Samsung has finally started sending out press invites to an Unpacked event being held in a months' time on Sunday 1st March 2015 in Barcelona. The event, which takes place on the Sunday before MWC 2015 officially begins, is likely to see the launch of the Galaxy S6 and the invite points to a Curved Design suggesting we'll also see a curved edge smartphone announced. The invite comes with the tagline "What's next" and the image of a curved silhouette which points towards all those rumours of a S Edge variant of the Galaxy S6. Looking at the invite, the silhouette curves are rather steep which could be a reference to a style akin to the Galaxy S II, which had a very slim body and a camera hump. However, recent rumours suggest that the Galaxy Note Edge was a concept device for future handsets and the launch at MWC 2015 will see the Galaxy S Edge announced with two curved edge displays. Spec-wise, we're expecting the Galaxy S6 to feature a 5-5.3 inch 2k Quad HD display, an Exynos 7420 SoC (or potentially a Snapdragon 810 although this seems less likely), a slimmer body, a fingerprint sensor built into a larger home button ...

As expected for quite some time, EE have today confirmed that the Orange and T-Mobile brands are now officially closing in the UK. In an interview with Mobile News, EE Chief Commercial Officer Marc Allera confirmed that EE will no longer sell Orange and T-Mobile contracts directly and indirect channels will stop sales in a months' time on March 2nd. The two brands - who merged to form Everything Everywhere in 2010, which was later rebranded to EE - were completely dropped from UK high streets when EE launched 4G back in 2012 but the firm continued to offer Orange and T-Mobile pay monthly and pay as you go connections. However Allera revealed that 92 percent of connections during December and January were on EE meaning it was the right time to pull the plug on the Orange and T-Mobile brands: “It has been something we have discussed for many months now, but we didn’t feel it would be right to push the button on the activity until we had a 90 per cent or more mix of customers opting for EE. “Only one in ten of our customers are now connecting to T-Mobile and Orange and we are confident the transition to ...

Other notable rumoured specs of the HTC One (M9) include a 5 inch Full HD 1080p display, an octa-core CPU with Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset with Adreno 430 graphics and 3GB RAM. As per the report, David Drummond, Google’s senior vice president of corporate development and chief legal officer, revealed Google’s plans to Uber, with a few Uber employees already in possession of screenshots of the mobile app Google allegedly plans on using. It is stated that the app is currently being tested by Google employees.  In 2013, Google Ventures invested $258 million into Uber, and even David Drummond, joined Uber’s board of directors. The report adds that Uber board is deciding whether to ask Drummond to resign his position as an Uber board member. Uber relies on Google Maps for the routing information for its car-hailing app, and Google's apps also refer travelers to Uber.  Google recently said its driverless car technology was in development within its Google X research lab, but it is two to five years from being ready for widespread use, according to Bloomberg. Worldwide tablet shipments declines for first time in Q4, 2014: Report

0
After reporting the worldwide mobile shipments last week, IDC has now revealed the numbers for global tablet shipments in Q2, 2014. For the first time worldwide tablet shipments recorded a year-over-year decline since the market's inception in 2010. In the Q4 of 2014, 76.1 million tablets were shipped worldwide that was down 3.2 percent year-over-year. Even though tablet shipments had declined this quarter, they were up 4.4 percent in all of 2014 with 229.6 million units compared to 2013. "The tablet market is still very top heavy in the sense that it relies mostly on Apple and Samsung to carry the market forward each year. Although Apple expanded its iPad lineup by keeping around older models and offering a lower entry price point of $249, it still wasn't enough to spur iPad sales given the excitement around the launch of the new iPhones. Meanwhile, Samsung's struggles continued as low-cost vendors are quickly proving that mid- to high-priced Android tablets simply aren't cut out for today's tablet market." said Jitesh Ubrani, Senior Research Analyst, Worldwide Quarterly Tablet Tracker. Apple continued to reign the tablet market with 28.1 market percent share a decrease from 33.1 percent. However, Apple's tablet shipments decreased from 26 million in Q4 2013 ...
