Samsung has started rolling out Android 5.0.1 (Lollipop) update for the Galaxy S4 (GT-I9500) smartphone in India. It rolled out Android 4.4 (KitKat) update for the smartphone about one year back. Samsung has still not revealed the list of devices that would get the Lollipop update, but it started rolling out the update for Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy S4 users in some markets. It is surprising that the company has not rolled out the Lollipop update for Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3 users in India yet. The Android 5.0 Lollipop update brings all-new material design, quick notifications on the lock screen, enhanced performance and more. When it rolled out the update in Russia, Samsung said that some pre-loaded apps like Google Play Books, Movies and others will be removed to make space. Users can download them Google Play. It also said that the available internal memory will be less after the update. The Android 5.0 update for the Galaxy S4 (GT-I9500) is 991.07MB and is available Over-the-Air (OTA) in India. Benchmarking is considered a somewhat-suspect subject when measuring the performance of a handset but before launch, it can give us a real indication of how well a handset is likely to perform. Samsung's new smartphones - the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge - are both likely to be announced in under a couple of weeks and as we're now seeing from an AnTuTu leak, they could be the most powerful smartphones yet. According to the leak, the Galaxy S6 Edge scored 60,978 which simply put is the best result ever recorded on AnTuTu and by quite some margin; the previous best was the Galaxy Alpha scoring 50,829 and the suggestion of 20% better performance on the Galaxy S6 Edge could whet the appetite of many prospective buyers. As a point of reference, last year's Galaxy flagship, the Galaxy S5, scored 46,557 which, whilst a respectable figure itself, pales in comparison to the purported performance of its successor. In addition to the benchmark scores, the leak also confirms that the SM-G925W8 model sports a 5.1 inch display with Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution and is powered by a 2.1GHz Samsung Exynos octa-core processor. It also supposedly features 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, ...

Another day, another leak related to MWC 2015 and as it seems, yet another leak related to Samsung's pair of new devices - the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Both handsets have appeared several times in leaks recently and the latest leak shows the latter will offer more than just a unique display. The Galaxy S6 Edge has appeared in popular benchmark Geekbench's benchmark database and shows impressive performance that means not only will it offer a unique display but it'll be a powerful smartphone as well. According to Geekbench, the Galaxy S6 Edge is powered by a Exynos 7420 processor and scored 1,492 points in the single-core test and 5,077 points in the multi-core test. The single-core test is somewhat lower than the iPhone 6 Plus and Nexus 9 but the multi-core test shows that Samsung could introduce the world's fastest smartphone yet with the score of 5,077 far surpassing any other result in the database. In comparison, the Snapdragon 805-powered Galaxy Note 4 has a single-core score of 1,054 points and a multi-core score of 3,374 points, which are impressive but slouch in comparison to Samsung's next flagship. The Galaxy S6 Edge which made an appearance at Geekbench is likely ...

Facebook has announced a new feature that will allow users to buy and sell products on its site. The update will let people post for an item for sale on the site. For those unaware, Facebook has a special group dubbed as 'For Sale Groups' that takes care of buying and selling certain types of items. This is similar to the way people put up items for sale on Craiglists and eBay in the U.S. The latest update to the service adds an option in addition to the ‘post’ button inside groups that allows users to share items directly via a ‘sell’  button. Users can add information and describe the item, its price and place of pick-up or delivery. Sellers also have the ability to update a post as still “available” or as “sold,” and see a list of items they have previously sold. The feature could be a boon to small businesses that don't have a large online presence. Facebook said the new features will be rolled out in the coming months to all For Sale groups across iOS, Android, and the Web.

Gionee today sent out invites for its MWC 2015 press conference where it will announce the Gionee Elife S7. The Chinese manufacturer has long been expected to unveil the world's latest smartphone at next month's event in Barcelona but the name of the new handset suggests the company could be of the world's thinnest smartphone race. The race to be thin began with Gionee's Elife S5.5 which has a 5.55m thin body and was then surpassed by the Elife S5.1 (with a 5.15m profile) before the Oppo R5 (4.85 mm thick), Vivo X5 Max (4.8 mm) and Coolpad Ivvi K1 Mini (4.7 mm) all took the crown in succession. The invite to Gionee's MWC 2015 event (as seen above) reveals the new handset will be dubbed the Elife S7 and unless the company has made a drastic change to its naming policy, chances are the Elife S7 will have a 7mm thick body. The suggestion that Gionee are leaving the thinnest smartphone race is further enhanced by comments made by Oliver Sha - the company's head of global marketing - who stated that: "The race to make the slimmest smartphone was getting out of hand. Going so slim is actually not benefiting user experience without ...
