Qualcomm announced its own smartwatch known as the Toq at its annual developer conference UPLINQ 2013 in San Diego just before IFA 2013 in Berlin and we were lucky enough to meet folks from Qualcomm at IFA including Rob Chandok who is President of Qualcomm Internet Services and SVP of Qualcomm Technologies. We were indeed surprised that we could get our hands on the Toq Smartwatch. This Smartwatch seems pretty interesting compared to other similar products like the Samsung Galaxy Gear and Sony SmartWatch 2. Qualcomm has been working on the product for over 2 years and this is evident from the build quality and design of the product. Feels very premium and thought out. The best part is the Mirasol display which translates to great battery life and sun light visibility. Watch our hands on video below - httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhfcQKLuSQQ Here is a Rob Chandok from Qualcomm giving us a demo of the Toq Watch httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVCkXFSWNvM In terms of the specs , the Toq features a 1.55 inch touch Mirasol color display. You can turn on front lighting if required by tapping on a area which would come in handy in extremely low light situations. The device is completely buttonless and is operated only ...

Oppo R819 Review

Oppo, a relatively new player in the Smartphone world, had already impressed us with the beautifully made Find 5, its current flagship device. But as any company that looks to expand its portfolio, Oppo has sought to address the mid-range market, which brings volume as well as the ability to reach more people. The R819 is a step in that direction. Armed with a 4.7 inch 720p display, a super thin 7.3mm profile and an 8 megapixel camera, the device is a decent cut-down in specifications when compared to the Find 5, literally in every sense, including thickness and weight. Oppo is now getting into the very similar yet extremely crowded mid-range category, but does the R819 impress enough to stand out? Read on for our fully detailed review below. Note: Check out the 360 degree view of the Oppo R819 before proceeding towards the full review! Design, Build and Ergonomics Unlike the Find 5 and its minimalistic design, the R819 takes it to a more conventional form factor. With rounded corners and tapered edges, it invokes a "Have I seen this somewhere?" reaction. The device is available only in white and since the bezels are also white, the display, the front ...

FIFA 14 is set for release in the next week across consoles and PC, but today we EA released the FIFA 14 app for iOS as a free app in the App Store, but only in New Zealand. The game has been released as a free game, but to unlock features and extras in-app purchases come into play. The game comes as a 1.16GB download and requires at least 1.35GB free space on the device for it to be installed. Unlike other EA Games which thwarted the gaming experience with in-app purchases for everything, things seem to have taken a different route this time. There are two types of in-app purchase - one which involves buying in-game currency for unlocking specific features and the other in which the user pays a on-time 5.99$ for "Premium" mode which unlocks kickoff, Manager and Tournament modes. Currently, the game is available only in NZ and it is not yet available in any other App Store. The release of its bigger brother - FIFA 14 for consoles and PC is slated for next week and this could mean that this is just another soft launch. Soft launches gives the developers a way to publicly test their ...

Another year, another Nexus smartphone and another bar story. The relationship between bars and yet to be announced phones never ceases to amuse the internet folks. A couple of weeks ago, just ahead of the IFA, Google announced their next version of Android - 4.4 KitKat with some theatrics and "accidentally" showed off the next Nexus smartphone in their video. Recent images from FCC filings have also identified the same device and it shows stronger evidence of a new Nexus device. Yesterday, a Google employee supposedly left a Nexus 5 device unattended while it was put for charging in a bar(Yes, you heard it right, A bar) and an employee of the bar was able to make a quick video and get a couple of images of the supposed Nexus 5. The images show that the device is quite identical to the one spotted at FCC filings and the one Google showed off in their video. It has the Nexus logo at the back in horizontal orientation and there is a huge camera which was seen in the video. There is a LG logo at the bottom and a Not for Sale text above it. The design language seems to be ...

Alongside the Galaxy S4 earlier this year, Samsung announced their new range of cases, which included the S-View cover that comes with a unique window on the front. The S-View cover offers a glance at the clock and notifications and was the first to be used in that way. At IFA we managed to grab a look at the official Quick Window case for the LG G2, which comes with a similar touch window in the cover to display information at a glance. With LG also launching their accessories range, how do the two covers compare? Both covers feature a window that displays information at a glance - thanks to clever technology allowing both LG and Samsung to turn off the part of screen that is covered, these smart covers can work without effecting the battery life too much. Where as Samsung have gone for the horizontal offering the phone's UI itself, LG have created a custom smart cover UI where you can swipe up and down to go through the options. On the back, both covers feature cutouts for the camera module and LED flash. The LG Quick Window also has a cut out for the LG G2's power and volume keys ...

Windows Phone retains the position as India’s second largest smartphone OS with 5.4% marketshare

It's been almost an year since Windows Phone 8 launched, but the growth has seen a spike only recently, with the Nokia Lumia 520 becoming the most popular Windows Phone, not just in India, but the world. India has definitely been a tough market to crack for anything other than Android. Even with the huge marketing and retail push by Nokia, the most trusted brand in India for quite a number of years, Windows Phone is just at 5.4% of the whole Smartphone market. With iOS and BlackBerry contributed even lesser, Android rules the market with more than 84% marketshare at least. The second place has been maintained for the past three quarters but the only thing that is new, is the marketshare value which has increased 60% QoQ. The Windows Phone platform has actually outgrown the market at 60% which is an increase above the ~55% growth the Indian market boasts. Nokia now has a wide portfolio of Lumia devices in India, right from Lumia 520 to Lumia 925 and soon the Lumia 1020, but even with this portfolio, the company has struggled to gain marketshare in double digits. We expect that Microsoft will be putting its marketing muscle behind ...

Nokia has released the above picture on its social media channels, signaling an event in the middle east(likely Dubai or Abu Dhabi) on October 22nd, presumably for the Lumia 1520 Phablet and the Nokia Sirius Windows RT tablet launch. This news comes after rumours that Nokia might delay or cancel some of its products after the Microsoft deal, which makes some sense as some products may overlap within the same company, but if the teaser is to be believed, we will definitely see the Lumia 1520 at least, with the Sirius launch now a big question mark. The Lumia 1520 is purportedly the company's first phablet sized device, with a 6 inch screen and a 1080p display. We had already seen various leaks detailing the device, which supposedly runs on a Snapdragon 800 processor, with Windows Phone GDR3's extra column of tiles and other new additions. There is also a 20 megapixel camera that is supposedly inside this device, which is also christened with the PureView name. The specifications seem to be nice, but the teaser reveals nothing other than the date, so we are not really sure what Nokia is upto with regards to other devices, nor can we notice ...
