It turns out that yesterday’s rumor about Android Wear smartwatches being next in line for Lollipop update was indeed true. Today, Google has officially announced the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its Wear smartwatch platform. The update is not only about bumping up the Android version number, but it also comes with several new enhancements. One of the exciting additions, which also turns out to be one of the most advertised feature of Android Wear is the watch faces on the Google Play Store. Google updates Hangouts for Android with stickers, video filters and more

Google has given Hangouts for Android a major makeover. The mobile chat and SMS app is getting smarter with new features and enhancements that will bring it in line with other messaging apps. First up, Hangouts is getting into the latest trend of stickers. The app is offering 16 sticker packs including cats, bubbles, festive stickers and more. Secondly, when someone asks “where are you?” during a chat, Hangouts will automatically surface a “share my location” button. After tapping the button a map of your surroundings will appear that can be chosen for Hangouts to share your actual Google Maps location. Hangouts is even adding filters to videos including sepia, vignette, and a black and white option to make your video conversation more fun. Finally, similar to WhatApp and other mobile messaging apps, Hangouts will now add the "last seen" time stamp to conversations that will let your friends know when you were last available on Hangouts. Xiaomi banned from importing and selling handsets in India

The Delhi High Court has given an “ex-parte”  injunction to ban Xiaomi from importing or selling phones in India, as per a latest report from SpicyIP. The Chinese smartphone maker received the order from court order for infringing on Ericsson’s Standard Essential Patents (SEPs). The report says that the court found that Xiaomi in the past had not responded to 6 repeated communication from Ericsson. Ericsson has also filed similar patent cases against Micromax, Gionee and Intex, but as Xiaomi had failed to respond to any communications, the court has taken the measure decision. "While we haven't received an official notice from the Delhi High Court, our legal team is currently evaluating the situation based on the information we have.India is a very important market for Xiaomi and we will respond promptly as needed and in full compliance with Indian laws. Moreover, we are open to working with Ericsson to resolve this matter amicably". Xiaomi India Head, Manu Jain, responded to the Delhi High Court Injunction. Android Wear Watch Face API released

Earlier today, Google announced the Android Wear 5.0 Lollipop update. In addition to the update, Google also announced that the official API for Android Wear watch faces is available to developers. Apple and IBM releases 10 MobileFirst iOS Apps for Business

Apple and IBM have officially released a first wave of business focused iOS apps, following their collaboration announcement in July this year. The main aim of the partnership was to bring iPhones and iPads to enterprise customers. Available exclusively for iPhone and iPad, the apps are specialized and designed for businesses including banking, retail, insurance, financial services, telecommunications and for governments and airlines.Unlike other iOS apps, IBM MobileFirst apps are not available in the iTunes app store. Companies will have to work directly with IBM to have them installed on iOS devices. “This is a big step for iPhone and iPad in the enterprise, and we can’t wait to see the exciting new ways organizations will put iOS devices to work. Facebook brings Trending Section to mobile on Android devices

Facebook has added its popular Trending Topics section on mobile. Available on Android devices, the trending tool allows users to see what topics and stories are most popular on Facebook. Facebook had first launched Trending Topics in January this year on the Web. The feature on the mobile includes a more organized layout that separates things like news stories from what your friends are saying about a specific topic. When you click or tap on a trending topic, you will find five new sections giving topics more content and deeper context. The first two sections, “In the Story” and “Articles” will show you posts from people who are part of a story and how news organizations are covering the story, respectively. Google officially launches YouTube Offline in India for Android and iOS

Yesterday we reported that Google has started rolling out YouTube Offline Playback in India for Android. Today Google has officially launched offline playback feature for both Android and iOS devices in India. This lets you take videos offline to watch later during short periods of low or no internet connectivity. You can update to the latest version of YouTube on Android and iOS to experience offline playback in India. You can add videos to watch it offline by selecting an icon below the video or by selecting Add to Offline from a video’s context menu. Once added, an available offline icon will be displayed below the video. There is a separate playlist called Offline, to view all the videos that are saved offline. You can also remove the saved videos if you don't need them anymore or if you are running out of space on your device. If you have less than 5% of storage space remaining, you won’t be able to add videos to offline. There is a separate offline setting that lets you select the video quality and select option to add over Wi-Fi only. Samsung Galaxy S6 leaks on AnTuTu benchmark

Rumors about Samsung Galaxy S6 are on the rise as specs of the phone has once again surfaced. The Galaxy S6 has appeared in  AnTuTu benchmark test again after it had surfaced last week on the same benchmarking site. Similar to the previous leak, the AnTuTu screenshot show that the Galaxy S6 will have a 5.5 QHD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440, a Samsung Exynos octa-core 64-bit processor, 3 GB of RAM, Android 5.0 Lollipop, and a 16 megapixel rear camera. It is not mentioned if there is a microSD slot, but it does show 32 GB of onboard storage and that the smartphone is running on the newest version of Android 5.0 Lollipop. Last week's AnTuTu benchmark lead had showed that the Galaxy S6 will have a 20MP camera while the latest one shows a 16MP camera. The report also hints that the Galaxy S6 will come in two variants with different processors, depending on the markets in which the handsets launch. Samsung appoints former Nokia VP as UK and Ireland VP

Samsung have appointed former Nokia and Microsoft Mobile Devices boss Conor Pierce as their new Vice President for mobile and IT in the UK & Ireland. Conor Pierce, who headed up Nokia's Mobile Devices division in the region, left Microsoft in October following the acquisition of Nokia and replaced outbound Samsung VP Simon Stanford. Pierce is widely attributed for being instrumental in improving the market share of Windows Phone and Lumia in the UK with various incentives including Nokia Connection (now Lumia Connection), a retail training scheme that incentivized and rewarded sales of Lumia handsets. Upon his sudden departure from Microsoft two months ago, Pierce was widely tipped by industry insiders to replace Stanford at Samsung, who is departing after five years with the Korean manufacturer. At Samsung, Pierce is likely to be involved in all aspects of mobile and IT within the UK and Ireland and will report to new UK and Ireland President Andy Griffiths who is set to join Samsung in February. HERE Maps has finally landed on the Google Play Store. The maps and navigational app from Nokia is available as a free download for Android devices. Prior to this, HERE for Android was available as an open beta for all those interested, but could only be installed by side-loading it onto your device. Nokia HERE Maps includes turn-by-turn directions and points-of-interest, live traffic info and public transport maps and directions. Flipkart reportedly looking to raise another billion dollar funding

It looks like Flipkart is eyeing to raise another round of funding that may be between $700 million and $1 billion, as per latest report from Livemint. The homegrown e-commerce player is currently valued at $6 billion and is expected to reach $11-$12 billion after the fresh round of funding. As per the report minimum three new investors will participate in the latest round of funding, which is expected to be closed within the next 45 days. Qatar Investment Authority, the sovereign wealth fund of Qatar, is one of the new investors Flipkart, said the report. The prospective round of funding will help Flipkart to pursue its aggressive market share acquisition strategy. Carphone Warehouse have updated their website to show that both the Black and White Galaxy Note Edge handsets are in stock and available on Pay Monthly plans or SIM free with free next day delivery. For those wanting the new Galaxy Note Edge, Samsung is still listing a delivery date of 18th December whilst Vodafone - who are confirmed as having a UK network exclusive - are yet to confirm the launch date (although our sources state 18th December). Instagram has announced that it has more than 300 million monthly users. The popular photo sharing app has revealed that over 70 million photos and videos are shared daily, a rise from 60 million since March.
