soon.
The support is seemingly found on the Pixelbook which is updated to 68.0.3416.0 version (platform version 10635.0.0). Post the update, there is a new option in the Chrome OS Settings for Linux apps running in a container. Google might change or tweak the user experience before the stable version hits.

Reports and rumors about Walmart acquiring Flipkart go back to a couple of months where Walmart was said to acquire about 40% of Flipkart. A couple of weeks back, it is again reported that Walmart said to acquire 51% stake in Flipkart. Freshly we hear that Walmart might get hold of 73% of Flipkart valued at $16 billion.
Walmart is said to have sealed the deal on May 3rd spending at least $14.6 billion in the cash-and-stock buyout. According to the report, one of the sources said that Flipkart was valued at $20 billion, while other sources said Walmart had put the target company’s value at as much as $22 billion, a price at which it will spend more than $16 billion. In an interesting move, Alphabet, parent company of Google is also said to be participating in the deal with a $3 billion investment.
It is also heard that both the companies have signed tentative agreements after meetings. The sources also confirmed that the deal will be a mix of cash and stock as mentioned above, says the report. “Cash component will be close to 55%, which will mark the exit of some of the largest investors in Flipkart,” sources said.
