Samsung Galaxy S4 packs a Octacore Exynos Processor in India

0
0
Samsung launched the all new Galaxy S4 amidst much fanfare in Kingdom of Dreams, Gurgaon today, in India near New Delhi. Like we had expected, Samsung has not launched the Snapdragon 600 powered version like in other LTE markets including USA and Europe. The Galaxy S4 variant launched here in India will pack the Exynos 5410 Octa-core processor developed by Samsung using the ARM big.LITTLE architecture. One of the main reasons behind the decision is lack of LTE networks at this time in India and demand for the LTE version in markets like USA and Europe. Although the Samsung Exynos 5410 supports all LTE bands, it was reportedly due to demand that the LTE markets got the Snapdragon 600 variant, and India being a non-LTE nation as of now, gets the Octa-core variant. The Exynos 5410 system on chip is Samsung's latest and greatest chip that has eight processing cores as the branding suggests. Four cores are of the Cortex A15 type running at 1.6 GHz, meaning they are the ones that will be doing all the heavy lifting for the intensive tasks while the Cortex A7 cores, which are the remaining four running at 1.2 GHz, are used for the ...

Huawei and ZTE too have seen immense growth, with local market driving their sales. Nokia has slipped out of the top five, and so has the situation been for the past year. Apple is far behind Samsung with 17.3% marketshare, while Samsung is enjoying a big lead at 32.7%. Total mobile phone shipments though are different. Samsung leads again with 115.0 million units, which means that they have shipped 44.3 million feature phones whereas Nokia, at 61.9 million units has sold 56.8 million feature phones, ...

Skype had been telling us that they are indeed working on an app for Blackberry 10, and they have fulfilled that promise by releasing their ubiquitous voice, messaging and video calling app for the newly launched BlackBerry Q10, albeit in preview form. Note that this app is not native to the platform and is the Android app directly ported over to support BlackBerry's emulation layer. It has launched just for the BlackBerry Q10 as of now, with optimized support for that screen size. As expected, all the features including voice calls, messaging, video calls etc work on the preview app, and it is just the same Android app in terms of UI and feature parity. It also has support for contacts integration with the BlackBerry phonebook, which helps you view Skype related info on the phonebook and initiate a chat instantly from inside. Currently the app is available only for the BlackBerry Q10 and it is said to arrive on the Z10 once it gets the BlackBerry 10.1 update. You can download the Skype app for Blackberry 10 here. Skype is said to make the app better and want feedback for the app in its current form, so tell them? Source Skype Blogs

Celkon, known for its cheap value for money Android phones, including its new A119 Signature HD that we reviewed recently, has been spotted of selling its new low end Android device, the Celkon A62 on Snapdeal. The device comes with a huge 4.7 inch screen, with a resolution of 854x480 pixels. While it may not sound really exciting, we must remind you that it costs Rs. 6,799/- which is probably one of the few devices that have a huge screen at this price. Lets take a look at the overall specs of the device - 4.7 inch 854x480 Dual SIM GSM+GSM 1 GHz Dual Core processor with 512 MB RAM 10.4mm thick and weighs 109g 8 MP rear camera, 2 MP front camera Android 4.0.4 ICS Internal Storage - 512 MB with micro SD up to 32 GB FM Radio and BT 3.0 The specs look decent for the price, but the internal memory is definitely a concern. Cameras seem to be pretty nice on paper but performance is unknown unless tried out. Overall, we think the market is still gravitating towards higher screen sizes in all the price points, and higher resolution too. Only six to eight months ago, it was a rarity to see WVGA screens below the ...
