It is also rumored that Google might be launching an accessory called 'Pixel Stand' which is a charging accessory for Pixel 3.  The tear down of the latest version of the Google app reveals a possible first look at the Pixel Stand. A brief animation within the app is currently hidden shows off a phone on a dock going through a slideshow of pictures. While it doesn't exactly show all the details about the product, it does give brief details.   The dock will likely work when the phone is in portrait orientation; lining up with the earlier leaks. The animation further reveals that it will also include some sort of slideshow function; similar to Google Photos “Photo Frame” functionality on smart displays. Another animation in another version of the Google app teases a notification functionality. It shows messages, alarms, calendar notifications, and music. However, the exact functionality is still a mystery. Google is all set to unveil its Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones on October 9th. Source

Google might be testing Color Pop, manual bokeh effects in Google Photos

Google might be testing new Color Pop, along with manual bokeh effects.  as some users are reporting to have gotten the new editing tools The Color Pop keeps the focus of the photo in color and desaturates the rest of the shot. The manual bokeh lets you do something similar by blurring the background instead of desaturated. It also lets you tap to change the focus and adjust the strength of the blur effect. Google is probably testing these features together because the underlying processing is similar. Photos will have to know the difference between the subject and background. This feature will only work with regular photos, not those taken with depth effects enabled. Since it is in the early stages of testing, the feature is currently buggy; the Color Pop seems particularly rough. This means that there might a lot of work that needs to be done before these features roll out widely to everyone. Source | Via

Across price bands, there's no dearth of fitness bands in the market. From basic trackers with no displays and simple step tracking to devices that can follow your runs using GPS and present dozens of metrics to assist your fitness goals. Amazfit recently introduced a number of their products in the Indian market. We reviewed the Amazfit Bip a while back. The latest entrant in the series is the Amazfit Cor, here's our review. Design The Amazfit Cor takes the essentials of a fitness focussed wearable and manages to turn it into a premium looking product, a task that many others have failed at. The simplistic looking band is essentially a central module made of marine grade stainless steel with detachable bands on either side. The core module is slightly curved at the top for aesthetic purposes but maintains a flat profile along the lower half to ensure good contact for the heart rate sensor. The combination of matte grey edges with deep black bezels makes the band look subdued and elegant. Unlike the Mi Band or Fitbit Charge, the Amazfit Cor adds in a 1.23 inch color IPS LCD display which is a huge step up as far as usability is concerned. There's Gorilla ...

Instagram might have just confirmed that Regramming; the ability to instantly repost someone else’s feed post to your followers is “not happening.” This comes after the company is rumored to be testing the feature a while back and this is a good move by Instagram. Earlier rumor suggested that 'Regram' button would appear under the profile picture of the original sharer. Users can regram a post once, it will show a stack of both profile thumbnails of who previously shared it. This feature would help Instagram in widening the content on your feed but would be ideal if Instagram’s algorithm could hide the least engaging regrams. Keeping this in mind, CEO Kevin Systrom shared his views saying: We debate the re-share thing a lot. But really that decision is about keeping your feed focused on the people you know rather than the people you know finding other stuff for you to see. And I think that is more of a testament of our focus on authenticity. The ability to share or repost someone else's post to your feed instead of sharing something original of your own could make Instagram a lot identical to Facebook and this would bring the possibility of fake content getting ...

Apple earlier this month had launched the iPhone XS and XS Max smartphones with OLED Super Retina HDR display and the iPhone XR with Liquid Retina Display. DisplayMate Technologies which is known for their accurate and in-depth evaluation of smartphone displays has completed its comprehensive evaluation of the iPhone XS Max and rated it as the 'Best smartphone display.' It describes the 'Color Accuracy' of the iPhone XS as "truly impressive," achieving a score of 0.8 JNCD (Just Noticeable Color Difference) for the sRGB/Red.09 color gamut. The 0.8 JNCD for the wider DCI-P3 color gamut used by 4K TVs and digital cinema. Both results are termed "visually indistinguishable from perfect," and is likely to be better than most monitors, TVs and other visual output devices on the market. Furthermore, the screen is extremely bright and with low reflectance, which makes it extremely useful for readability, picture quality, and color accuracy in ambient light. The iPhone XS max has a record high calibrated 100% APL full-screen brightness of 660 nits for sRGB and DCI-P3 color gamuts, while the home screen offers 725 nits.
