Sony Honami is probably the most awaited Sony smartphone now and with IFA just around the corner, we have nearly all the information about Sony's upcoming flagship camera smartphone. The Sony Honami has leaked various times suggesting its specifications and its G lens 20.7MP camera along with Bionz Image processor. Today, we have rumored specifications of its brother, the Sony Honami Mini .   The supposed Sony Honami Mini, codenamed as Ray 3, will be smaller version of the Honami. The specification of the Honami Mini are expected to be on par with the original Honami. It will feature the same Snapdragon 800 SoC clocked at 2.3GHz, 4.3inch HD display, same 20.7MP camera, 16GB internal storage and 2400mAh. Sony has been kind enough to include a microSD card slot in its recent phones and we hope that the trend continues. According to rumors, the Sony Honami Mini will not be launched alongside the Honami at IFA in Berlin, but it is expected by December or January. The Mini isn't really a downgrade in terms of processing power or camera, but just the same package in a smaller size. Unlike other companies like HTC and Samsung, whose Mini version of flagship phones are downgraded in ...

Samsung to introduce 12 inch tablet says Korea Economic Daily

A report published by the Korea Economic Daily states that Samsung might be about to announce a 12 inch tablet as soon as October. The Daily mentions that the company has been engaged in development of the tablet which will dwarf Samsung's 11.6 inch tablet. The 11.6 inch tablet is currently Samsung's largest tablet.  The new report corroborates another report earlier this year that mentioned that Samsung plans to introduce a tablet around the 12 inch mark. It is believed that it'll have the same screen resolution as that on the Nexus 10 ie 2560×1600. This would make it one of the most crisp displays out there. Interestingly, Apple is also believed to be working on a larger tablet of their own and this could be seen as Samsung's move to compete with Cupertino for that audience. [Via - Cnet]

Over the past few days, a rumor has been circulating around the internet that the next iPhone 5S is expected to come in a whole new color combination of Gold and Champagne. Photos of parts of the new iPhone 5S Gold/Champagne have been spotted on the internet and KGI Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has also said that the iPhone 5S would indeed be available in Gold. Before the iPhone 5S pictures have leaked in Gold, BGR claimed to have photos of the iPhone 5S in Champagne colors and they have uploaded pictures of the same. The picture of the Gold iPhone from a French site MacBoutic has no iPhone branding and Apple on the back. It seems to have been blurred out or either this was a pre-production unit without a logo and branding. Rene Ritchie of iMore has also said that there have been various rumors regarding a gold option for iPhone 5S and he believes it will be true. He has been accurate in the past with iPhone rumors. The new iPhone 5S is expected to be unveiled at the rumored September 10th event that Apple has scheduled. Via Report Contributed by Monish Kumar

Beats Electronics, popular for Beats audio by Dr. Dre is looking to buy out its Asian partner HTC and bring in a new investor, according to a recent report from the Wall Street Journal. Beats partnered with HTC back in August 2011, in which HTC invested $300 million for a 50.1% majority stake in Beats Electronics. HTC started launching devices with Beats audio branding starting from October 2011. HTC sold back half of its stake to Dr. Dre in July 2012 at a loss of about $5 million, now HTC  still has 25% percent stake in the company. According to WSJ, Beats is  in talks with an investor that could provide debt financing and possibly take a minority ownership stake in the coming weeks. Earlier this summer, Beats tried to raise $700 million buy out HTC’s stake and pay down debt but was unsuccessful, says WSJ. Even though HTC reported about $41 million of net profits in Q2 2013, it expects their first ever operating losses in Q3 2013. HTC recently announced Robert Downey Jr. as its new brand ambassador with its "Change” ad campaign. Beats Electronics is planning to expand their business into speakers, audio systems in cars, consumer electronics and an online streaming music service. Source: WSJ

Sony used to be one of the innovators in the mobile industry until Samsung took over the Android smartphones campaign. Ever since, Sony has been struggling to make a mark in the market. Sony's flagships have always been short of the competition, but Sony realized that quite soon and was one of the first to bring 5inch Full HD displays to the market with their Xperia Z. The Sony Xperia Z was meant to breathe life into a lineup that was not worth mentioning otherwise and Sony did succeed(relatively) with its Xperia Z. Samsung on the other hand realized that it needed to step into the 6inch + category and hence we have the Galaxy Mega 6.3 that packs relatively lower spec sheet. Lets check out how the recently released Mega 6.3 competes with Sony's Xperia Z that was released more than 6 months ago. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GQE6CmBca4 Design and Build Quality The Galaxy Mega 6.3 is reminiscent of any other Samsung Galaxy phone of the recent times and has an all plastic build with a plastic aluminum running across the device. The Sony Xperia Z, on the other hand, has a rectangular industrial design with glass at the back and solid edges. The Xperia Z looks ...

We just saw Oppo reveal their latest smartphone, the R819, an effort to make a well engineered smartphone that's not too hard on your wallet. Speaking of your wallet, we have just been notified that the R819 is now available for pre order in three countries, namely Australia, Japan and Hong Kong. For 399$ in AUD, the device seems a bit pricier for the specs, but since this is just a pre order price, we reserve judgement until Oppo reveals their global price in USD. People from Hong Kong can get it for HK$2,798 and the Japanese can get it for 36,000 JPY, all from the third party retailer online retailer Expansys. Update: The official Oppo Style site has now listed the R819 for a 349$ USD(roughly converts to 21K INR) pre order. As noted earlier in our announcement post, the R819, also known as the Find 5 Mirror in Thailand has a really thin build, measuring at just 7.3mm and weighing in at 110g. HTC One Max spotted with fingerprint sensor

The HTC One Max is hardly a secret with multiple leaks pointing towards an IFA release. The latest such leak suggests that the handset might have a fingerprint sensor on the back panel. There's not much else to go on here but expect to be able to unlock your device by touching the fingerprint sensor. Additionally, it should be possible to lock your image gallery and other applications via the sensor. The development is almost certainly a result of persistent rumors that the next generation iPhone will pack a fingerprint sensor. HTC is said to have added the module very late into the development cycle. The LG G2 was also rumored to ship with such a sensor but that instead turned out to be the power key. The proliferance of such sensors could have serious ramifications for mobile security and payment authentications. ePrice, ie the source of the image, was initially skeptical but claims to have corroborated the rumors with highly placed sources. The rest of the specifications of the handset should include a 2.3Ghz Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 4 Megapixel Ultrapixel camera and a 5.9 inch Full HD display. [Via - Cult of Android]

Google has begun a staged roll out of the long awaited update to its YouTube app for Android. The update brings along a major redesign to the application and brings a lot of feature additions as well. Some of the major improvements include the updated card based interface. There's in app multitasking that lets  you turn any video that you might be watching into a small window while you navigate the rest of the app. No, this does not work across Android which is a shame to say the least. A simple upward drag of the window brings up the player screen. We're particularly impressed by the transitions  and the app was silky smooth through and through on our test HTC One device here. There are a lot of subtle additions and changes all around and some of the more noticeable ones include shifting the HD and CC buttons into their own menu. You no longer have to switch to landscape mode to toggle HD playback. The application also follows the global rotation settings. The app version is 5.0.21 and will be available on your device via the Play Store over the next few days. Do let us know if you spot ...

Only yesterday we saw Oppo reveal its latest smartphone, the curiously named R819. After a critical success of the Oppo Find 5, which we think is one of the best Android hardware available on the market, the company has sought to reach lower price points with a smaller and a more mid-range device. We see the R819 as Oppo's effort to claim volume as encouraging market results have cropped up at home. And surprise! We've already got the R819 here in our labs and here are our first impressions of the device in detail, read on! Note: This is a pre-production device, not the final retail unit. Thin and Light. These two words are probably the most used adjectives in the world of smartphones, but they totally belong with the Oppo R819. Measuring just 7.3mm in thickness, the device is among the thinnest in the world, only bested by the company's own Finder and a few other devices. It also weighs a lot less, at 110g, which, we think is almost perfect for a good handling of the device because it's neither too less to make it seem hollow nor too heavy to make it uncomfortable. The iPhone 5 is less heavy, ...
