Nokia India has introduced buyback offer for the Lumia 1020 smartphone. The company first introduced Buyback offers for the Lumia 520 and Lumia 620, and later extended it to the Lumia 925 and Lumia 625. In the Nokia Lumia Smart Buy Back offer users get Rs. 13,500 discount on Lumia 1020, in exchange for old smartphones. Since Nokia offers discounts on MRP of Rs. 49,999 instead of MOP, so the effective price after the discount is Rs. 36,499. Nokia still continues the offer on the Lumia 520, 620, 625 and the 925.

Google has updated its Translate app for Android to version 3.0 that brings a complete new user interface that is much cleaner and simpler. The Karbonn A15+, successor of last year's Karbonn A15 is now available from online retailer Saholic. Motorola has surprisingly updated the Moto X to Android 4.4 really quick and the OTA update just showed up on our AT&T unit which we have been happily using in India.The Android 4.4 KitKat update for the MotoX is about 326MB in size and bears the version number 140.44.5.en.US. The update was pretty straight forward and came in as a Over the Air update and installation took about 20 mins to complete. Motorola had already started rolling out the update for the Verizon version.

HTC unveiled the limited edition 18 carat Gold HTC One last month. Now the company has announced the Gold colored HTC One, in addition to the already existing Silver, Black, Blue and Red colors. Apple introduced the iPhone 5s gold edition recently, BlackBerry launched the Q10 Gold Edition and even Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S4 Gold edition in Gold Brown and Gold Pink colors for select markets.
Apart from the gold color, it has all the features present in the original HTC One, including the Ultrapixel camera with HTC Zoe, dual front-facing speakers with HTC BoomSound and more. The phone has brushed metal body in gold color with black accents on the sides, just like the other colors.
The Gold HTC One would cost similar to the standard HTC One and would go on sale across Europe with a number of partners. It reportedly expected to go on sale in Finland December 12th. It is not clear if we can expect the phone in the Asian countries.
As the first phones get the Android 4.4 KitKat update, Samsung and HTC have both begun preparing for the roll out to Google Play Edition devices. Samsung has posted the kernel source for the GPe Galaxy S4 online at its open source website. The download size of the source is 399MB and has all the open source parts of the update. These bits will only be of use to developers as it is not available as a full system image yet.
HTC too has published the kernel source as well as framework files for the Google Play Edition HTC One. For those keeping track, the software version is 3.58.1700.5 while the Kernel release is 3.4.10. HTC has already submitted the KitKat ROM update to Google and users of the Google Play Edition of the handset should expect to get the update shortly. These files are of interest mostly to developers. The file size is 371.7MB for the framework while the Kernel source is 99.8MB. The Google Play Editions of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One are essentially the same as handsets as the standard version but they run a stock version of Android and hence get faster updates.

LINE corporation, a Japanese-based company has announced that LINE has crossed over 300 million users worldwide, since its launch in June 2011. Back in June Whatsapp announced that they have crossed 250 million active users, LINE just says that they have achieved 300 million registered users. LINE was launched in India in July, and at that time the company claimed that they had 180 million users. LINE India says that they have reached 10 million users in the first 3 months after the launch, and plans to grab 20 million user share by the end of 2013. The company has posted an infographic that shows the growth of the users in numbers.
The Line messenger was released in Japan in June 2011, later it was expanded to range of countries. The company reveals that out of 300 million, over 80% of are non-Japanese users from Taiwan, India, Thailand, Indonesia and Spain. It took 19 months for the company to achieve the first 100 million users, 6 months for the next 100 million, and only four months between 200 million and 300 million users, says the company. LINE messenger is available for range of platforms including, iPhone, Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry and Nokia Asha feature phones.

Design, Build Quality and Handling
Unlike most phones in its price range, the Spice Pinnacle Stylus feels quite solid despite an a plastic dominated build. The phone definitely feels quite huge and that is mainly because of its 5.5inch display. Though it feels quite solid to hold, it tends to be on the heavier side for most people.

UK-based Inq Mobile has released SO.HO, a social app for Android smartphones earlier this year. The app brings all the social feeds – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc into one homescreen, that lets you conveniently view all the updates in a single place. The app is seamlessly integrated Android launcher app, and lets you tweet, update your status, ‘like’ and comment direct from your homescreen easily. It supports range of languages including Hindi.
The launcher allows you to experience a rich and full screen version of your social networks. You also have individual Facebook, Twitter and Instagram feeds. INQ is popular for its social apps, but these apps are not longer available.

Futuremark released the 3D mark Android benchmark app earlier this year. Since a lot of mobile manufactures are said to be cheating to show up higher scores on several benchmarks, the company has released a new update and has also announced that the company would delist devices that are suspicious. When a device is suspected of breaking our rules it is delisted. 3DMark scores from delisted devices should not be used to compare devices.
