Instagram is aiming to move past from just being called a place to post pictures and videos as the company is now said to be working on bringing voice and video calling features. According to a report from TechCrunch, the social media giant is on the verge of introducing the calling function as there are multiple references for voice and video calls in the latest Instagram for Android alpha release.
Apart from calls icons, several layouts that mention calls and video calls are found in the Instagram's Direct standalone app’s Android Application. this news falls in line with the earlier reported video calling function which was found in the navigation bar in the private chat. With the introduction of voice and video call, Instagram has a very good chance of replacing Snapchat. References to video calls have also appeared in the iOS version, according to an image posted by a Twitter user.

Samsung announced Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones with variable aperture cameras. Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphones in four color variants in India on 14th February. The smartphone duo went on sale for the first time in India on 22nd February and company claims to have sold over 3 lakh units under 3 minutes followed by a 2nd sale on 28th February, but only Black and Gold variants were available in both sales.
Also, only 4 GB RAM variant of Redmi Note 5 Pro was made available in both the sales and company said that 6 GB RAM variant will be available on a later date. Now, Rose Gold and Lake Blue variants of Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro are listed Flipkart. Also, in a reply to a comment on Facebook, company has promised some surprise in upcoming sale on 7th March.

It seems like Xiaomi will put all four color variants of Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro on sale starting 7th March. Flipkart has not listed 6 GB RAM variant of Redmi Note 5 Pro yet but Xiaomi might put it on sale very soon.

Google Drive is always clumsy with shared files especially if you are using G Suite business applications. Google with the latest update is aiming to clean up the mess by using its artificial intelligence. It will now organize the “Shared with Me” section so you can also see people listed, along with files they’ve shared with you.
You can click on a document to quickly open it and you can also Search for content by the owner which is now the most popular way to search for files in Drive. This means that the revamped interface will use AI to predict which files and file owners you're most likely to access. The interface will now show "quick access" on the right corner top which shows tiles for different people with files that they have shared with you.
Down below, you will see the shared files in your account, that are organized whichever way you want. This update will be rolling to all G Suite editions and end users in the next two weeks and the company is promising to roll out more AI-powered optimizations in the coming months.

Netflix today has rolled out a couple of key new features including PIN protected parental control, more prominent ratings and more. The update is available on many devices and across most global markets in the coming months.
First off on the list is the new PIN protected parental control for individual movies and series. This feature will give parents more specific control over what children can watch. Netflix also says that it is offering differing perspectives on what the parents feel is appropriate to watch at different ages. While Netflix already offers PIN protection for all content at a particular maturity level, this new addition will provide parents with an additional tool to make decisions they are comfortable with.
Furthermore, Netflix will now display more prominently the maturity level rating for a series or film once a member hits play on a title. The company says that it wants to ensure that the members are fully aware of the maturity level before they begin watching. The company plans to make this information more descriptive and easier for the members to understand with just a glance.

Huawei's Honor brand today confirmed that it will introduced Honor 7C, a budget version of the Honor 7X in China on March 12th. The invite confirms 5.99-inch display, dual rear cameras, dual SIM slots and several color variants for the smartphone. The phone recently passed through TENAA with model numbers LND-TL30 and LND-TL40 that revealed the specifications.
TENAA listing shows metal body with plastic finish on the top and bottom parts of the back where the antennas are present. There is a fingerprint sensor on the back.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 5 Pro in India on 14th Feb, and released the OTA for enabling face unlock in last week of February. On visiting Mi Community this morning, we came across few posts in which users reported the Low sound output from headphones issue, on further research we observed that many users are facing this issue and are seeking a resolution from company.

Airtel today announced a strategic agreement with Gulf Bridge International to unlock the capacity on GBI’s India-Middle East-Europe submarine cable system. Airtel will now acquire the ownership of the India leg of GBI’s India-Middle East-Europe submarine cable.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphones in India last month, which went on sale exclusively on Flipkart as well as Mi.com from February 22nd, and the company said that over 3 lakh units sold out within minutes. ARM today announced the Mali-G52 and G31 GPUs and Mali D51 Display processor and Mali-V52 video processor. The new set of IP seamlessly integrates with the existing DynamIQ-based CPUs and other Arm IP. The Mali-V52 VPU enables 2X decode performance, real-time 4K60 video performance.
The ARM Mali-G52 is the successor to the G51 GPU and is 30% improvement in performance density, 15% better energy efficiency, and a 3.6x increase in machine learning workloads. It utilizes wider execution engines with up to 8 pipelines compared to the four on the predecessor to provide greater graphics performance in the same silicon area.

Last week Xiaomi confirmed that it will introduce the Mi MIX 2S powered by Snapdragon 845 on March 27th. XDA recently uncovered some of the specifications of the phone. Now they have revealed more features of the phone, including support for Qi wireless charging, making it the first Xiaomi smartphone with the feature.
The render of the smartphone placed on wireless charging pad revealed through the firmware could be the Mi MIX 2S that is expected to have similar design as the MIX 2 on the front and the front camera is present on the bottom right corner of the phone, similar to the Mi MIX and MIX 2.
Even though earlier renders showed dual rear camera arrangement in the middle, a new image of the phone has surfaced showing the dual rear cameras with the flash in the middle, similar to the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
The firmware also reveals "Shot on MIX 2S AI Dual Camera" watermark revealing AI features for the camera. ARCore support has also been confirmed via the firmware, so this could be the first Xiaomi smartphone to support ARCore.

Samsung has released the new Galaxy S9 and S9+ Experience demo app for Android. The Experience App basically offers a close insight into how and what it feels like using the latest Samsung flagship phones. The company did the same with the Galaxy Note8 last year as well.
The app contains a number of videos and details outlining the key features of the S9/S9+. It consists of four main sections; New Camera, S9 Accessories, Helpful Applications, and Device Specifications. The camera section demos the super slow-mo camera, AR Emoji, and more.
The S9 accessories section offers information about the useful first-party peripherals. The Helpful Applications section details about the useful applications like the Samsung's Smart Switch and App Pair utilities. The device specifications offer detailed features and configuration of the S9 and S9+ and also lets you compare them with older Galaxy devices. The app is very polished and offers a seamless experience for users to get a taste of the S9 and S9+.

Google at the annual American Physical Society meeting in Los Angeles has introduced the Bristlecone quantum computing processor with an aim to provide its researchers a testbed for into system error rates and scalability of its qubit technology. It is also expected to bring applications in quantum simulation, optimization, and machine learning.
Google's Bristlecone chip features 72 qubits and uses the same technology as company's previous 9-qubit linear array technology which demonstrated low error rates for readout at 1%, single-qubit gates at 0.1% and lastly two-qubit gates 0.6%. In order to investigate the applications and most importantly quantify a quantum processor’s capabilities, Google's theory team designed a tool which can be used to assign a single system error by applying random quantum circuits to the device and checking the sampled output distribution against a classical simulation.
If the quantum processor can be operated with low enough error, then it can easily outperform a classical supercomputer on a well-defined computer science problem, which is an achievement known as quantum supremacy. It is believed in the industry that it takes 49 qubits to achieve quantum supremacy, but Google cautions that a quantum computer isn’t just about qubits.

Google in order to take on Paytm and WhatsApp has now integrated the new chat option in its Payments app; Tez. Currently, it has over 13.5 million active users and it runs on Unified Payments Interface. The feature is initially rolling out in batches.
The new option allows users to quickly chat within the app alongside sending and requesting money. With WhatsApp testing its Payments feature, Google has an edge with the new Chat option and no limit in transactions like WhatsApp. However, it is not available to everyone right away, but will gradually be available in batches.
The chat function will only be accessible if both parties are running the latest version of the Tez app on their mobile devices. The dedicated chat button is present right next to the 'Pay' and 'Request' buttons. It has options like block contacts or disable any particular chat thread. Paytm, on the other hand added Inbox button back in November with features including share photos, videos, and location and recall sent messages.
Google's spokesperson in a statement said:
We’ve added a feature to Tez that allows you to send simple messages back and forth to your contacts about the payments you make.
