Confirmed: OnePlus One sold in India will not receive CyanogenMod updates

Cyanogen inked an exclusive deal with the popular Indian manufacturer Micromax, a couple of days ago. The terms of the partnership did create some confusion in the minds of the potential OnePlus One buyers in the country. Back then a press release from Cyanogen said that their mobile operating system will not support any other device expect the Yu branded smartphones in India. The statement came at a time OnePlus launched their device in the sub-continent and this is when things started to get messy. The global version of the OnePlus One is powered by CyanogenMod OS and if the operating system does not get updates in India, what does that mean? Well, thankfully OnePlus came out and publicly addressed the issue with the announcement of their own build. Cyanogen had to clear some uncertainties and they did by saying that they will continue to support for global OnePlus One units including the devices in India. Did the confusion end here? Well, the situation only got worse because the statement was vague. While most of us believed that the Indian version of OnePlus One - which is apparently the global version too, will be getting CyanogenMod OS updates, the fact of the matter ...

Ofcom map lets you check broadband and mobile coverage

Want to check the internet, TV and mobile coverage of a place you're considering holidaying at or buying? It's possible to check each of these results individually and collate the results but Ofcom's new map rolls them into one handy tool. Using the interactive map is quick and simple; simply find the area you want information on and you can switch between 2G, 3G, 4G and broadband coverage. The map also gives you more info on an area including TV quality, average broadband speeds and location of Wi-Fi Hotspots to help you prepare. There's nothing worse than being in a black-spot and whilst Ofcom's new plans for national roaming are some way off yet, the new map makes it easy to search the information and download for offline viewing. The tool also makes it really easy to compare coverage from different networks at the same time and we'd definitely recommend using this tool when considering switching mobile networks or when you're buying a new home.

Apple iPhone 6 vs Honor 6 Photo Gallery

F0r any manufacturer hoping to release a successful slate-style handset, there are likely to be considerable comparisons with the latest handset from Apple who are arguably the most successful at launching candybar style handsets. Huawei's latest handset for Europe may come with the Huawei branding but still aims to compete with the best from Apple so how does the Honor 6 stack up against the juggernaut that is Apple's iPhone 6? The Honor 6 might cost less than the iPhone 6 but it doesn't mean it features reduced specs; in fact, the display is significantly better than the iPhone 6 and offers Full HD resolution on a panel measuring 5 inches compared to the 4.7 inch 750p HD panel on the iPhone 6. The Honor 6 uses IPS LCD technology compared to the Retina Display on the iPhone 6 and in real-world usage, the 326 pixels per inch density offered by the iPhone 6 pales to the Honor 6 which at 445 ppi is significantly more vibrant and immersive. Under the hood the Honor 6 is powered by an octa-core Kirin 920 processor with 3GB RAM, 16GB/32GB storage with microSD card expansion and a Mali-T628 MP4 graphics chip. ...

Google Nexus 6 Gallery, Quick Look

When the Google Nexus 6 was announced back in October, it probably featured on many users' wishlists but a much delayed launch and some confusion around pricing and date has likely affected this. The Nexus 6 has only just gone on sale in the UK - thanks to O2 - and over the weekend, I had a chance to have a very brief hands on with Google's new smartphone. The unit in question was a retail model of the Nexus 6 in Black and as soon as you open the box, the size of the handset strikes you. At 83 mm wide and 159.3 mm tall, the Nexus 6 is definitely big. Google have clearly tried to keep the size as small as possible - the 78.75% screen to body ratio is testament to this - but it's still a substantially large device. As a Galaxy Note 4 user, I'm used to a larger phone but the Nexus 6 feels almost too big. Size aside, the Nexus 6 looks and feels like a premium smartphone with a specs list that ranks among the very best in the market. The display is an AMOLED panel with Quad HD (2k) resolution and 2560 x 1440 ...
