MapMyIndia introduces Maps API

RCOM appoints Srinivas M as Tamil Nadu and Kerala Wireless Business head

Reliance Communications (RCOM) has appointed Srinivas M as Circle Business Head, Wireless Business for Tamil Nadu and Kerala. He will be based out of RCOM’s Chennai office and will report to Ramesh Menon, RCOM’s National Head for GSM Operations, said the company. Samsung Orbis smartwatch to feature Exynos 7420 SoC

We already know that Samsung has been working on a round dial smartwatch that is dubbed as Orbis. Now some more details about the smartwatch have surfaced. A report is stating that the Orbis smartwatch will be powered by Samsung's own Exynos 7420 processor. This is the same chipset that is used in recently launched Galaxy S6 processor. The main reason for installing the powerful processor is to achieve better battery life.  Meanwhile, in same related news, Samsung has filed for a patent with rotating bezel that will be used for navigation on the smartwatch. Previous reports had stated that Samsung's Orbis smartwatch will not have calling capabilities but the Tizen powered OS watch can decline and accept incoming calls. It is also stated that the smartwatch will support wireless charging.

Google Play gets age based app rating system

Google Play has introduces age based rating system for apps and games in Google Play Store. The new system will allow app submissions to be reviewed by staff and enable developers to complete a content rating questionnaire for each of their apps and games to receive objective content ratings. "We know that people in different countries have different ideas about what content is appropriate for kids, teens and adults, so today’s announcement will help developers better label their apps for the right audience. Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge UK pre-orders begin March 20

Samsung has announced that both the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge smartphones would be available for pre-order in the UK from 20th March 2015, ahead of the on-sale date of 10th April 2015. It will be available for pre-order from high street retailers and operators including Vodafone, Carphone Warehouse, Three, EE and O2 that were confirmed already. Both the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge have a 5.1-inch Quad HD (2560×1440 pixels) 577 PPI Super AMOLED display, powered by a Octa-Core ( Quad 2.1GHz + Quad 1.5GHz) Exynos processor, features 3GB DDR4 RAM and run on Android 5.0 (Lollipop),. These have a 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, OIS and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. These have Cat.6 LTE support. The Galaxy S6 has a 2,550mAh battery and the Galaxy S6 Edge has a 2,600mAh battery. Motorola launched the Moto E (2nd Gen) in India earlier this month and the smartphone went on sale on Flipkart last week. At the launch Motorola promised that it will sell colorful bands and covers for the new Moto E soon. Now these are available from Flipkart. At the the launch of Moto E (2nd Gen) Motorola confirmed that it will launch the 4G variant of the smartphone in India soon. Now the 4G variant (XT1521) is listed on Flipkart as 'Coming Soon' without a price tag. The Grip back cover for Moto E (2nd Gen) protects the device from bumps and drops. It comes in Turqoise, Yellow, Black, Blue and Raspberry colors and is priced at Rs. 899. OnePlus One price to increase in Europe from March 25

OnePlus has announced that it is increasing the price of OnePlus One smartphone in European countries that uses euro as currency. This change is due to falling value of the Euro. The OnePlus One 16GB variant that sells for 269 Euros will cost 299 Euros and the 64GB variant that now sells for 299 Euros will cost 349 Euros after the hike. This will be effective from March 25th, so those who are ordering the phone till open sales next Tuesday will be charged the old price. Regarding the increase in pricing, OnePlus on the official blog, said: This is something that we opted not to do, as we are committed to maintaining razor-thin margins in order to give the most value back to our fans. Unfortunately, as the value of the euro continued to drop, our razor-thin margins began to turn into 0 margins. Due to the current value of the euro, we are now selling devices at a loss in the EU. Samsung introduces 128GB 3-bit eMMC 5.0 flash memory for mid-range smartphones

Samsung has introduced 128 gigabyte (GB), 3-bit NAND-based flashed storage based on Embedded MultiMediaCard (eMMC) 5.0 technology targeted at mid-market smartphones and tablets. The company has already introduced 128GB flash memory based on Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 2.0 and eMMC 5.1 standards for top-end and premium smartphones.  Mid-market smartphones will now be able to increase their storage capacity to 128GB as well with the new , says the company. The new 128GB eMMC 5.0 would offer sequential data read speed of 260 MB/s, similar to MLC NAND-based eMMC 5.1 memory. It can handle random data read and write operations up to 6,000 IOPS (input/output operations per second), four times faster than external memory card and 5,000 IOPS, 10 times faster, respectively. 3-bit NAND storage was only used in SSDs for data centers, servers and PCs, now it has extended it to the entire mobile memory storage market with the 3-bit eMMC 5.0 line-up. The company says that it will continue to develop 3-bit NAND Flash memory offering higher-performance and in higher densities.

Google Docs for Android gets full screen reading view

Google had updated Docs for Android that adds a new feature. The new update makes it easier to read and review documents without any editing options.   The new version brings the capability to review a document in full screen mode. Aas you scroll through an opened document, editing icons will vanish to the top that will let the text take up the full screen. In order to edit something, you will simply need to double tap the screen or press the blue pencil action button. Google is also adding few other updates to Sheets and Slides. Microsoft has released Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 10041. The company has announced that the Build 10041 will be available for preview users. "We’re rolling out Build 10041 for PCs to the Fast ring. Like all of the previous preview builds this one comes with a collection of new functionality and bug fixes. YouTube update adds ability to search for 4K videos on Android

YouTube has updated Android app with a couple of features and minor tweaks. The latest update bumps the app to version 10.10 and brings an important update related to 4K videos. The YouTube app for Android is getting the ability to search for videos with 4K resolution. With the latest update, users can search for the 4K videos using filters. An icon has been added in the top right-hand corner of the app that will bring up the video filter when tapped. Different types of video filters including HD, 3D, Closed Captions, Creative Commons, and Live video types are seen in the list along with the 4K option. The latest update is not live for all the users yet although Android Police has provided an APK for the update.
