Apple is facing a class action lawsuit over the storage space issue on iOS devices. The company has been accused of misrepresenting the phone’s storage capacity after users upgrade to the new iOS 8 operating system on iPhone 5S, 6 and 6+ devices.
The lawsuit alleges that Apple misleads consumers about the available storage in the iPhone and the iPad by not telling them about the hefty software updates. According to the lawsuit Apple "fails to disclose" to people that as much as 23.1 percent of the advertised storage space on 8 GB and 16 GB devices would be consumed by iOS 8.
Miami residents plaintiffs - Paul Orshan and Christopher Endara are seeking damages and changes to Apple's policies. It also accuses Apple of not working with third-party storage vendors and desktop file transfer utilities for customers to be able to offload their files. The lawsuit states that Apple is "using sharp business techniques" by pushing out hefty software updates to force users to buy the iCloud space.
Apple has not yet commented on the lawsuit.

Snapchat has raised $485.6 million in the latest round of funding. The ephemeral messaging service has secured the funds from a total of 23 investors whose identity is not revealed.
The funding was disclosed in SEC filing by Snapchat. Newly raised capital will reportedly enable Snapchat to diversify into advertising. The company has been in talks to secure capital from a mix of venture-capital firms, money managers and companies. Latest round of funding brings the total amount raised by Snapchat to more than $649 million. Snapchat had earlier raised $20 million in funding in August from Benchmark, Kleiner Perkins, and General Catalyst Partners. This led the valuation of the company at a $10 billion.
Earlier in October, there were reports claiming that Yahoo is looking forward to invest in Snapchat. Meanwhile, in November, the company launched Snapcash tool to transfer money to friends.

Amazon is reportedly planning to launch its Prime service in India, according to a latest report from The Economic Times. The retail giant could also launch a music and movie streaming service in the country.
According to the ET report, which quotes sources, Amazon India “has tasked Nitesh Kripalani, former executive vice president at Multi Screen Media — which runs Sony Entertainment Channels — to get access to ‘digital content’ for the streaming services. Amazon India is even expected to start negotiations with Indian media houses including Yash Raj Films and Eros International. In the US, subscribers have access to more than 15,000 movie and TV shows, and Amazon India is aiming at a library of around the same size.
Moving on the report states that Amazon has started strengthening its logistics and shipping team and is expected to expand its current 6000 members to 14,000 by July this year. The company is currently looking to appoint an executive who will be tasked to roll out the Prime service in India. Amazon India is looking to adopt the "streaming" option rather than letting subscribers "download" music and movies, concluded the report.

Microsoft Lumia 1330 appeared in GFX benchmark few days back that revealed some specifications of the smartphone. Now the back cover of the smartphone has surfaced on Chinese site Baidu that hints at a huge camera sensor with Zeiss optics and Microsoft branding.
The Microsoft Lumia 1335 (RM-1062) has been spotted at the FCC with LTE-Advanced support. This is likely to be the single SIM LTE variant and the dual SIM Lumia 1330 with 3G could launch in emerging markets such as India.
According to earlier leaks, the Microsoft Lumia 1330 would come with a 5.7-inch HD display, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (MSM8926) SoC with Adreno 305 GPU, 1GB RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 14.1-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, Zeiss optics and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The Lumia 1330 should come in several variants - RM-1062, RM-1063, RM-1064, RM-1065, RM-1066 and RM-1067, according to Windows Phone cross promotion network AdDuplex.

Twitter has started rolling out "While You Were Away" feature for some users. As the name suggests, the feature enables users to have a quick look at all the important tweets and topics they have missed since their last login.
The feature showcases a recap of best tweets to the top of a user’s timeline the next time they open their Twitter app or browse the website. Twitter's recent feature is similar to Facebook's news feed that shows you "Top Stories" on the homepage. "Every time you open the Twitter app, you’ll see something great," the company said of the feature in November.
Twitter had also revealed a couple of plans to make the timeline access more easy for the users. The microblogging site earlier stated that over 500 million tweets are sent a day. At present it is not clear how Twitter chooses the top content. It must be noted that the feature is rolling out to few users at the moment and might receive an official rollout soon.

Alcatel OneTouch has announced OS-agnostic PIXI 3 series that comes with Firefox, Windows Phone or Android options, according to customers' needs. It comes in 3.5-inch 3G variant, other 4-inch, 4.5-inch and 5-inch variants come with 4G LTE connectivity.
Commenting on the new PIXI 3 series, ALCATEL ONETOUCH Chief Marketing Officer Dan Dery, said,

The company has also introduced Alcatel OneTouch WATCH. It has a premium and elegant and compact design and offers same look and feel as a traditional watch. The company says that the Smartwatch comes at a Smart Price.

Huawei's new Honor 6 is recognised as one of the best value-for-money devices on the market and this was followed by the Honor 6 Plus, a larger version of the handset catering for phablet demand in Asia. A few weeks ago we reported the Honor 6 Plus wouldn't be coming to Europe but it is now available to buy globally for $399.
Sporting a 5.5 inch Full HD 1080p display, the Honor 6 Plus is powered by Huawei's own octa-core Kirin 925 processor with 3GB RAM and a Mali T628 MP4 GPU. Under the hood is 16GB/32GB internal storage (which can be expanded by up to 128GB using a microSD card) along with a 3600mAh battery.
The handset runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Huawei's Emotion 3.0 user interface and there's a dual 8MP camera setup on the rear that allows you to capture 13MP photos with some impressive photo effects and super fast autofocus (with Huawei claiming the handset will focus in under 0.2 seconds). LG Electronics just released its CES 2015 teaser video that reveals several products, including its most expected LG G Flex successor with a curved screen. Looks like reports about the G Flex 2 announcement at CES 2015 were true. Check out the official teaser video.

The LG G Flex 2 is rumored to come with a curved and flexible P-OLED display and a similar self healing coating that was present on the original G Flex. It is rumored to feature a 1080p display, compared to 720p display on the first G Flex smartphone. Other specifications of the smartphone are not available yet.

BlackBerry may have been through the wringer over the past twelve months but the company is still going strong and their latest handset, the BlackBerry Classic, is now in-stock and available to buy in both the UK and United Arab Emirates.
We've previously heard that ShopBlackBerry will have the handset in-stock and available to ship in mid-January in the UK but if you don't want to wait that long, Selfridges have the BlackBerry Classic available to buy right now for £329.99 SIM free and unlocked. Better still, if you're based in a country where the handset isn't likely to launch, Selfridges will deliver it internationally for £15 (if you're within Europe) or £25 (if you're outside Europe).
If you're located within the United Arab Emirates, you can also get your hands on the BlackBerry Classic from other than the official BlackBerry store in Dubai Mall. Acer has announced Liquid Z410, the company's latest budget 4G smartphone ahead of CES 2015. It has a 4.5-inch qHD screen, is powered by a 64-bit SoC with Mali-760 GPU (MediaTek MT6752 likely) and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera with 80-degree wide-angle lens. It has front-facing speaker and DTS digital audio support for enhanced audio output.
It has Acer's signature AcerRAPID key that allows users to access a range of customizable actions with single touch. The AcerEXTEND feature enables users to take full control of their smartphones via cable or wirelessly using their Windows-based PC, typing with their keyboard, using drag and drop and rich sharing.
No details about the battery yet, but it promises up to 5.5 hours of talk-time and up to 400 hours in standby. Other specifications such as RAM and internal storage are not available yet.
The Acer Liquid Z410 starts at 129 Euros ( US$ 155 / Rs. 9,790 approx.) and goes on sale from February end in EMEA regions.

Xiaomi has announced the Redmi 2 4G smartphone in China as expected. It has the same 4.7-inch HD screen present in Redmi and Redmi 1S, but this is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 64-bit SoC and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with MIUI 6 on top. It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
It has Dual SIM support with 4G LTE (TDD-LTE (B38/B39/B40 /B41), FDD-LTE (B3 / B7) on both the SIM cards. It also comes in separate China Unicom and China Telecom variants with support for suitable bands.

Xiaomi today announced that it sold 61.12 million smartphones in 2014 and has exceeded its 60 million target. This is a 227% increase compared to its sales the previous year. It sold 26.1 million smartphones in first half of 2014.
It has posted revenue of RMB 74.3 billion yuan (US$12 billion approx.) including taxes, an increase of 135% compared to 2013. It raised US$1.1 billion in the latest funding and the company is now valued at US$45 billion, making it the world’s most valuable private tech startup. Lei Jun already announced that Xiaomi aims to sell 100 million devices in 2015.

Motorola's budget Moto G handset was one of the best value-for-money devices when it was announced back at the end of 2013 but came without support for the next-generation 4G LTE network.
