Videocon Telecom has announced that it has upgraded its network to 2.75G EDGE (Enhanced Data for GSM Evolution) by investing around Rs. 130 crores. This promises speeds of up to 473.6 Kbps, about 6 times the maximum speeds delivered by conventional 2G Network.
With this, the company aims to offer 3G like experience to its customers at 2G rates, that too on their existing 2G handsets, without upgrading their handsets. It has also rolled out marketing campaign around it, released a logo for 2.75G EDGE network and has branded it pauney teen G network to get customer attention. It plans to spend approximately Rs. 50 crore on marketing communication on this campaign in next few months.

Sony announced the Smartwatch 3 SWR50 in September this year. The company's first smartwatch that runs on Android Wear landed on the U.S. Google Play Store last month for $249.99. It has a 1.6-inch (320 x 320 pixels) TFT LCD capacitive touch screen display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. Twitter has improved the tools that will allow users to report abusive tweets. The micro blogging site revealed new tools to report harassments thereby making the process more streamlined.
Users can now report abuse using Twitter’s mobile app on iOS and Android. They can add details about the type off harassment they are suffering from such as offensive remarks, images, threats of physical violence, etc. In addition users can even report if they see harassment of others occurring.Twitter has made the reporting tool open and has also reduced the number of steps required and made it “mobile-friendly,” to file complaints from smartphones.
"We’re improving the reporting process to make it much more mobile-friendly, require less initial information, and, overall, make it simpler to flag Tweets and accounts for review. These enhancements similarly improve the reporting process for those who observe abuse but aren’t receiving it directly. Motorola began the Android 5.0 Lollipop soak test for second generation Moto X and Moto G last month. Now, the company is gearing up for the soak test of Moto G first generation.
Motorola is now sending out invites to select Motorola Feedback network members who own Moto G (Gen 1) to participate in the new software preview test in India. The soak tests allow Motorola to see how the new software behaves on a larger number of devices before its actual release. With the help of soak tests, Motorola will gather feedback from users in case of bugs and once the software is ready, it will roll out to general public.
The soak test is scheduled to go live in the next few days but there is no word on exact date for the update. The Android 5.0 features the new Material Design and enhanced security features and other like default ART Runtime, Android L keyboard, new multi tasking panel, animations and more.

Sony is rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition (GPE) devices. This makes the Xperia Z Ultra GPe one of the first Google Play edition devices to officially receive Lollipop.
The update with build number LRX21P.S3.4201 weighs in at 397.3MB and requires 500MB of free space on the Ultra before it can be installed. Sony Z Ultra GPe Android 5.0 Lollipop update introduces a bold new visual style, improves performance, new option of seeing notifications at lock screen, extend time between charges with battery saving mode, manage notifications with automatic interruption controls, smart lock feature, screencast option.

Gmail web users can now easily open and edit Microsoft Office attachments. The company is adding adding conversion support in Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides for 15 new Office file formats.
Prior to the update, Google had made this feature for Drive, but the recent update makes the process much easier for Gmail. The files support list includes less common formats spread across Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
New formats supported include:
dot, dotx, dotm*, docm* conversions to Google Docs
xlt, xltx, xltm*, xlsm* conversions to Google Sheets
pot, potx, potm*, pptm*, pps, ppsx, ppsm* conversions to Google Slides
Now, you can start editing Office files right from Gmail as you will see a new edit icon on the attachments. As soon as you click it will automatically convert the file into the appropriate Drive app for you to begin editing immediately. The update also brings improved support for charts, images and tables. In addition, users will get all the extra useful features of Google’s office suite, including having a full file history to fall back on.

Vodafone Ireland has begun rolling out its next-generation 4G+ LTE-Advanced network in Waterford City with further plans to roll out the service in the cities of Cork, Dublin and Limerick by the end of December. Mozilla may soon bring its Firefox browser to iOS, said Mozilla's release manager, Lukas Blakk on Twitter. The company plans to increase its user base with this move.
Mozilla kept its distance from iOS platform because of Apple’s strict requirement that third-party web browsers must be based on its own WebKit web engine. Current third-party iOS browsers like Chrome or Opera can only operate on iOS because they use Apple’s own JavaScript and rendering engines.
The company is expected that the Firefox browser might use WebKit and add its own layer of interface and syncing functionality that will allow users tp access their bookmarks, tabs and passwords across their desktop and mobile browser versions. It is still unclear as to how and when Mozilla plans to bring Firefox to iOS.

Vivo is all set to unveil the Vivo X5 Max smartphone at an event in China on December 10th. The main highlight of the smartphone is its 4.75mm slim body, thinner than the 4.85mm Oppo R5, which is currently the world's slimmest smartphone. The smartphone got certified on TENAA last month. It measures 153.9 × 78 × 4.75mm and weighs 146 grams.
According to the TENAA listing, the Vivo X5 Max is said to come with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 1.7GHz Octa-Core processor, Android 4.4 (KitKat), 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage with expansion slot (up to 128GB), support for 4G TD-LTE, TD-SCDMA connectivity and dual SIM support. It is expected to come with a metal back.
We should know other specifications and the pricing at the official Vivo X5 Max announcement next week. It is likely to launch in China first and expand to other countries later.
Twitter is taking a cue from Instagram and adding new filters to enhance photo sharing experience. The micro blogging site is bringing new photo filters to Android and iOS apps
Filters can be enabled after a photo is added to a tweet by selecting the image, which brings up Twitter's in-app photo editing menu. All filters are now presented at the bottom of the image page similar to Instagram. Filter options slide out in a swipeable line and users can select from Radiant, Positive, Warm, Breeze, Glow, Golden, Fame, and Stark. Double tapping a filter after making a selection brings up an adjustable slider that enables users to adjust the filter density.
The latest update comes from Twitter two years after it had first introduced photo filters in 2012. Earlier today, Twitter improved tools for reporting online abuse on the site.

Yota Devices announced the YotaPhone 2 back in February at the MWC. Last month the company announced that the smartphone would be launched at an event in London on December 3rd. It launched the smartphone at an event in Russia today and it is priced at 32,990 Rubles (US$605 / 490 Euros approx). It is available for purchase from the official online store in Russia. At the event the company's CEO confirmed to Sputnik that it will go on sale in Europe this week. It will roll out in 20 European countries this year and will go on sale in China and the rest of Asia-Pacific early 2015 with Canada and Latin America later. This first YotaPhone was launched for 499 Euros, so it is likely to be at a similar price in Europe.

Freecharge has launched “speak to recharge” feature on its Windows Mobile App. The online recharge and couponing service is adding the ability for users to recharge their mobile phones, DTH connections with a voice command.
Users can create a “Voice Card” and associate it with any command. In order to create a Voice card they will have to open the FreeCharge app and do a successful recharge. Once the recharge is done tap the ‘save as voice card’ button shown on the recharge response page. Give a name to the voice card and tap on ‘save’. This will create a voice card with all the recharge information taken from the previous transaction.
Once the voice card is created, users can just speak this voice command into the windows mobile phone and get recharge done without any other action. The Voice Card is synced with Cortana, Windows Phone’s voice assistant programme, and you have to long press say the voice command.

Almost three weeks after releasing the OTA updates and pushing Android 5.0 (Lollipop) factory images, Google has released factory images for Android 5.0.1 for the Nexus 9, Nexus 10 and Nexus 7 (2013) and also pushed the same to AOSP. There is no official changelog for this minor update, but according to a commenter over at the Android Police, this update is to fix a bug that could cause stray input on the lock screen to erase everything on the device.
Google usually releases bug fix updates for the Nexus devices upon hearing the comments from the users. Few weeks after releasing the Android 4.4.3, Google released Android 4.4.4 update to fix security issues. Google Nexus devices starting from the Nexus 4 are likely to get the Android 5.0.1 over-the-air (OTA) update soon.
