Huawei Mediapad X2 hands on

Huawei launched the MediaPad X2 phablet earlier this week at MWC 2015. It is the successor to last year's MediaPad X1. We went hands on with the phablet and here is walkthtough at the specs and hardware. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nXVRBLnWo0 The Huawei MediaPad sports a 7-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) IPS display and is powered by a 2.0 GHz Kirin 930 64 bit octa-core processor. Running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) with Huawei’s own Emotion UI 3.0 on top, it comes with 2GB / 3GB RAM, 16 GB / 32GB Internal storage, microSD card slot. It has a 5MP front facing camera with earpiece. There are three on screen touch buttons. On the right side the phablet has micro SIM card slot, power button, volume rockers and microSD card slot. At the bottom it has a micro USB port along with the microphone while at the top it has a 3.5mm audio jack. It is 7.28mm thick. The plastic cover has a Honor branding at the center. The 13MP rear camera comes with LED flash. The loudspeaker grill is present on the right side. It has a 5,000 mAh battery. Honor 6 Plus and new budget 4G smartphones launching in India late March

Honor, the global brand under Huawei today announced at the MWC that it will launch the Honor 6 Plus smartphone and a range of other 4G devices in India soon. It recently announced that it will launch the Honor 6 Plus in the UK in partnership with Three UK. Honor devices that were launched in India back in October 2014 on Flipkart received overwhelming response from the customers. The success of Honor products like Honor 3C and Honor 6 has reinforced its commitment, said the company. Huawei recently appointed Zhao Ming as the CEO of the Honor business who was the Vice President of Huawei’s Western Europe Region. Regarding the launch of new flagship device, Dragon Yin - President of Honor International Business , said Honor was launched last year in Western Europe and the success in these markets has made us optimistic. Xolo has unveiled Q600 Club, the company’s latest smartphone in the Q CORE Club series. It has DTS audio, External PA and comes with special box Speakers that promises powerful audio experience. Huawei announced the Talkband N1 wireless Bluetooth headset at MWC 2015. It is claimed to be the industry’s first Hi-Fi stereo and Bluetooth headset with the ability to play music stored on it. We went hands on with them at the event so lets take a closer look. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_55g7B44cE The TalkBand N1 is a Bluetooth stereo and also works as a fitness tracker. It can play music as well as keep a track  of your burnt calories. Similar to any earphones, the earbuds are connected to a cable that goes around your neck. The earbuds have built in magnets so they stick to each other. They are thicker than the original headphones. There is a USB port that lets you store upto 4GB of music or upto 1000 music files. Huawei TalkBand N1 has equipped the gadget with high-grade speakers and AptX codec support. It comes with a controller that can be used to access music and take calls. The Talkband N1 will only track basic movement  like counting steps, distance walked and calories burned, when paired with a smartphone. Sony announced Xperia M4 Aqua waterproof smartphone at MWC 2015.  We went hands on with phone at the event so lets take a look at the hardware and specs of the device httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKlIAO2xCe8 The Xperia M4 Aqua sports a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display, is powered by a 1.5 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. Running Android 5.0 Lollipop, it has 2GB RAM, 8GB / 16GBinternal memory, up to 32GB expandable memory via microSD card. There is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 88-degree wide-angle lens, 720p video recording. Also there are three on screen touch buttons. The left side has a micro USB port and micro SD card slot. Google Chrome 42 to be the last update for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

Google will no longer bring an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The company has announced that Chrome 42 will be the last update for Android 4.0. "In the last year, we’ve seen the number of Chrome users running ICS drop by thirty percent.Developing new features on older phones has become increasingly challenging, and supporting ICS takes time away from building new experiences on the devices owned by the vast majority of our users." posted Aurimas Lutikas, Software Engineer, on a company blog. People using ICS will just get security updates for Chrome after version 42 is released. Users running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and later will continue to get major new versions of the browser. According to latest Android distribution table, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is present on 5.5% of devices.

BBM for Android clocks 100 million Google Play downloads

BlackBerry has announced that BBM for Android has surpassed 100 million Google Play Store downloads. The popular messenger from the company was launched on Android and iOS in October 2013. The BBM app for Android has received some 3.7 million reviews from Android users with 2.4 million of them giving the app five stars. BlackBerry said that users has sent more than 1 billion stickers that it is close to achieving one billion “virtual goods impressions” in the BBM Shop monthly. It must be noted that 100 million are just the install numbers and not the active users for BBM Messenger. Earlier this week, BlackBerry updated BBM for Android with ability to create a custom 6-8 digits alphanumeric PIN. Also, the messenger now supports Android Wear.

Instagram introduces clickable ‘carousel ads’

Instagram first started showing ads in the U.S in October 2013 and expanded ads to UK, Australia and Canada in June last year. Today the popular photo sharing app bringing clickable ads to its platform. "One way to look at it is carousel ads bring the potential of multi-page print campaigns to mobile phones – with the added benefit of taking people to a website to learn more. For instance, a fashion company could use the carousel to deconstruct the individual products in a ‘look.’ A car company might share an array of different features of a vehicle and provide a link to learn more about the new model. The increase price could be the result of increase in excise duty on mobile phones imported into India, which was increased to 12.5% from existing 6% in the recent Union Budget. Facebook Slingshot gets ‘Explore’ feature

Facebook has added a new feature to its self destructing messaging app Slingshot. The app is getting a new explore mode which allows users to find people to follow. "As we grow, many have asked for an easier way to discover other creative people around the world. We wanted to do this in a fun way that puts the focus on people and helps create new connections within our community." posted Slingshot on a blog. The Explore mode can be accessed using a new button which appears at the top of the application. The new tab will feature users that are active on Slingshot. Explore is an opt-out feature and users can choose not to be visible on it and can change the settings. Officially launched on Android and iOS in June, Slingshot enables user to send disappearing photo and video messages. The app received update in December with new tools and features.

Twitter likely to buy live streaming app Periscope

Twitter is in talks with a live streaming app Periscope, according to a report from TechCrunch. Periscope allows users to stream video from their smartphones to their followers in real time. As per the report, the talks are in early stages and the possible deal might be worth around $100 million. However,a different source has completely contradicted the figure, saying the deal is only a fraction of what is being speculated. If the acquisition is a done deal, it would facilitate users to fire up live video wherever they are and broadcast it to allow people to watch it. While Meerkat and Periscope are working on same principles, Perisocpe seems to be a more refined version of what Meerkat. Twitter has always been focused on real time updates and the live streaming app will be a great and suitable addition to the micro blogging platform.

The phone sports a 5.2 (1440×2560 pixels) AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and is powered by a 2.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 5.0 Lollipop update starts rolling out in India

Samsung has started rolling out Android 5.0 (Lollipop) update for the Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900) smartphone in India. It rolled out Android 4.4 (KitKat) update for the smartphone back in January last year. Samsung started rolling out KitKat update for Galaxy S5, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 users in some regions last month. The Galaxy S4 got the Android 5.0.1Lollipop update in India last month. The Android 5.0 Lollipop update brings all-new material design, quick notifications on the lock screen, enhanced performance and more. After the update the available memory will be decreased by minimum 950MB, says Samsung. The Android 5.0 update for the Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900) is 837.27MB and is available Over-the-Air (OTA) in India. It should also be available via Kies soon. The company has not rolled out the Lollipop update for Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 users in India yet.

Motorola announced the Moto E LTE (2nd Gen) last month.
