Intex Aqua i7 Review

0
0
The mid range smartphone market in India is insanely competitive to say the least. We have been seeing tons of companies make affordable phones with some of the specifications that are usually only reserved for the top end phones. But due to the same cut throat competition, we have also been seeing many similar devices, with common attributes like the display and the chipset. In that sense, the current market trend is this - a 5 inch 1080p display and a MediaTek 6589T processor. The Gionee Elife E6, the Micromax Canvas Turbo and of course, the Intex Aqua i7 are all part of this trend, improving upon the 720p screen based phones earlier. But is it really worth the effort and upgrade? We find out in our review and are going to see if the Aqua i7 delivers the usual promise of "more for less". Box Contents Intex Aqua i7 In-ear earphones with mic Micro USB cable Travel Charger Flip Cover that replaces the back User guide and Warranty card The box contents are the usual except for the Flip Cover that we increasingly notice in big screen phone boxes these days. Here's our unboxing video of the same - httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmJUUpl5sLM Hardware Walkthrough The design of the Intex Aqua i7 is ...

Starsports.com and Twitter have partnered to offer in-stream videos on starsports.com for Twitter users, without leaving Twitter. As part of the partnership, whenever a link to starsports.com is tweeted, Twitter users on mobile will have the option to download the starsports.com application. Once the mobile application is installed, they will be able to open the app directly by clicking the tweeted link, to watch the video. Earlier this year, Starsports India introduced an option for the Twitter users to receive tweets from the Twitter account as texts.  The in-stream video service was rolled out for videos that form a part of the Sachin Memory Project – a unique initiative by starsports.com to commemorate his retirement. Over a 100 curated videos dating back to the 1980s would be available as part of this initiative on a timeline that marks how his career has evolved, even as the world changed around him, says the company. Regarding the new initiative, Ajit Mohan, Head of Digital Business, Star India, said, starsports.com is the leading multi-sports destination on digital in India. We are keen to continue to engage the most ardent sports fans in the country and our partnership with Twitter is a continuation of that commitment. Making these videos available ...

Does the Moto G lack the WiFi Hotspot feature ?

We were all excited about the Motorola Moto G which is a $179 unlocked Android device with some really impressive specs for a phone in that price band. It is even coming soon to India as early as Jan 2014. But today something caught our attention on twitter. While responding to a user's query , Motorola's official account did mention that that the Moto G does not have the WiFi hotspot feature ! Now this is interesting because the Moto G runs on pretty much stock Android with no custom skin . But Google did disable WiFi hotspot in the Nexus 7 3G 2012 edition so this is not something totally new.  This might be a move to prevent backlash from American carriers as they would require a tethering plan for the same. But the device itself costs only $179 without a contract so paying a premium for a tethering plan does not make any sense. Here is the conversation which took place on twitter between Motorola Mobility and user Logan who seemed to have a doubt about this feature. But before you vent your anger against the company , there might be some good news too. Thanks to our dear friend ...

According to Reuters, it said "We do not comment on what any of our partners, customers or potential customers are doing and we do not relate to rumors or recycled rumors." If the rumors are true, the 3D motion sensing technology could come to Apple's devices including iPhone, iPad, and MacBook.  The report says that Apple bought the company to improved smart  TV project, and PrimeSense had been saying since 2011 that it was exploring TV integration for its motion sensing tech. So it might also be used on the first smart TV from Apple. Official confirmation of the acquisition is rumored to be announced later this month.

The Phablet is priced at Rupees 14,999 and was launched earlier this month. Check out the unboxing below. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXKiUiYCxMY Let's see what else comes in the box. A basic white box with a slide out tray for the large phone. Backside highlights key features of the phone like 2600mAh battery, large screen size, screen resolution 1280 x 720 pixels. First impression of Xolo Q2000 is surprisingly good. Looks smart with a glossy polycarbonate framing for the screen and a matte finish back cover. The 13 Mp camera stands out with a single LED light. There are several extra inbox accessories. An extra screen protection stick on cover. There is a flip cover of the same polycarbonate material. Looks exactly like the back cover of the phone. But this cover does not fit onto the phone.  Instead, it replaces the cover and becomes a part of the phone body. It's a smart accessory. Does not add to the thickness of the phone. However, flap hinge doesn't appear to be of quality that will let the  cover last long. So much for freebies. A rather ...

How to setup an ad-hoc WiFi network on your laptop for any Android phone without root

0

After some digging and going though a lot of paid apps to share WIFI hotspot, I have stumbled upon a very simple way to share your Laptop WIFI as ad hoc (Infrastructure mode) and use it on any Android phone without having to root and install a custom ROM that supports ad hoc like CyanogenMOD. Usually out of the box, Android doesn't support Ad-hoc unlike iOS and Windows Phone (due to unknown reasons) and will require you to either root the phone and edit the build.prop file or install a custom ROM. As we know these are absolutely not for beginners (atleast for now. Wait for the full CM installer). So for the time being, follow these steps to create a WPA connection just using your cmd (Command prompt) 1. Start > Right click on My Computer > Manage > Services and Application > Services > and turn on Internet Connection Sharing (Will be set to manual, change it to automatic) 2. Right click on the network icon on the taskbar > open network and sharing center > Change Adapter settings > Find the current internet running adapter (For eg. if its the Ethernet, select the Ethernet adapter) > properties > sharing > allow sharing 3. ...

The device, at 3,468 Yuan = 570 USD = 35,700 INR is set for a global December availability. But even then, the sticking point for many, including users from India, has been the local availability and customer support. It looks like Oppo is planning to fix that because they have just hinted in their forums, regarding their Indian plans for availability and customer support. This is a big step for the Chinese company which has, so far, concentrated only on its home and US/European markets. Q - Just today, in the morning, I went on Oppo's site.
