Facebook adds Like Button sticker in Messenger for Android, iPhone and iPad

0
0
Facebook has started rolling out Like button sticker for the Android and iOS apps in Messaging. This works on both Facebook app and the separate Facebook Messenger app. This lets you send a quick Thumbs Up symbol to others in on tap quickly. This would be definitely useful to quickly reply with a Like button instead of a long message to accept something. Facebook says that this feature is part of a recent update, according to Techcrunch. This did not appear in the changelog in both the iOS and Android apps. Facebook Messenger for Android got updated with support for Stickers back in April and the iPhone app got the update in May that brought stickers. Now the Stickers is still there, but you get a thumbs up sign next to that when you don't type anything instead of send button. You cannot send two Like Button Sticker continuously, but you can send a sticker after replying with a text. The new Like Replies are now available in Facebook and Messenger for iOS and Android and Mobile web (m.facebook.com), but it's not available on desktop yet. But you can view the Like sticker on desktop messenger when someone sends it using the mobile ...

Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom Hands On

The Galaxy Camera was the first smart camera to be powered by the Android OS but this year, Samsung have taken a different route to introducing smart cameras with the launch of the Galaxy NX with interchangeable lenses and the Galaxy S4 Zoom. As the name implies, the Galaxy S4 Zoom is the camera equivalent of the Galaxy S4 but it does have some great benefits that will appeal to the hardcore camera users. The S4 Zoom is the first smartphone to come with 10X Optical Zoom and also features a 16MP CMOS sensor with Xenon Flash. Yes you read right - the Galaxy S4 Zoom is a smartphone with an excellent camera. The S4 Zoom remains a very unique device as it is able to make and receive phone calls and act just like a smartphone. With all the positives, the S4 Zoom does have some major trade-offs compared to the Galaxy S4. On the back, the touchscreen has dropped from a 5.0 inch Super AMOLED Full HD display to a 4.3 inch qHD (540 x 960 pixels) Super AMOLED screen. Under the hood, the S4 Zoom is powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz processor with 1.5GB RAM. Only 8GB internal storage is ...

Hands on with the Samsung Galaxy NX

First there was the Galaxy Camera, then the Galaxy S4 Zoom and now the Galaxy NX. Samsung have been shoe-horning Android and mobile modems into their cameras for the better part of a year for reasons that most people, myself included struggle to understand. With the Galaxy NX however, this move is starting to make a degree of sense. The Galaxy Camera, while equipped with significant levels of optical zoom, underwhelmed as a camera in many regards. It was much larger than a typical point & shoot, much more expensive and took arguably worse pictures; a hard sell under the best circumstances. The Galaxy NX features an upgraded sensor, Android 4.2, a 20.3 Megapixel APS-C CMOS in addition to a plethora of interchangeable lenses courtesy of its compatibility with Samsung's NX series of cameras and lenses. This joins the LTE, 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth support that one would expect from the mobile SOC that accompanies the  DRIMe IV image Signal processor in the guts of this compact camera.  The Galaxy NX includes feature common to larger camera systems like an electronic viewfinder, pop-up flash, hotshoe, hybrid autofocus and a top shutter speed of 1/6000 of a second. What is most interesting to us is ...

Facebook working on Flipboard style news reader says WSJ

Facebook is rumored to be working on a new reader service that is internally known simply as Reader. The service displays content in a format geared towards mobile usage and draws data from Facebook users and publishers. The application is said to closely resemble Flipboard in terms of interface. Facebook's Zuckerberg had previously announced that he wanted to create the "definitive professional publishing platform." While Facebook has witnessed a growth in the number of users accessing the service via mobile phones, the amount of time spent is brief and limited to just a few moments. By providing a more immersive experience, it could open up new revenue models for the company. Zuckerberg is said be taking a keen interest in the project that is being aimed at iOS devices. If rumors are to be believed then the application will be available for both smartphone and tablet platforms at launch. Apple veteran, Michael Matas, is said to be the lead designer of the project. With the social reading segment heating up and LinkedIn's recent acquisition of Pulse for 90 million dollars, the market is ripe for disruption. Will Facebook be the one to make it big ? Lenovo K900 Unboxing and First Impressions

The K900 is Lenovo's massive flagship device that recently launched in India for Rs. 32,999. Boasting some impressive specs, it has landed in our labs for testing. The huge 5.5 inch 1080p IPS screen is coupled with powerful internals such as the 2 GHz dual core Intel CloverTrail processor and the 13 megapixel Sony Stacked CMOS sensor camera, making it a very impressive package. This got us excited for the unboxing and the initial walkthrough of the device, which we captured in a video here - httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnwXRcLlff4 Box Contents Shown above are the box contents. Pretty usual stuff, but we were disappointed by the lame earphones that accompanied the device, Lenovo could have done better. One thing we missed to mention in the video was the SIM ejector tool. Sitting inside the user manual box, what we initially thought was a logo or something actually turned out to be a SIM tray ejector tool for the phone. Regarding the phone itself, the display was brilliant. While the phone was slightly uncomfortable to hold at first, I quickly managed to get used to it thanks to my equally massive hands. The user interface seemed ok, but we would love to see stock icons here than round ...

In a landmark change to the mobile gaming scenario, Microsoft has decided to bring some of its hugely popular first party titles to iOS and Android beginning with the Age of Empires in 2013. This is facilitated thanks to a license agreement by Microsoft with Klab, a mobile game developer in Japan which plans to port Age of Empires within this year to iOS and Android. While Age of Empires on mobile is a big step, Microsoft has been in the business of porting some of its games to iOS earlier, with Kinectimals and Ms Splosion man being the two main ports, with Xbox Live achievements. So we guess Microsoft has finally warmed up to the phone market being lucrative for gaming, but there is no word on a Windows Phone port yet, but we think it will and should happen. Recently we saw Halo: Spartan Assault announced for Windows Phone and Windows 8, becoming the debut Halo game for a Smartphone or a tablet, and we expect the original trilogy to eventually get ported to mobile platforms at some point. However, there are no reports of any other franchisees being licensed than Age of Empires yet, as reported by the Verge, ...

Samsung Galaxy S4 Active AT&T Hands on

0
0
On Thursday in London & New York, Samsung made available its well-leaked and previewed variant of the Galaxy S4, the S4 Active. Having had a few minutes to play around with the device we came away with a few impressions, though a more detailed review will likely be a few weeks away. The build quality of the Galaxy S4 has been the subject of much discussion with opinions running the gamut from decent-but-not-brilliant to mediocre and much to my dismay the S4 Active is no different. Early photos gave the impression that the Active was a metal-clad device, replete with external screws. Sadly, the device is plastic, the same plastic that can be found on the Galaxy S4. It wouldn't be unfair to say that the design materials used in the S4 Active are no different from those found in the S4. As the name implies though, the S4 Active has been designed to be a life companion for the more active among us. As a a result, the S4 Active is built to IP67 standards. This means that not only is the device completely sealed to the effects and ingress of dust but can also be submerged in up to 1m of ...
