CPU-Z was released for Android back in June last year. Since then the app has been updated with new features and support for SoCs from several manufacturers. Few months back the app got improved support for Intel SoCs, option to view OpenGL ES version. Now the app has been updated to version 1.09 that brings improved support for processors based on big.LITTLE technology, adds new HiSilicon Kirin 920, Exynos 5433, Snapdragon 815 and SoCs, shows Adreno GPU clock speed and more.
Previously is was showing battery technology, health, temperature and voltage, now it also shows the total battery capacity in mAh. It also shows screen size in inches, in addition to the screen resolution. Check out the complete changelog below.

Lenovo announced the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro in August and launched in India in September for Rs 32,999. The phone has a 6-inch ( 2560 x 1440 pixels) Quad HD display with ultra narrow bezels, powered 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 (8974AC) processor with Adreno 330 GPU and Android 4.4 (KitKat) with Vibe UI 2.0. We went hands on with the Vibe Z2 smartphone at the IFA 2014. Lets take a look at hardware of the phone in this photo gallery.
Vibe Z2 Pro has 5MP front-facing camera and the earpiece and LED notofication.
There are three capacitive buttons below.
At the top it has a 3.5mm audio jack.
Loudspeaker grill and micro USB port are situated at the bottom.
On the right side we can see SIM card slot and the power button.

The Vibe Z2 Pro is encompassed in a plastic body, it is sleek and measures 156 x 81.3 x 7.7 mm and weighs 179g.
At the back the phone has 16-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash, optical image stabilization (OIS) and offer 16:9 camera sensor. The camera and dual LED flash are placed on a glossy back panel top on the phone.

BlackBerry and Samsung have joined hands to further boost mobile security solutions on Android. The security focused partnership will bring BlackBerry's encryption system to businesses using Samsung's Galaxy smartphones.
In early 2015, Samsung will integrate BlackBerry's BES12 end-to-end encryption service, into its own Knox software. Samsung KNOX and BES12 will offer complete separation of business and personal data. The upcoming security suite will also provide enhancements that address some of the Android-specific security issues. It will bring a series of core security enhancements to better protect device integrity from kernel to apps.
“BlackBerry has developed a very close partnership with Samsung and we’re committed to deepening the interaction between our engineering and product development teams for the long-term. It is a natural progression in our path to providing our customers with more alternatives to meet their evolving mobile needs. Samsung KNOX offers a number of hardware and software security features and our partnership allows us to tightly integrate these capabilities with BES12.”
said John Sims, President of Global Enterprise Services, BlackBerry in a statement.
The pricing and availability of this security solution is not known as yet. In July, Apple and IBM teamed up to bring iPhone and iPad to enterprise customers.

Sony has posted source code and binaries for the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact. The company is yet to release the Android Lollipop Update for these devices, however it has already confirmed that it will release it soon.
Last week, Sony announced Android 5.0 Lollipop beta test on Xperia Z1, Z2 and Z3. Google pushed Lollipop source code to AOSP last week. Developers can use the kernel source to build a version of stock Android for these devices, or use it as the basis for a custom ROM. The source code and binaries released today can be used as a base for developing your own version of Android for devices from the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z1 series, which have an unlocked boot loader.
Sony said that there a couple of limitations like the camera is not working and the modem is not enabled, which means you cannot take photos or make phone calls. You can get more info about it at Sony Developer World.

NVIDIA already announced that the Shield Tablet would be updated to Android 5.0 (Lollipop). Earlier this month the company announced that the update would be available as early as this November and also released a teaser video. Now it has announced that the update would roll out on November 18th. It has released another video that details the new features that the Lollipop update brings.

Along with Android 5.0′s Material UI for NVIDIA’s Shield, the update also brings new Dabbler 2.0 art studio with full support for layers, SHIELD Hub, NVIDIA GRID gaming services, and new games like Half-Life 2: Episode one. NVIDIA has also announced a new GRID game streaming service that offers cloud gaming that will be streamed to SHIELD devices by connecting to NVIDIA GPU servers for a GeForce GTX gaming experience.
The enabling technologies of GRID are super-low-latency from controller streaming to graphics to game streaming. And, virtualization so that many gamers can share the Geforce cloud gaming supercomputer, said NVIDIA. Currently it has 20 games that includes, Batman: Arkham City, Borderlands 2, Brutal Legend, Psychonauts and more worth over $400. More games will be added every week, said the company.

Microsoft has launched a new video editing app for Windows Phone. Dubbed as Movie Creator, the app which is currently in beta works only on Lumia phones and the Lumia 2520 tablet.
The Movie creator app allows users to mix photos, videos, music, cinemagraphs, living images and location data into movies. Users can even choose from a wide range of themes and filters. The app lets you create movies using up to 25 videos you have recorded on your phone and they can be easily shared once are created. In addition to themes, you can also set captions for your masterpiece, or set it to a particular piece of music.
Users can edit the length of your footage, freely move clips to different places on your video timeline and even pan, zoom, and rotate. The app does not affect your original photos and videos and it automatically saves your project so you can check them anytime. Movie creator app is currently restricted to only Lumia Windows Phone.

BlackBerry has started taking pre-order for the BlackBerry Classic, the company's latest top-end smartphone with a physical QWERTY keyboard. It is the successor of the BlackBerry Q10 that was launched last year. The Classic was originally announced as BlackBerry Q20 back in February and it was expected to launch this month.
BlackBerry has not revealed the complete specifications of the BlackBerry Classic yet. It will have a 3.5-inch touch screen display, that is the largest display ever on a QWERTY BlackBerry smartphone, the company said at the announcement earlier this year. It runs on BlackBerry OS 10.3.1, has HSPA+/ LTE connectivity via a nano SIM card.
The BlackBerry Classic is now available for pre-order from the official BlackBerry Shop in the U.S. for US$ 449, in UK for 349 GBP and in France and Germany for 429 Euros. It is expected to ship mid-December 2014. BlackBerry will launch the smartphone at several events in NYC, Frankfurt and Singapore on December 17th.

Oculus Rift has released the mobile software development kit (SDK) for Samsung's Gear VR Innovation headset. The Gear VR is powered by the Oculus Mobile software and therefore comes with an official Mobile Software Development Kit that will encourage developers to prepare some apps for the new platform.
The SDK carries source codes for three VR apps - Oculus Cinema, Oculus 360 Photos and Oculus 360 Videos. All these apps come with an open licence which will help developers to modify or change any part in order to come up with their own creation. The Gear VR offers several fancy-sounding features that are supported by the Mobile SDK of Oculus. These include direct warped content, real-time CPU threading, fine grained GPU context switching in real time, GPU context priorities, clock frequency locking, direct front buffer rendering, and asynchronous timewarp.
"The initial version of the Oculus Mobile SDK is specifically designed for the Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition on Note 4, and includes everything you need to get started developing for mobile. We’ve been working on the Mobile SDK for over a year in collaboration with Samsung, optimizing the Note 4 tech stack to deliver the first ultra-low latency, mobile virtual reality headset."

Asus has launched Transformer Pad TF103 and Transformer Book T200 tablets in India. The Asus Transformer Pad TF103 is an Android tablet running Android 4.4 (KitKat) and the Transformer Book T200 is a portable Windows 8.1 tablet with a 11.6-inch screen that transforms into a laptop with a full-size keyboard dock. Asus also launched the Transformer Flip Book, a 15.6” laptop with 360-degree rotating touchscreen.

VSCO Cam has introduced a new iPad version taking advantage of the Retina Display in newer models. The version 4.0 brings full support for iOS 8 and larger screens on the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
The popular photo sharing app for iPhone is also getting updated with advanced camera controls, including manual focus, shutter speed, white balance and exposure compensation. A new syncing feature has been added that allows users to edit photos taken on their iPhone with an iPad, or vice versa. It also has a new Web uploader tool, which lets photographers import dSLR photos for editing.
A Preview Gallery is added to the app that enables you to view multiple filters side-by-side before making a selection. In addition, VSCOcam gets "Journal" that allows users to layout multiple photos aligned with text to tell the story of what they shot. This feature is available on both iPhone and iPad.

We had seen USB OTG drives for Android phones with a micro USB on one side and a standard USB connector on the other side to transfer files from PCs or laptops to supported Android smartphones and tablets. SanDisk has introduced iXpand Flash Drive, a OTG drive for Apple iPhone and iPad. PQI released a similar OTG stick called Gmobi iStick earlier this year.
The iXpand sync app syncs files when the iXpand Flash Drive is plugged into an iPhone or iPad and can be configured to automatically sync photos and videos. SwiftKey has introduced Chinese language support for its keyboard in beta on Android. The popular third party keyboard said that Chinese is on of the most requested language and hence the company has launched the support for the same.

The Sharp Aquos Crystal has a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) S-CG Silicon LCD display with almost no bezels on the sides and the top. The bezel on the bottom is for the front-facing camera, earpiece and the sensors. Aviary has received an update that brings a bunch of new features. This is the first update to the photo editor app that was acquired by Adobe in September.
Aviary app update for Android and iOS now syncs all of your in-app tools with Creative Cloud after you sign in with a requisite Adobe ID. In addition, the app adds over $200 worth of effects, stickers, frames and add-ons and users can get them for free until the end of this month. In case of iOS, the Aviary app is now optimized for the higher resolution screens of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
The app for iOS also gets Draw tool which comes with re-built brush technology that makes drawing on photos feel more natural and lifelike. Other photo editing tools like Vignettes, highlights, shadow, tint and fade are also coming to app on both the platforms.

Sharp has developed a new 4.1” IGZO LCD display with 736 pixels per inch (ppi). According to Sharp, its new display has the same pixel density as a 6-inch 4K display. The highest-resolution LCD panel that the company has so far developed is a low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) panel that has a resolution slightly lower than 550ppi.
The Japanese company has managed to pack in about 4 million pixels into a space just 4.1 inches across. While normal display pixels are around 27µm, Sharp has developed a smaller one at 11µm allowing them to fit more of them into a smaller display array. Sharp believes this panel will see 4K displays in smartphones become a common thing. It must be noted that human eye can only distinguish upto 550 ppi.
The company aims to start volume production of the new panel in 2016, planning to start to ship samples for design-in in 2015.

Gionee has launched CTRL V6L and Pioneer P5L LTE smartphone and has announced P4S and P6 smartphones. The Gionee CTRL V6L has a 5-inch HD screen, powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 SoC, comes with a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Samsung launched the Galaxy Alpha smartphone India back in September in Charcoal Black, Dazzling White, Frosted Gold, Sleek Silver and Scuba Blue color variants. We already brought you the hands on and the photo gallery of the Samsung Galaxy Alpha in Charcoal Black variant from IFA and reviewed the Dazzling White variant. Sony has posted source code and binaries for the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact. The company is yet to release the Android Lollipop Update for these devices, however it has already confirmed that it will release it soon.
Last week, Sony announced Android 5.0 Lollipop beta test on Xperia Z1, Z2 and Z3. Google pushed Lollipop source code to AOSP last week. Developers can use the kernel source to build a version of stock Android for these devices, or use it as the basis for a custom ROM. The source code and binaries released today can be used as a base for developing your own version of Android for devices from the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z1 series, which have an unlocked boot loader.

NVIDIA already announced that the Shield Tablet would be updated to Android 5.0 (Lollipop). Earlier this month the company announced that the update would be available as early as this November and also released a teaser video. Now it has announced that the update would roll out on November 18th. It has released another video that details the new features that the Lollipop update brings.

Microsoft has launched a new video editing app for Windows Phone. Dubbed as Movie Creator, the app which is currently in beta works only on Lumia phones and the Lumia 2520 tablet.
The Movie creator app allows users to mix photos, videos, music, cinemagraphs, living images and location data into movies. Users can even choose from a wide range of themes and filters. The app lets you create movies using up to 25 videos you have recorded on your phone and they can be easily shared once are created. In addition to themes, you can also set captions for your masterpiece, or set it to a particular piece of music.
Users can edit the length of your footage, freely move clips to different places on your video timeline and even pan, zoom, and rotate. The app does not affect your original photos and videos and it automatically saves your project so you can check them anytime. Movie creator app is currently restricted to only Lumia Windows Phone.

BlackBerry has started taking pre-order for the BlackBerry Classic, the company's latest top-end smartphone with a physical QWERTY keyboard. It is the successor of the BlackBerry Q10 that was launched last year. The Classic was originally announced as BlackBerry Q20 back in February and it was expected to launch this month.
BlackBerry has not revealed the complete specifications of the BlackBerry Classic yet. It will have a 3.5-inch touch screen display, that is the largest display ever on a QWERTY BlackBerry smartphone, the company said at the announcement earlier this year. It runs on BlackBerry OS 10.3.1, has HSPA+/ LTE connectivity via a nano SIM card.
The BlackBerry Classic is now available for pre-order from the official BlackBerry Shop in the U.S. for US$ 449, in UK for 349 GBP and in France and Germany for 429 Euros. It is expected to ship mid-December 2014. BlackBerry will launch the smartphone at several events in NYC, Frankfurt and Singapore on December 17th.
Oculus Rift has released the mobile software development kit (SDK) for Samsung's Gear VR Innovation headset. The Gear VR is powered by the Oculus Mobile software and therefore comes with an official Mobile Software Development Kit that will encourage developers to prepare some apps for the new platform.
The SDK carries source codes for three VR apps - Oculus Cinema, Oculus 360 Photos and Oculus 360 Videos. All these apps come with an open licence which will help developers to modify or change any part in order to come up with their own creation. The Gear VR offers several fancy-sounding features that are supported by the Mobile SDK of Oculus. These include direct warped content, real-time CPU threading, fine grained GPU context switching in real time, GPU context priorities, clock frequency locking, direct front buffer rendering, and asynchronous timewarp.

The Asus Transformer Pad TF103 is an Android tablet running Android 4.4 (KitKat) and the Transformer Book T200 is a portable Windows 8.1 tablet with a 11.6-inch screen that transforms into a laptop with a full-size keyboard dock. VSCO Cam has introduced a new iPad version taking advantage of the Retina Display in newer models. The version 4.0 brings full support for iOS 8 and larger screens on the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
The popular photo sharing app for iPhone is also getting updated with advanced camera controls, including manual focus, shutter speed, white balance and exposure compensation. A new syncing feature has been added that allows users to edit photos taken on their iPhone with an iPad, or vice versa. It also has a new Web uploader tool, which lets photographers import dSLR photos for editing.
A Preview Gallery is added to the app that enables you to view multiple filters side-by-side before making a selection. SwiftKey has introduced Chinese language support for its keyboard in beta on Android. The popular third party keyboard said that Chinese is on of the most requested language and hence the company has launched the support for the same.

Aviary has received an update that brings a bunch of new features. This is the first update to the photo editor app that was acquired by Adobe in September.
Aviary app update for Android and iOS now syncs all of your in-app tools with Creative Cloud after you sign in with a requisite Adobe ID. In addition, the app adds over $200 worth of effects, stickers, frames and add-ons and users can get them for free until the end of this month. In case of iOS, the Aviary app is now optimized for the higher resolution screens of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
The app for iOS also gets Draw tool which comes with re-built brush technology that makes drawing on photos feel more natural and lifelike. Other photo editing tools like Vignettes, highlights, shadow, tint and fade are also coming to app on both the platforms.

Sharp has developed a new 4.1” IGZO LCD display with 736 pixels per inch (ppi). According to Sharp, its new display has the same pixel density as a 6-inch 4K display. The highest-resolution LCD panel that the company has so far developed is a low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) panel that has a resolution slightly lower than 550ppi.
The Japanese company has managed to pack in about 4 million pixels into a space just 4.1 inches across. While normal display pixels are around 27µm, Sharp has developed a smaller one at 11µm allowing them to fit more of them into a smaller display array. Sharp believes this panel will see 4K displays in smartphones become a common thing. It must be noted that human eye can only distinguish upto 550 ppi.
The company aims to start volume production of the new panel in 2016, planning to start to ship samples for design-in in 2015.
