A lot of you have been asking us if they White S4 is better than the Black one and vice versa  ,so we managed to get both the colours of the Galaxy S4 in India for a quick photo shoot. Here are some photos comparing the two variants side by side. Samsung calls the Black version - Black Mist although it is a lot closer to blue in reality. The white is called White Frost and is actually white. Both the colours have a small pattern on the back which is very evident on the Black one. The Black is more reflective as you can see below compared to the white one. It is easier to spot finger pints and smudges on the black unit than on the white one which seems to hide it quite well. The Black version does a neat job of hiding those sensors and front facing camera in the phone while it looks very ugly on the White version. Even when you look at both these phones at a close distance , the sensors are more visible on the white unit than on the black unit. Both have backlit keys and pretty much on the same level in terms of ...

Intel today announced the next step of its mobile strategy. The Silvermont architecture is a complete departure from the Clover Trail and Clover Trail+ chips that Intel has been pushing since 2008. With a switch to yearly update cycles, the company hopes to be much more competitive in the extremely hot mobile chipset segment. Based on the 22nm architecture, expect to see the first handsets based on Silvermont early next year while the first tablets running on the new architecture should be here by the end of the year. Silvertrail in specific is the CPU core and is a part of the Baytrail SoC for tablets, Merrifield SoC for smartphones. Without getting too technical, the platform aims to attain three times the performance of current gen Atom chips while consuming up to 5 times less power. Key enhancements include power sharing between GPUs and the SoC IP. The chip can also manage burst frequencies based on thermal, electric and power delivery constraints. Intel plans to follow up Silvermont with Airmont based on the 14nm architecture later in 2014. [Via - ZDNet]

Jonathan Rubinstein more popularly known as Jon Rubinstein is a pretty famous name in the tech industry and famous for heading the iPod project at Apple. He later left Apple to join Palm and was later appointed as CEO. He subsequently joined HP after HP's much criticized  acquisition of Palm. Rubinstein was the person behind webOS which ran on handsets like the Palm Pre and HP Veer and even the TouchPad tablet. He quit HP in January 2012. Jon seems to be  a good addition to Qualcomm considering he's been in the technology industry for over 30 years although it is not likely he will be actively involved in the day to day affairs of the company. Wallstreet might like the move though. Here is what Qualcomm had to say about the appointment. "We are extremely pleased to welcome Jon as a member of Qualcomm's Board of Directors," said Dr. Paul E. Jacobs , chairman and chief executive officer of Qualcomm. "His experience in creating revolutionary consumer electronics and mobile products will provide added insight to Qualcomm's board as we continue to expand the scope and impact of wireless products and technology, improving and enhancing people's lives around the world." Interestingly Rubinstein was appointed ...
