Chrome 69 will remove ‘Secure’ label on HTTPS sites in September

Google previously announced that it would start displaying “not secure” labels to HTTP sites back in February. Google shows the secure label for sites with HTTPS in its address bar so to make users feel that the web is secure by default and needs no indication.  Google intends to warn users when there’s an issue, meaning that the default unmarked state is secure so, Google is marching towards removing Chrome’s positive security indicators.  Chrome will roll this out over time; it will start by removing the “Secure” wording and HTTPS scheme with Google Chrome 69 that will roll out in September 2018. Since the usage of HTTP was high, marking all HTTP pages with a strong red warning became tedious, but in October 2018 (Chrome 70), Google will start showing the red “not secure” warning when users enter data on HTTP pages. For those who are not familiar, HTTPS is a more secure version of the HTTP protocol used on the internet. This also reduces the risk of users being vulnerable to content injection or any other phishing attacks. Google with the release of Chrome 56 that was rolled out in January 2017 started marking HTTP pages as not secure when data is being entered. Source

RED, popular for its high-end cameras back in July last year had introduced the RED HYDROGEN ONE. Though the initial launch date was Q1 2018, after delaying it for a while, the phone is finally coming to AT&T and Verizon in the USA and Telcel in Mexico in August. Pre-orders will ship about a month before the official launch date. The phone was opened to pre-orders back in July 2017 for a price tag of $1,200 and is now delayed until August. However, the company's founder Jim Jannard said that the delay is giving RED more time to work out carrier certification. With the phone heading to two largest carrier networks, the explanation does make sense. RED HYDROGEN ONE is the world’s first holographic phone with 4-View technology that can display 3D content without glasses. It sports a 5.7-inch holographic display and features a pogo pin system that allows you to add stackable modules to the phone giving it a modular touch. There is a USB Type-C port on the bottom and the 3.5mm audio jack. The RED HYDROGEN ONE will be displayed at the future of entertainment through a demo at AT&T SHAPE at Warner Bros. Studios in Los Angeles on June 2-3. However, for now, we don't have ...

Alphabet Inc’s Google says that an India anti-trust ruling that found it to be guilty of search bias could cause “irreparable” harm and reputational loss to the company. To refresh your memory, Indian Antitrust watchdog has fined Google Rs.135.86 crores back in February.  The firm slammed Google for abusing its position in online web search and has also slammed the company for preventing its partners from using competing search services. However, Google opined that the ruling raised only “narrow concerns” and in its plea challenging, the company opined that the impact could be far greater. According to the plea, the order said: "Google required to change the way it conducts business in India on a lasting basis and the way it designs its search results page in India." Among the other things, Google was asked to stop imposing restrictions on its direct search agreements with other publishers. However, Google says that allowing the CCI’s findings implemented without proper scrutiny would cause the company 'irreparable reputational loss” seeking a stay on the ruling. Google managed to get a partial stay on the ruling from India’s company law tribunal, allowing it to deposit only a small part of the imposed penalty. This isn't the first time Google is facing something like this, ...

Instagram's news feed algorithm always makes it hard to determine when you have finished viewing all the latest posts. However, it looks like Instagram is now planning on fixing it as the company is testing a new 'You're All Caught Up' which will let users know when all the unseen posts from the last 48 hours have been viewed.  The feature was first spotted by TechCrunch, and an Instagram spokesperson has confirmed the same and is showing up to limited test group users. However, it is unclear if it would show all the posts from followers or would just show the top picked posts by the algorithm. Interestingly, this feature is part of the time spent’ Usage Insights tool which it confirmed to be working last week. This feature will show users the time they spend on the Instagram app. The new You're All Caught Up' feature should put an end to the unhealthy users endless scrolling and also would help users not miss a post from their friends, family. It would also reduce the time spent on the app for users. The current news feed algorithm was rolled back in 2016. While Instagram did confirm that it is testing the feature, it didn’t confirm when the feature would ...

Google constantly and consistently keeps pushing updates to its flagship apps, and today it is the Photos app. The app has received the ability to mark photos as favorites with stars and hearts. This makes it easier to view all the favorited pictures in one place instead of scrolling through numerous pictures. As you would expect, once you are starring pictures, a Favorite album is created, this feature is rolling out later this week to everyone, so if you don't see the Star icon just yet, don't panic, it is coming. At the I/O early this month, Google introduced a bunch of new AI features including the AI-suggested quick edits, color pop, and the ability to colorize old images. Twitter rolls out its own Twemoji emojis on Android

Twitter is rolling out its own Twemoji on Android, and this will replace the native emojis previously shown from Google and Samsung. This new emoji set looks to be targeting users on Android 7.x and below. After facing numerous cases of missing emojis on older systems, the new Twitter's own Twemoji on Android will now be a fresh breath of air. The slow adoption rate of new Android releases has been a major concern for Google. While this issue is nothing new, the lack of new emoji support for years after a release really highlights the issue for users. This new move by Twitter will bring the app in line with the emojis seen on Twitter.com (mobile and desktop), as well as TweetDeck. It is also worth noting that emoji implementation has been done using Google's own EmojiCompat library which is created by Google back in 2017. This allows apps to support new emojis even on old systems. Twitter is now using the same tech to implement Twemoji designs for pre-8.X Android users. This really is a welcome change for users who are stuck with older Android version. Source
