Looks like Google is finally going head-on with Apple in the tablet space, with the just announced Nexus 9 in partnership with HTC. The Nexus 9 comes with a 4:3 aspect ratio screen, unlike all the previous Nexus tablets and hence becomes a legitimate competitor to the iPad mini. Designed in collaboration with HTC, the Nexus 9 features a soft touch back and a metallic frame, lending a premium look and feel for the device. The 8.9" 2048x1536 screen is supported by the 64-bit Tegra K1 Processor that accompanies the monstrous Kepler GPU. This combination reminds us of the recently launched Xiaomi MiPad that has a similar screen aspect ratio and specifications. Google is also positioning the Nexus 9 as a productivity device, with an optional keyboard folio case that magnetically attaches to the tablet. On the surface[;-)], it looks like a neat addition, but only Apple has made money on the productivity side so far through, you know, iPads at work and small tablets have been traditionally entertainment-only. But the primary appeal here is that the device is easy to carry and is also big enough for work. "Work or play" is a common theme if you skim through Google's words ...

Well, you read that right. Apple in an unforeseen circumstance has revealed its next generation tablets. The company has ‘accidentally’ revealed both of its new iPads – the iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini 3 ahead of its tomorrow’s press event. The details come courtesy of an official user guide for iOS 8 in the iTunes store, which has the screenshots of the both tablets ahead of their unveiling. The leaked image reveals that iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 will have Touch ID fingerprint sensors on-board. From the design aspects, both the tablets seem to look identical to their predecessors. However, the tablets are expected to feature the new A8 or slightly more powerful chipset, which means that the performance will scale up significantly. Leaked user guide also hints that the new iPad Air will feature the burst photo capture mode, but there’s no mention of the mini. It’s quite clear that new iPads will come with iOS 8.1 out of the box. If you were expecting the new models to feature a new design language, that we are afraid, you will be left disappointed. We will know more about the iPad Air 2 and iPad ...

Lenovo announced plans to purchase Motorola Mobility from Google in January this year. Now, the company is planning to bring a Motorola tablet in the markets. According to a report from Taiwan, Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanquing has said that the company will build a new Motorola tablet after completing the acquisition by the end of this year. The report states that Lenovo will use a "dual-brand" system in which the tablet will boast either the Motorola or Lenovo name depending on the location where the tablet is being released. Lenovo plans on employing the same branding scheme for Motorola smartphones. Motorola has failed to make its mark in the tablet market as its Xoom and the Xyboard tablets in 2011 did not garner good reviews. But it looks like Lenovo wants to stir the tablet market with Motorola entry as it has become quiet popular thanks to its latest line of smartphones. Unfortunately, the report does not provide any details about the tablet. It will be interesting to see how Lenovo will position Motorola in the current competitive tablet market. via
