Sales increased by 11.46% to 2,672.3 billion yen compared to the same quarter last year due to strong growth in its Gaming and Networking division, Semiconductors and others.  Operating profit increased to 350.8 billion yen year-on-year from 92.4 billion yen, making it Sony’s highest third-quarter profit ever, due to improvements of operating results in the Semiconductors and G&NS segments. The company shipped 4 million smartphones, compared to 5.1 million a year earlier. It has also reduced full year smartphone shipment target to 15.5 million from 15.5 million units.   As a result, it has reduced its sales forecast by 40 billion yen to 740 billion yen. Samsung Galaxy S8 Active with Android 8.0 Oreo gets Wi-Fi certification

0

Samsung ended the Android Oreo 8.0 beta testing for the S8 and the S8+ last week and both the flagships are expected to taste the Oreo update anytime now. It's obvious that the update at some point will make its way to the S8 Active as the company promised earlier. However, the new development shows that the rollout is not that far away. The Oreo powered Samsung Galaxy S8 Active has been spotted in a certification listing at the Wi-Fi Alliance. Though the update might not be imminent once Oreo lands for the S8 and S8+, but the new development indicates that the wheels are in motion. Since the S8 Active is a carrier exclusive device which also happens to be a non-AT&T exclusive model, the carrier testing takes a sweet amount of time before the rollout begins. Both variants; the SM-G892A for AT&T and SM-G892U for T-Mobile and Sprint have been listed for certification at the Wi-Fi Alliance with Android 8.0 Oreo onboard. As we said, this doesn't mean that the update will be rolling out soon, but it's just a confirmation. Source 1, 2 | Via

Apple investigating iPhone X incoming calls delay glitch

0

Some users of the iPhone X took it to the Apple support community, Twitter, and Reddit to complain about a glitch that is causing a delay in the incoming calls. The small number of iPhone X units that are affected are not turning on the display for a brief period when receiving a call despite ringing.  Hundreds of iPhone X users are now facing the issue resulting, hard resetting the phone isn't helping either. With display not turning on for a brief 10-seconds time, it is preventing users from tapping the accept or decline button thus resulting in a call miss. It is also learned that the issue started popping rightly after the X was launched in November. The latest iOS 11.2.5 update doesn't seem to fix the issue, and it looks like the glitch is affecting iPhone X with iOS versions back to at least 11.2. However, Apple responded saying that it is looking into the issue. So we can expect an update pretty soon. The company is likely collecting user data from affected customers so that it can acknowledge what's causing the issue. iPhone X earlier suffered from a weird green line on the screen, temporary unresponsiveness in cold temperatures. Google introduced new Material Design alongside the Lollipop OS back in 2014. The material design introduced flat, pastel color palettes, depth, soft lighting, and the design later is being unified to all Google products. Microsoft introduced the Windows 10 S back in September aimed at computing with Chromebooks and education customers restricting them to running Microsoft Store apps. However, the company is now said to be ditching the S OS for a new  “S Mode” for Windows 10 Home, Enterprise, and Pro according to Neowin. Essentially, the new S-mode will lock down any copy of Windows 10, so it can only run apps from the Microsoft Store. Basically, it does what a Windows 10 S dedicated OS should do. According to a report, Microsoft claims that 60% of users remain on Windows 10 S, instead of switching to Windows 10 Pro free of charge. But, if they do switch, it is within 24hrs of having the device, but if they don’t switch in the first seven days, 83% remain running in S mode. Windows 10 S will no longer be an SKU offered by Microsoft. Instead, they will offer the S mode for all iterations of Windows 10. Microsoft is reportedly planning to let Windows 10 Home S users upgrade to the Home Mode free of charge, however, Windows 10 Pro customers with S Mode enabled will have to pay $49 to get access to a full version of Windows 10 ...
