Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G Battery Test

Xiaomi introduced the Redmi Note 4G back in November for Rs. 9,999, which went on sale few weeks back. We already brought you the comparison of Redmi Note 4G with the YU YUREKA, here we have the battery test results of the smartphone. The Redmi Note 4G has a 3100mAh Lithium-ion Polymer Battery. It is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 (MSM8928) processor, has a 5.5-inch HD display and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with MIUI on top. Check out how the smartphone performs in a range of battery tests. Talk Time It lasted for 20 hours and 1 minute in our Talk Time Test, better than most other smartphones. 3G Browsing It lasted for 5 hours and 33 minutes in our 3G browsing test and grabs the top spot. WiFi Browsing It lasted for 6 hours and 15 minutes in our WiFi browsing test, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2. Video Playback In terms of video playback time, it managed to last only for 5 hours and 52 minutes and ends up last. Overall, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G scored a One Charge Rating of 9 hours and 16 minutes. This score is mainly due to the high talk time, which grabs 54.1%.

Google to pull the plug on ‘Chrome to Mobile’ and ‘Print To My Phone’ features

Google will soon retire some Chrome features starting next month. The company is pulling the plug on 'Chrome to Mobile' and 'Print To My Phone' in February. Google is shutting down the Chrome to mobile browser extension and the company is urging users to access the Tab Sync feature that is now built within Chrome as it offers the same capability of accessing your open pages on the desktop version of Chrome within your Android device. Moreover, the company is also pulling the "Print to my Phone" feature from Google Cloud Print next month. Users can use Pushbullet instead of the Chrome feature as it also offers the same functionality. via

Japanese carrier au by KDDI has partnered with Kyocera and product designer Naoto Fukasawa to announce INFORBAR A03, the latest designer smartphone in the INFORBAR sreies. The smartphone has a 4.5-inch 1080p IGZO display and comes with anodized aluminum body. It is powered by a Snapdragon 801 SoC, has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It runs on Android KitKat with a custom skin on top by award-winning artist and experimental web designer Yugo Nakamura. It is a refresh of Iida UI that was introduced in the INFORBAR A01 smartphone. Nokia Networks reportedly bags Rs. 1240 crore 4G contract from Airtel

Nokia Networks has bagged Rs 1,240 crore ($200 million) contract from Bharti Airtel to build 4G network in the 1800 MHz band in six telecom circles, according to ET.  Airtel will soon announce the deal that will cover Mumbai, MP, West Bengal, Odisha, Punjab and Kerala circles, according the report. Last year Nokia Networks grabbed a 3G contract from Bharti Airtel that included India-first dual band, dual carrier 3G network implementation. It also partnered with Ericsson for 4G roll out and launch Radio Dot System and the RBS6402 picocell in India that optimizes indoor coverage. Airtel won 97 MHz of airwaves in the 1800 MHz band across 15 circles in spectrum auction last year. The company already announced that it plans to provide 4G based on FDD-LTE on 1800 MHz, in addition to its existing 4G TDD-LTE services on 2300 MHz. It also offers 4G on mobile using Circuit Switched FallBack (CSFB) voice solution in Bangalore, Punjab, Chandigarh and Kolkata. It is yet to roll out TDD-LTE network in Mumbai and Kerala where it holds the spectrum.

HP unveils range of Android and Windows tablets along with enterprise mobility solutions

HP has introduced a range of tablets that run on Android and Windows OS. The company has a launched 12.3-inch Pro Slate 12 and the 7.9-inch Pro Slate 8 along with HP Pro Slate 10 EE running on Android and HP Pro Tablet 10 EE running on Windows model. First up, is the HP Pro Slate 12 and HP Pro Slate 8 Android 4.4 tablets that sport 12.3-inch and 7.9-inch screens with Gorilla Glass 4. Both the devices are powered by 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processors, 2GB of RAM while the former has 32GB storage and latter has 16GB storage. The Slate 12 has a resolution of just 1600 x 1200 while the Slate 8 has a resolution of 2048x1536. HP Pro Slate 8 uses Corning Gorilla Glass 4 while the HP Pro Slate 12 comes with Corning Concore Glass. HP has also announced the Duet Pen, which is a smart digital pen powered by Qualcomm technology that allows you to write on any surface and have that writing automatically appear on your tablet. WhatsApp to get a web client soon reveals leaked screenshots

WhatsApp is testing a web client, according to screenshots shared in unofficial WhatsApp community by a Mexican user. WhatsApp Messenger screenshots in Spanish shows the instructions to use the web client. This will work like Airdroid or other clients that offers remote web access. According to the screenshots, you need to go to web.whatsapp.com and scan a QR code using WhatsApp. Web.whatsapp.com is protected with a Google account even though WhatsApp is now owned by Facebook. This is likely to be used by testers as of now and it might use custom or Facebook account to log in when it releases. Once you are connected, you can see the chats on your browser. You can also see the session from the web client on your app and also clear previous session. WhatsApp version 2.11.471 for Android was rumored to have had string of codes that mention WhatsApp Web. Now the Android app has been updated to version 2.11.491, still we have not seen the web client. WhatsApp Call is expected to release sometime in Q1 2015. We had seen several leaked screenshots of WhatsApp Voice Calls in recent months. Looks like the web client might come first before the voice calling feature.

HTC will launch its next flagship phone at the upcoming MWC and the company has also sent out invites for the same. Dubbed as One M9, the phone's specs have been leaked earlier and now we are getting a look at the device with the latest photo leak. The leaks come from French website Nowhereelse.fr that gives a first look of the HTC One M9. Coming in line with an earlier report from Bloomberg, the HTC One M9 does have a similar design to its predecessors. We can even see the front-facing BoomSound speakers at the top and bottom of the display. The bezels on the phone are also slimmer as compared to earlier devices. Another photo also shows the rear camera that has a square module than a round one which is seen for the dual camera. The HTC One M9 is expected to sport a 5-inch screen with 1920 x 1080 resolution for 440ppi, a 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB or RAM and Adreno 430 graphics. ASUS Zenfone 4 and Zenfone 5 smartphones received a price cut in India earlier this month. Now ASUS has released a new 8GB variant of the Zenfone 5 (A501CG) to Rs. 7,999 for Republic Day. Chrome for iPhone updated with Material Design, Handoff support and more

Google has updated Chrome for iPhone with a number of new features which takes the app from version 40 to 40.0.2214.61. The app is getting new Material Design UI and support for handoff. The Chrome app is getting a makeover by using all the elements of the Material Design that we have seen on the Android 5.0 Lollipop. The browser gets bold colors, refreshed look and small animations. Google stated that the latest update brings “bold graphics, fluid motion, and tactile surfaces,” to the app. As expected the Chrome browser gets iOS 8 and optimizations and support for larger screen on the iPhones. Qualcomm roadmap outline leaked, reveals Snapdragon 815 and 820

Qualcomm's roadmap has been leaked and shows an outline of its upcoming products that includes a powerful next-gen Snapdragon 815 and 820 processors. The company's roadmap was leaked by @leaksfly on Twitter. As per the roadmap, the 64-bit Snapdragon 820 will feature 8 high performance Taipan cores, successor to the Krait cores found in most Android devices over the past few years. The leak mentions that Snapdragon 820 will feature an Adreno 530 GPU and supports LPDDR4 RAM, LTE-Advanced connectivity.   This new octa-core chipset will be built using a Samsung/GlobalFoundries 14nm “FinFet”. In addition, Qualcomm's roadmap  also shows other soon-to-be-released SoCs like the Snapdragon 815, 625/629, 620, and 616. The Snapdrago 815 will have same RAM and modem as the 820, however it will be forged on a 20nm process. These are 20nm chips with Adreno 418 graphics. The 620 is a quad-core processor while the 625 and 629 chips are octa-core processors. These chips will be used in mid rang mobile devices. Lastly, there is a Snapdragon 616 which takes advantage of eight ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked between 1.8 and 2.2GHz with Adreno 408 GPU. Twitter for Windows phone has received an update that includes Cortana integration. Users will be able to launch and send a tweet using Microsoft's virtual intelligent assistance. The update which is only for devices running Windows 8.1 will enables users to tell Cortana to send a tweet by simply saying “Cortana, Twitter new Tweet". With this new version, it is now possible to share links for website from Internet Explorer directly to the Twitter app. The app does features support for People Hub in Windows Phone, allowing Twitter to be a People Hub option for contacts. Xiaomi has introduced a Bluetooth Gaming controller in China. It uses Bluetooth 3.0 from Broadcom to connect to Mi TV, Mi Box, Xiaomi smartphones and Mi Pad and doesn't require an app or a driver. It has 3-axis gravity sensors made by Bosh and dual vibration motors for vibration feedback. Xiaomi has used Sony PS4-like manufacturing process. It has ergonomic button layout and thumb sticks with 360-degree field of precision positioning  and accuracy of 0.172 degrees. The shell is made of tough material manufactured by Samsung. It weighs 220 grams. It supports more than 92% Android games, says the company. It uses 2AA NiMH rechargeable battery with intelligent power management that automatically goes to sleep if it's not in use for more than 5 minutes. The Xiaomi Bluetooth Gaming controller costs 99 Chinese Yuan (US$ 16 / Rs. 980 approx.). It is available for purchase from official Xiaomi website in China, but not details about the global roll out.

Dropbox buys mobile productivity start-up CloudOn

Dropbox has acquired CloudOn, a company that focuses on the creation and editing of document on mobile devices. The financial details of the deal are not known. Launched in 2009, the Israeli based start-up will shut down its operations on March 15 and the 30 member team of CloudOn will be joining Dropbox as a result of the acquisition. The Wall Street Journal has stated that this is Dropbox's largest acquisition in terms of members. The service which currently has 9 million users will not take any new users starting today. CloudOn allowed users to  edit, create and share files from Microsoft Office and others online. It is not known what plans Dropbox has after this acquisition. The cloud storage firm said it has over 300 million users, 70 percent of whom are located outside of the U.S. Last year, Dropbox and Microsoft’s teamed up to deliver stronger integration between Office and Dropbox. via
