Apple’s 2019 iPhones rumored to feature USB Type-C port

Though rumors suggested that last year's Apple's sensation- the iPhone X would sport a USB Type-C port, Apple unsurprisingly stuck to its lightning port. Rumors are again back, and this time it is reported that Apple is redesigning its chargers and related interface for the next-generation iPhone and iPad devices. This means that the 2019 series of iPhones will come with USB Type-C support, according to sources at analog IC vendors. Apple has already adopted the USB Type-C in MacBook series and has also encouraged other notebook vendors to follow suit. It should be noted that the sales of the new models that come with a Type-C port have been affected negatively by a general slowdown in the global PC market. Type-C adaption is slowly on the rise, we are seeing flagships and most notable mid-rangers packing the USB Type-C ports and this change is expected to accelerate other smartphone companies' adoption of the interface in their products. The speculation mentioned in the report is likely referring to the rumors that suggested 2018 iPhones will include an 18W USB-C charger and a Lightning to USB-C cable in the box enabling faster-charging speeds. However, Apple is still in the redesign phase and will not be able to equip the technology in its ...

Android P could bring manual dark and light theme in Pixel launcher

$

With Pixel 2, Google launched an automatic dark theme that changes according to wallpaper color within launcher and quick settings. This is a half-baked move with users requesting Google a dark system theme for years. There is no way you can manually select between light and dark theme. However, this might be changing with Android P release.  The current approach changes depending on the wallpaper that includes dark folder icons, quick black settings, and a dark app drawer. If your background is neutral or light, you get the standard white UI elements. Back in March, a user has added an item to the dev preview issue tracker asking for a toggle choose the theme. Google has apparently taken steps towards it. Custom skins like Oxygen OS had this feature all along, while it is missing from the vanilla Android skin. While it still sounds like it might allow you to leave the theme dependent on your wallpaper, and it possibly will work on other phones with launchers based on the stock launcher3 code, but that's unclear. A Googler has marked the item as fixed in the bug tracker and replied: We have added support for a Dark theme to be applied to quick settings and launcher under ...

Google Chrome browser needs no new introduction and part of the popularity comes from the wide range of Chrome extensions available through the Chrome Web Store allowing users to customize their Chrome experience.  However, Google on its Chromium blog says that they have been receiving large volumes of complaints from users about unwanted extensions causing undesirable changes in the user experience, most of the extensions are available through inline installation on websites. Going back in time, Inline installations were introduced in Google Chrome 15 in 2011, this allows an easy and intuitive way to install extensions. Prior to this change, users had to go back to Chrome Store, install the plugin and comeback, instead, they could simply click the install button for an extension hosted on the Chrome Web Store, all without leaving the webpage. However, this negates the user to know more about the plugins and how to use them and ultimately seen a rise in user complaints and extensions were more likely to be uninstalled. With that in mind, Google now has decided to retire inline installations on all platforms. Users will now only be able to install extensions from within the Google Chrome Web Store, where they can view all information about an extension’s functionality prior to ...
