Xiaomi introduced the Mi 4 smartphone back in July last year, which went on sale in India earlier this month for Rs. 19,999. The OnePlus One was announced back in April last year and it went on sale in India in December for Rs. 21,999. Both the smartphones are competitively priced and share some similar features such as processor, RAM and camera You might have already seen the photo gallery comparing the Xiaomi Mi 4 and the OnePlus One. Now let us compare both these smartphones in detail.

Let’s start with the display. The Mi 4 has a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display with a pixel density of about 441 PPI and has Corning Concore glass protection, while the OnePlus One features a slightly larger 5.5-inch (1920 ×1080 pixels) Full HD display with a pixel density of about 401 PPI and has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Viewing angles, brightness, contrast, sharpness, color reproduction and sunlight legibility are equally good in both the smartphones. Slight difference in the pixel density is not noticeable.

WhatsApp started rolling out its most expected voice calling features for Android users few weeks back. We managed to get an invite for this feature. How to enable it? Let us find out. Before that check out the video demo of the WhatApp voice calling feature.

First, update WhatsApp to the latest version by heading to whatsapp.com/android. Then, wait for a call from someone who already have the calling feature to call you to unlock it. Once you have the calling feature, you can call other contacts to enable calling for them. If they have an older version of WhatsApp the call will not go through and will say that your friend needs to update the app to receive WhatsApp calls.
There is a technique on XDA forum to enable the calling feature on WhatsApp if your phone is rooted, but according to some it only brings the calling UI. Anyway you can try your luck if you are willing to root your phone at your own risk.
The call quality was decent on WiFi, similar to Skype, but on 3G and 2G it was not the best. This might be due to early roll out, and is expected to get better during public roll out. WhatsApp calling feature is currently available only ...

Few days after releasing couple of video teasers for its next flagship Galaxy smartphone, Samsung has released a image teaser and a new video teaser that shows the side profile of the Galaxy S6 smartphone. This shows its sleek profile and its curved corners. Check out the short video.

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge at the MWC, which is just a week away. The Galaxy S6 is rumored to come with a 5.1 inch Quad HD display, Octa-Core Exynos 64-bit processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, Android 5.0 (Lollipop), a 16MP camera with Sony IMX240 sensor and a 5MP front facing camera. The S6 Edge is also said to have curved screen on the both sides.
Samsung is expected to adopt a much more streamlined TouchWiz interface without any bloatware and also bundle Microsoft’s apps and services on its new flagship.

Samsung launched the Galaxy A3 smartphone with all metal build in India last this month for Rs. 20,500. We already brought you the unboxing, photo gallery and benchmarks, here we have the camera samples. The Galaxy A3 has a 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.4 aperture. It has several modes such as HDR, panorama, Rear-cam selfie, beauty face and more.
Images were good with vibrant color output. Macro shots were good too, but low-light images had a lot of noise. Even though images were not as good as the Galaxy A5 that has a 13-megapixel camera, the Galaxy A3's camera is decent. The modern smartphone is trending toward 4K displays and curved screens and Huawei has ruled out the former but is considering using curved displays on future Huawei smartphones. In a special briefing, Huawei President of Handsets Kevin Ho, confirmed that 4K displays have a negative trade-off with battery life but the wraparound Edge Screen on the Galaxy Note Edge was a feature they're looking into.
As covered previously, Ho believes that 4K displays have a compromise between performance and power consumption and this trade-off will determine when Huawei gets into 4K devices:
We have to compromise; 4K on a huge screen is great but most smartphones are five-inch or six-inch at most and maybe our eyes cannot tell the difference between 4K, 2K and Full HD on a small screen of five or six inches.
[The problem with 4K] is the power consumption as a 4K device could last maybe only six hours but a 2K or Full HD device would last one day or more. We have to compromise as 4K has a lot more pixels than Full HD and in the future there is a possibility for 4K in smartphones but only when [our eye] can tell the difference.

At the beginning of a crucial year for Huawei - as they face new challenges from Chinese rivals Xioami and Gionee - the company has outlined a vision for the future that includes innovative products, an array of wearables and a commitment to using the Android OS.
In a special briefing at Huawei's Shenzhen campus in China, Chief Marketing Officer at Huawei, Shao Yang, told us the company is looking to innovate to become noticed in the market, is committed to the Android OS and sees a lot of growth opportunities in the wearables market.
Discussing the future for Huawei devices, Shao Yang told us:
I think last year innovation was based on 4G LTE as last year was when 4G boomed in the market. For this year, I think we need to bring the whole experience for the consumer as Huawei is developing multiple areas of products such as smartphones, home broadband, wearables and PCs.
There are many way that consumers connect with Huawei experiences and we need to make this experience very different to offer synergies between multiple devices working together.

LG has just announced their new mid-range smartphone lineup that includes, Magna, Spirit, Leon and Joy ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015. These smartphones run on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and come with LTE and 3G versions depending on the market. LG has finally changed their naming convention for their smartphones. These have design elements and features seen on premium models. The LG Magna and LG Spirit has gently curved design and their displays are distinguished by a subtle 3000mm radius curve for a sleeker, more attractive profile, says LG.
All these smartphones except the entry-level LG Joy have G3-like rear buttons for power and volume controls and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for better selfies.

HTC is just a week away from launching the One M9 at the MWC 2015 on March 1st. Images and specs of the upcoming One M8 successor have been leaked by a German retail site.
As per the listing, the phone is seen in gunmetal grey with black accents and silver with gold accents. The power button is now on the right side instead of the top. Placement of the camera and speaker grill is also changed. Coming to the specs, the leak states the One M9 will have 5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display, powered by a 2GHz Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. It will include 32GB internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.
The phone has 20MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and 4MP ultra pixel in the front. Measuring 9.61 mm thick, One (M9) will run Android 5.0 Lollipop with HTC Sense 7. HTC has packed 2900mAh battery to power this smartphone. Finally,the phone is priced at €749 on the site which no longer shows the listing. We will have to wait and and see if these leaks and render finally turn out to be the final product.

Motorola has sent out press invites for an event on February 25th. The company says in the invites that it has an exciting product that will be announced at the event.
"Motorola is making an exciting announcement next week and wants you to be in the front row. The best part? You get to choose where and when you'd like to experience it. Everything you need fits inside one box, which we will deliver to your doorstep on Wednesday."

Xiaomi has decided to take legal action against those websites which are selling its products in India without the company's consent thereby infringing on its trademark.
Ericson accused Xiaomi of Trademark and Patent Infringement in December. Xioami was alleged by Ericsson earlier this month for selling Mediatek chipset powered smartphones through the site Xiaomishop.com, which are currently banned in the country.The Delhi High Court had partially lifted the ban and allowed the Chinese company to sell only Qualcomm chipset smartphones in India.
"They're infringing on trademarks and they're making the world believe that it's a genuine Xiaomi site, which it is not. The products sold on these websites are not meant for India and are sold at significantly higher price points. We have written to them multiple times, and we will be taking legal action against them".
said Manu Jain, head of India operations at Xiaomi.

Jain further added, though the site has stop functioning by now, the company will still take legal action against them along with 4-5 other sites as well. Samsung launched the Samsung Z1 smartphone, the company's latest Tizen OS smartphone in India last month. We already brought you the review of the smartphone, here we have the battery life test results of the smartphone. The Samsung Z1 has a 1,500mAh Lithium ion battery. It has a 4-inch WVGA display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, which should not consume a lot of battery. The Tizen OS also has ultra power saving mode that would let you extend the battery life.

It lasted for 9 hours and 5 minutes in our talk time test, better than the Android One smartphones.
3G Browsing
It lasted for 5 hours and 15 minutes in 3G browsing test, similar to other mid-range smartphones.
WiFi Browsing
It lasted for 7 hours and 8 minutes in WiFi browsing test and grabs the second spot.
Video Playback
It managed to last for 6 hours and 40 minutes in the video playback test.
It achieved One Charge Rating of 6 hours and 55 minutes. Overall the battery life is decent for a smartphone with a 1500mAh battery, in this price range.

The Galaxy A3 has a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a pixel resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and a pixel density of around 245 PPI. Pixel density of the display is less compared to the Galaxy A5, but the screen is good in all the other aspects such as brightness, viewing angles and sunlight legibility. Blacks are perfectly black, thanks to the AMOLED panel. Wish Samsung had used a HD display to make the content look more sharper. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection, similar to other Galaxy A series devices.

Microsoft is developing a new app for Windows Phone that will allow users to find their friends, as per a new report by a Spanish website, Microsoft Place.
Dubbed as People Sense, the app will let users reveal their real-time location to selected contacts and also provides them with detailed direction’s to a contact’s location. The app is currently being code-named as Buddy Aware and is expected to integrate Bing Maps with messaging and calling features.

It will also allows users to mark favourite places like 'home' or 'work' and integrate them in the app. More features are expected to be incorporated in People Sense. Apple has announced that it is investing €1.7 billion ($2 billion) to build and operate two data centers in Europe, each powered by 100 percent renewable energy.
The data centers located in County Galway, Ireland, and Denmark’s central Jutland, will power Apple’s online services including the iTunes Store, the App Store, iMessage, Maps and Siri for customers across Europe. Apple will also work with local partners to develop additional renewable energy projects from wind or other sources to provide power in the future.
“We are grateful for Apple’s continued success in Europe and proud that our investment supports communities across the continent. This significant new investment represents Apple’s biggest project in Europe to date. We’re thrilled to be expanding our operations, creating hundreds of local jobs and introducing some of our most advanced green building designs yet.”

Apple is planning to launch its first-ever public beta program for both iOS this year. The company will be releasing first ever public beta for iOS 8.3 and iOS 9 in March.
Apple will be releasing iOS 8.3 beta through its AppleSeed program in mid-March to the public and is code named as Stowe. It will also be releasing the third beta of iOS 8.3 to developers around the same time. Until now, only registered developers have had access to the company's beta releases for iOS. In the same week Apple will launch the third iOS 8.3 beta for developers as well, while the second iOS 8.3 beta for developers will be rolled out next week. The updated software includes support for Wireless CarPlay, an upgraded Emoji keyboard, an enhanced voice for Siri, and simpler login for Google services.
Meanwhile, iOS 8.4, codenamed Copper, will include Apple's new streaming music service while the iOS 9 will include fixes and performance enhancements. Apple is also planning to launch iOS 9, codenamed Monarch, at its June Worldwide Developer Conference, with a public beta release in summer and a final release later this year.

Samsung has been teasing its upcoming Galaxy S6 smartphone for the past few days in videos and images. The Galaxy S6 is rumored to come with a 5.1 inch Quad HD display, Octa-Core Exynos 64-bit processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, Android 5.0 (Lollipop), a 16MP camera with Sony IMX240 sensor and a 5MP front facing camera. The S6 Edge is also said to have curved screen on the both sides.
Samsung is expected to adopt a much more streamlined TouchWiz interface without any bloatware and also bundle Microsoft’s apps and services on its new flagship.

Samsung launched the Galaxy A3 smartphone with all metal build in India last this month for Rs. 20,500. We already brought you the unboxing, photo gallery and benchmarks, here we have the camera samples. The Galaxy A3 has a 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.4 aperture. It has several modes such as HDR, panorama, Rear-cam selfie, beauty face and more.
Images were good with vibrant color output. Macro shots were good too, but low-light images had a lot of noise. Even though images were not as good as the Galaxy A5 that has a 13-megapixel camera, the Galaxy A3's camera is decent. The modern smartphone is trending toward 4K displays and curved screens and Huawei has ruled out the former but is considering using curved displays on future Huawei smartphones. In a special briefing, Huawei President of Handsets Kevin Ho, confirmed that 4K displays have a negative trade-off with battery life but the wraparound Edge Screen on the Galaxy Note Edge was a feature they're looking into.
As covered previously, Ho believes that 4K displays have a compromise between performance and power consumption and this trade-off will determine when Huawei gets into 4K devices:
We have to compromise; 4K on a huge screen is great but most smartphones are five-inch or six-inch at most and maybe our eyes cannot tell the difference between 4K, 2K and Full HD on a small screen of five or six inches.
[The problem with 4K] is the power consumption as a 4K device could last maybe only six hours but a 2K or Full HD device would last one day or more. We have to compromise as 4K has a lot more pixels than Full HD and in the future there is a possibility for 4K in smartphones but only when [our eye] can tell the difference.

At the beginning of a crucial year for Huawei - as they face new challenges from Chinese rivals Xioami and Gionee - the company has outlined a vision for the future that includes innovative products, an array of wearables and a commitment to using the Android OS.
In a special briefing at Huawei's Shenzhen campus in China, Chief Marketing Officer at Huawei, Shao Yang, told us the company is looking to innovate to become noticed in the market, is committed to the Android OS and sees a lot of growth opportunities in the wearables market.
Discussing the future for Huawei devices, Shao Yang told us:
I think last year innovation was based on 4G LTE as last year was when 4G boomed in the market. For this year, I think we need to bring the whole experience for the consumer as Huawei is developing multiple areas of products such as smartphones, home broadband, wearables and PCs.
There are many way that consumers connect with Huawei experiences and we need to make this experience very different to offer synergies between multiple devices working together.

LG has just announced their new mid-range smartphone lineup that includes, Magna, Spirit, Leon and Joy ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015. These smartphones run on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and come with LTE and 3G versions depending on the market. LG has finally changed their naming convention for their smartphones. These have design elements and features seen on premium models. The LG Magna and LG Spirit has gently curved design and their displays are distinguished by a subtle 3000mm radius curve for a sleeker, more attractive profile, says LG.
All these smartphones except the entry-level LG Joy have G3-like rear buttons for power and volume controls and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for better selfies.

OnePlus just launched the 16GB Silk White variant of the OnePlus One in India, as expected. Except the internal storage and Silk White back with smooth texture, other specifications are similar to the 64GB variant of the OnePlus One smartphone that was launched in India back in December last year.

HTC is just a week away from launching the One M9 at the MWC 2015 on March 1st. Images and specs of the upcoming One M8 successor have been leaked by a German retail site.
As per the listing, the phone is seen in gunmetal grey with black accents and silver with gold accents. The power button is now on the right side instead of the top. Placement of the camera and speaker grill is also changed. Coming to the specs, the leak states the One M9 will have 5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display, powered by a 2GHz Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. It will include 32GB internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.
The phone has 20MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and 4MP ultra pixel in the front. Measuring 9.61 mm thick, One (M9) will run Android 5.0 Lollipop with HTC Sense 7. HTC has packed 2900mAh battery to power this smartphone. Finally,the phone is priced at €749 on the site which no longer shows the listing. Motorola has sent out press invites for an event on February 25th. The company says in the invites that it has an exciting product that will be announced at the event.

Xiaomi has decided to take legal action against those websites which are selling its products in India without the company's consent thereby infringing on its trademark.
Ericson accused Xiaomi of Trademark and Patent Infringement in December. Xioami was alleged by Ericsson earlier this month for selling Mediatek chipset powered smartphones through the site Xiaomishop.com, which are currently banned in the country.The Delhi High Court had partially lifted the ban and allowed the Chinese company to sell only Qualcomm chipset smartphones in India.
"They're infringing on trademarks and they're making the world believe that it's a genuine Xiaomi site, which it is not. The products sold on these websites are not meant for India and are sold at significantly higher price points. We have written to them multiple times, and we will be taking legal action against them".
said Manu Jain, head of India operations at Xiaomi.

Samsung launched the Samsung Z1 smartphone, the company's latest Tizen OS smartphone in India last month. We already brought you the review of the smartphone, here we have the battery life test results of the smartphone. The Samsung Z1 has a 1,500mAh Lithium ion battery. It has a 4-inch WVGA display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, which should not consume a lot of battery. The Tizen OS also has ultra power saving mode that would let you extend the battery life.

The Galaxy A3 has a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a pixel resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and a pixel density of around 245 PPI. Pixel density of the display is less compared to the Galaxy A5, but the screen is good in all the other aspects such as brightness, viewing angles and sunlight legibility. Blacks are perfectly black, thanks to the AMOLED panel. Wish Samsung had used a HD display to make the content look more sharper. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection, similar to other Galaxy A series devices.

Microsoft is developing a new app for Windows Phone that will allow users to find their friends, as per a new report by a Spanish website, Microsoft Place.
Dubbed as People Sense, the app will let users reveal their real-time location to selected contacts and also provides them with detailed direction’s to a contact’s location. The app is currently being code-named as Buddy Aware and is expected to integrate Bing Maps with messaging and calling features.

It will also allows users to mark favourite places like 'home' or 'work' and integrate them in the app. More features are expected to be incorporated in People Sense. However, the app does not provide notifications to alert users when one of their contacts is nearby but it is likely that this feature might be added in a future build. Microsoft also plans to offer integration with third-party applications for communication and navigation purposes as well.
Apple has announced that it is investing €1.7 billion ($2 billion) to build and operate two data centers in Europe, each powered by 100 percent renewable energy.
The data centers located in County Galway, Ireland, and Denmark’s central Jutland, will power Apple’s online services including the iTunes Store, the App Store, iMessage, Maps and Siri for customers across Europe. Apple will also work with local partners to develop additional renewable energy projects from wind or other sources to provide power in the future.

Apple is planning to launch its first-ever public beta program for both iOS this year. The company will be releasing first ever public beta for iOS 8.3 and iOS 9 in March.
Apple will be releasing iOS 8.3 beta through its AppleSeed program in mid-March to the public and is code named as Stowe. It will also be releasing the third beta of iOS 8.3 to developers around the same time. Until now, only registered developers have had access to the company's beta releases for iOS. In the same week Apple will launch the third iOS 8.3 beta for developers as well, while the second iOS 8.3 beta for developers will be rolled out next week. The updated software includes support for Wireless CarPlay, an upgraded Emoji keyboard, an enhanced voice for Siri, and simpler login for Google services.
Meanwhile, iOS 8.4, codenamed Copper, will include Apple's new streaming music service while the iOS 9 will include fixes and performance enhancements. Apple is also planning to launch iOS 9, codenamed Monarch, at its June Worldwide Developer Conference, with a public beta release in summer and a final release later this year.
