Quick Heal Security Labs has detected an Android banking trojan; Android.banker.A9480 which is said to be targeting more than 232 banking apps which also includes the apps offered by Indian banks. Like other banking trojans, even the Android.banker.A9480 is designed with the aim to steal login credentials, hijacking SMSs, etc.
The trojan is being distributed through a fake Flash Player app on the third-party store, and it is not very surprising considering Adobe's flash player is one of the most widely spread products on the Internet. Once the malicious app is installed the phone, it requests for Administrative rights and if even if a user rejects or terminates the process, it keeps throwing pop-ups until the user activates the admin privilege.
The app then goes into hiding once the user taps on it.Once the icon is hidden, it looks for all the installed apps especially from the 232 apps that include banking and some cryptocurrency apps. If the trojan finds any one of the apps from the list of 232 apps, it throws fake notifications duping targeted banking app. if a user clicks on the notification, they are shown a fake login screen to steal the user’s confidential login details.

OnePlus introduced its flagship OnePlus 5T smartphone in Midnight Black variant, later it introduced the Lava Red edition of the smartphone in China, which was followed by the Star Wars Limited Edition in White finish that was launched in India last month. OnePlus started teasing a new Sandstone version of the OnePlus 5T smartphone recently, now the the Sandstone White version of the phone has been listed in jd.com and the bookings will begin at 10AM China time.

Vodafone and Airtel, two of India's biggest service providers, today announced a strategic partnership with Samsung for cashback offers on select Samsung Galaxy J-series smartphones on monthly recharge of Rs. 199 and Rs. 198, respectively.

Dell ahead of the CES 2018 event has introduced the XPS 13 laptop with a refreshing new design that features InfinityEdge 13-inch display that fits in an 11-inch frame. It is powered by the 8th gen Intel Core processors with a 4K display on the 13-inch model. The company claims that the XPS 13 looks as good as it did on day 1 even on day 1,000.
Dell says that the laptop because of its woven glass fiber stays cooler to facilitate longer performance. At 1.22kg, the Dell XPS 13 is one of the lightest 13-inch laptops in the market. The 10.or D has a 5.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 by 720 and a pixel density of about 282 ppi (pixels per inch). It has 400 nits brightness so the display is bright, colors are vibrant, viewing angles and the sunlight legibility are good as well. It has bezels, above and below the screen. Apple just announced that apps and games were the bigger part of the holiday season in 2017 as the App Store has hit a record $300 million in purchases on New Year’s Day 2018. During the week of Christmas, a record number of iOS users made purchases from the App Store spending over $890 million in the seven-day period.

Split screen was one of the major features that Google announced with android Nougat back in 2016, but some smartphones launched in late 2016 and early 2017 didn’t get the Nougat update. Xiaomi rolled out the Nougat update to Mi 5, Mi Max, Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 4 devices in second half of 2017 but core Nougat features like Split Screen and Quick Switch were not available (to Stable ROM users) until the announcement of MIUI 9 back in November.
Redmi Note 3, Redmi 3S/Prime/Plus, Redmi 4/Prime (Chinese variant) are the Xiaomi devices launched in 2016 which are running on Marshmallow and despite being a capable hardware, users of these devices are not able to enjoy features like Split Screen and Quick Switch. Now, it seems that Xiaomi is working to enable Split Screen feature for these devices, a post from MIUI China Forum admin says:

Samsung is currently beta testing the Oreo build for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ and the stable update is due for later this month, and now when no one was expecting, a Note8 Exynos variant has randomly got the Oreo update according to a Samsung retail store employee. It is very unusual since the company never expanded the Oreo build to Note8.
The Reddit user claims that it is the device customers can 'touch and experience' indicating that it is a display piece at a Samsung store. The screenshots posted by him shows the build number as N950FXXU2CRA1.DM with Galaxy Experience 9.0. Since it is not a beta firmware, it must be an internal test build of Oreo for the Galaxy Note 8.
The update also brings January 2018 security patch and other Oreo OS based improvements and features. It doesn't look like it is a soak test either, as it is not Samsung's style to release major firmware updates to a few people ahead of a public release just for testing. This week Meizu confirmed that it will introduce the M6s smartphone on January 17th, which will be called Meizu S6 in China. Today images of the smartphone has been revealed by TENAA that shows the phone's 18:9 aspect ratio screen with minimal bezels. Reliance Jio launched Happy New Year 2018 plans with 28 days validity for Rs. 199 and Rs. 299 with 1.2GB per day and 2GB per day data, respectively. The Samsung Notebook 7 Spin (2018) sports a 13.3-inches Full HD PLS touchscreen display and can be used as a tablet or as a traditional PC in landscape mode. It has 256GB SSD drive. The Notebook runs on Windows 10 with support for fingerprint login through Windows Hello.

On one hand, Intel is having a hard time fixing the Meltdown and Spectre Security Vulnerabilities that affected processors from the past 10-15 years, the company is now hit with three separate class-action lawsuits by plaintiffs in California, Oregon, and Indiana who are seeking compensation.
These security vulnerabilities could allow hackers to steal sensitive data and the fix as reported earlier might lead to a performance drop. However, Intel then quickly responded saying that any drop in performance is negligible and Google-backed by saying the fix implemented on its affected servers has seen a negligible impact on performance.
However, the plaintiffs who filed the legal lawsuit didn't satisfy with Intel explanation. The first class action complaint was filed January 3rd in United States District Court for the Northern District of California and the other two lawsuits according to Gizmodo, were filed today; one in the District of Oregon and another in the Southern District of Indiana.
All the three lawsuits cite the Intel's failure to timely public disclosure and the supposed slowdown of purchased processors. Though Intel claims that the performance drop is negligible and says that the performance penalty is not as significant as the reports suggest.
