Acer Chromebook 15 with Broadwell Processor announced for $249.99

Acer has announced world's largest Chromebook with 15.6 HD display ahead of CES 2015. Dubbed as Chromebook 15, it will be available in two display resolutions -  1920x1080 pixels and 1366x768 pixels. The Chromebook 15 will also feature Intel's new fifth-generation Core i3 or Celeron processor. Acer says these new Broadwell-based chips will allow the laptop to reach 8 hours of battery life on a single charge. Storage options range from 2GB or 4GB of RAM or either a 16GB or 32GB SSD. The Chromebook weighs 4.85 pounds and measures 15.4 x 10.08 x 0.95 inches. It has the largest touchpad available on any Chromebook device. Other features of the Chromebook 15 are dual-band, MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. As for hard connections, this model offers one USB 3 and USB 2 port each, along with HDMI and an SD card reader. The Acer Chromebook 15 will be available in several configurations in the U.S. and price start at $249.99. In addition, Acer has also updated its current Chromebook 13 with touch screen. Seagate has launched 500GB Wireless Hard Drive ahead of CES 2015. The on the go storage device has a  built-in power supply and a Wi-Fi radio for accessing files on the go. The wireless hard drive is "designed for streaming and offloading media from mobile devices". Available in five bright colors -lime green, cool blue, slate gray, fire-engine red, and white, the hard drive can connect upto 3 devices simultaneously. NVIDIA has announced the Tegra X1, the company’s latest mobile processor at the International CES 2015 in Las Vegas. It is the successor of last year's Tegra K1 chip and is based on NVIDIA Maxwell architecture. This 8 CPU cores the includes four ARM Cortex A57 CPU cores and four ARM Cortex A53 cores. It has 256-core Maxwell GPU that promises much better GPU performance than Tegra K1 at the same power of less than 10 watts. Samsung to reportedly showcase Galaxy S6 and its variant at CES 2015

Samsung has been rumored to be working on the Galaxy S6 for quiet some time . A new report is now stating that the company will give a first look of the device at the upcoming CES 2015. According to the report, Samsung will showcase the phone only to selected partners and not the consumers at CES 2015. The company is even expected to show the Galaxy S6 variant at the event. Some rumors speculate that the Galaxy S6 variant Samsung is working on is the Galaxy S6 Edge. Meanwhile, in the same news the Galaxy S6 has been leaked in photos. The photos show all metal chassis where the place is cutout for camera and at the rear back bottom. Twitter building native video platform

Twitter was said to be working on its own video service since November last year. Now, according to a report from TechCrunch, the micro blogging site's new service will host videos upto 10 minutes. The native video platform will support videos up to 10 minutes in length with no cap on file size. These videos will be an extension of the existing Twitter Cards functionality, said the report. For starters, the video service will support MP4 and MOV files. Videos should use a 16:9 aspect ratio and will users can pick a thumbnail to customize how it appears on their Twitter timeline with png and .jpg thumbnail uploads. Users can tweet videos but the tweets cannot be scheduled in advance. The video platform will not allow YouTube or outside videos and all of them must be uploaded to the Twitter platform itself. Third-party advertisers are not allowed to run placements on the content either. At present the video service has no editing tools and videos can only be either sent to all subscribers or be hidden and used as part of an ad campaign on the social network. Asus hints at optical zoom for new phone in a video teaser

We know that Asus is going to announce next iteration of Zenfone at the CES 2015. The company  has released a video teaser giving out more details about the upcoming announcement. The video teaser which uses Morse code to delivery a "secret" message is deployed, with ASUS asking viewers to solve the message. The brief Morse code message translates to "optical zoom", which is in line with the photo-themed teasers that ASUS has released previously for CES 2015. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knJc6jEkbrI Though the video does not mention anything about the phone, the “See what others can’t see” tag line is seen. Bluetooth SIG documents had revealed a phone with a 4.5-inch 480 x 854 display, a dual-core Intel CPU inside and a 5MP camera. A previous teaser last month from Asus stated "Expreince 2morrow" hinting the next phone will be called Zenfone2. LG G Flex 2 with 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor goes official

LG has officially unveiled its second generation Flex smartphone at its dedicated Consumer Electronics Show press conference in Las Vegas. LG G Flex 2 is the first smartphone to feature the 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with octa-core 2.0GHz CPU under the hood. Apart from spectacular hardware configuration, the device comes with the combination of G3’s practical design and original G Flex’s dynamic curves. Just like the first generation G Flex its successor also sports a self-healing back panel. While the original model came out with a 6-inch 720p panel, the G Flex 2 has a much smaller 5.5-inch display, but its resolution has been bumped to 1080p. LG has used its plastic OLED screen, which is similar to the one on the G Watch R. There is a layer of Gorilla Glass 3 for protection against scratches and minor sniffs. Google Cast for audio lets you push audio from mobile device to speakers

Google today introduced Google Cast for audio. The audio streaming service enables users to wirelessly control and send the music playing on your iOS, Android device or Chrome browser right to new Google Cast-enabled audio speakers. The Google Cast for audio can stream music or audio from a selection of apps including Rdio, Pandora, NPR One, Google Play Music, and others to Google Cast-ready speakers, sound bars, and receivers. The service will work similar to Google's Chromecast streaming stick and users will have to simply tap the “cast” button in an app on Android, iOS, or the web, and select a Google Cast-supported device. As for hardware, Google said the first speakers to support Google Cast for audio will be available from LG, HEOS by Denon, Sony and others this spring in the US. Google's current service looks like a take on Apple's Airplay which also enables streaming of audio to AirPlay-enabled speakers. Intel announces 5th-generation ‘Broadwell’ processors

Intel has officially announced its new 5th generation Intel Core processor family. The latest range of silicon’s are designed on 14 nm architecture and is expected to deliver improve system and graphics performance, natural and immersive user experiences and also enable longer battery life as compared previous generations. The new series of processors are said to be designed to power devices across diverse form factors including the traditional notebooks, 2 in 1s, ultrabooks, chromebooks, desktops PCs and mini PCs. The line-up of the 5th generation Intel processors include Core i3, Core i5, Core i5 vPro, Core i7 and Core i7 vPro processors. The 5th generation Intel core family processors have 35% more transistors on a 37% smaller die. The new architectural enhancement allows the chip to deliver up to 24% better graphics performance, up to 50% faster video conversion and about 1.5 hours longer battery life as compared to the previous generation. Toshiba has launched first of its kind TransferJet adapter for iDevices such as iPhone, iPad and iPod, which fulfills the gadget's close proximity wireless transfer technology. If you are wondering what TransferJet is all about – well, it’s a device built on the TransferJet Consortium, which is a technology that provides simple connections and ultra-high speed data transfers with low power consumption. ASUS has taken wraps of its latest ZenFone 2 smartphone at its dedicated CES 2015 event in Las Vegas. The company’s chairman also announced that they are now shipping over 1.5 million ZenFone smartphones a month. ASUS ZenFone 2 sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display and comes with a 72% screen-to-body ration, which means that the display occupies more space in the body rather the bezels. It has a layer of Gorilla Glass 3, which protects the smartphone from scratches and minor sniffs. Under the hood, there’s a 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 processor powering the smartphone and ASUS says that it is up to 3.1 times faster than some of the quad-core competitors. ASUS along with the ZenFone 2 has announced ZenFone Zoom at its event in Las Vegas. ASUS CEO Jonney Shih during his presentation showcased the company’s latest camera phone. ASUS ZenFone Zoom is basically the ZenFone 2 itself with an enhanced rear camera. The device is presumably targeted towards heavy photography users. The ZenFone Zoom sports a 5.5-inch display with a Full HD resolution. Lenovo’s biggest event has always been the Consumer Electronics Show and it’s not any different this year either. The company has introduced P90, which is its first smartphone to be powered by the newest 64-bit Intel Atom Z3560 processor. Lenovo P90 sports a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080p that accounts to a resolution of 440 pixels per inch. Under the hood powering the smartphone is a quad-core 1.83 GHz Intel Atom Z3560 processor along with 2GB of RAM.
