HTC Desire 820 Benchmarks

HTC launched the Desire 820 smartphone in India last month for Rs. 24990. We already brought you the unboxing of the smartphone, here we have the benchmarks of the device. The Desire 820 is powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 64-bit processor that has four ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.54 GHz per core and other four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.0 GHz per core. It has Adreno 405 GPU. LG has launched Tone Infinim (HBS-900), premium Bluetooth stereo headset developed in collaboration with Harman/Kardon in India. It was unveiled back in March, has a stylish design that is almost similar to previous Tone series headsets from LG, but this has a glossy metallic finish. It has retractable wire management technology for tangle-free operation, jog button to fast forward and rewind, sound and vibration alert to inform of incoming messages, current time and battery status. The headset's Innovative UX offers various convenient functions such as current time alert, SMS/SNS Replay, Speed Dial, Direct Dial, Favorite Call and Advanced Vibration Alert. Yahoo acquires video ad platform BrightRoll for $640M

Yahoo has scooped up video ad platform BrightRoll for $640M in cash. BrightRoll will continue to operate independently “with Yahoo’s additional investment and global support.” The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2015. The acquisition is aimed at boosting Yahoo's position in digital advertising market. Mayer said that BrightRoll is expected to generate more than $100 million in net revenue this year. She also stated that video is one of the four core pillars of Yahoo's business strategy, alongside mobile, social, and native advertising. "Video is display 2.0...We say that video is display 2.0 because we believe it can reinvent and replace the branded banner advertisement. Video, along with mobile, social, and native, represents a new format of online advertising that has the potential to help us transform and modernize Yahoo’s display business and return it to growth." posted Marissa Mayer on a company blog post. Samsung and SAP team up for Enterprise Wearable Apps

Samsung has announced that it is collaborating with SAP to create enterprise mobility apps for mobile devices and wearables. The two companies said they will collaborate to “build on the popularity and reach of Samsung’s mobile innovations and the SAP Mobil Platform,” according to a joint statement from the companies. “As a market leader in smart devices and solutions, we know how to bridge consumer expectations for what a premium mobile experience should feel like with a readiness for the enterprise environment. We’re committed to building a world-class, open, and comprehensive enterprise mobility ecosystem and delivering the best-in-class enterprise solutions that combine the strengths of Samsung’s mobile innovations and the SAP Mobile Platform.” said Seokpil Kim, head of the Global B2B Center at Samsung Electronics. Snapchat now alerts users about third party apps automatically

In a bid to boost user privacy even further, Snapchat is undertaking a new measure. The ephemeral messaging service will now start issuing warnings to users on such apps and asking them to change their passwords to protect their privacy. The move comes from Snapchat a month after more than one lakh photos were leaked online following a third party breach. It was claimed the images were collected over a number of years through which allow users to save and videos. "Starting today, we will notify Snapchatters when we have detected that they may be using third-party apps and we’ll ask those Snapchatters to change their password and stop using unauthorized apps." posted Snapchat on a company blog. Notion Ink has launched the Cain 8, the company's latest Windows 8 tablet in India, as it promised. It has a 8-inch (1280×800 pixels) IPS screen and is powered by an quad-core Intel Atom Z3735D processor. It has a 2-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It comes with free Microsoft Office license for one year and 1TB OneDrive cloud storage. Acer Iconia Tab 7 A1-724 with 7-inch HD display, Snapdragon 410 shows up in benchmarks

Press shots of the Acer Iconia Tab 7 A1-724, the company's upcoming tablet with voice calling capabilities surfaced last month. Now the tablet has surfaced on GFXBench database that reveals the specifications of the tablet. According to the listing, the tablet has a 7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display, 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 64-bit SoC with Adreno 306 GPU and Android 4.4.4 (KitKat). It would come with a 5-megapixel rear camera with 1080p video recording and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Other details revealed in the benchmarks include, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and the usual set of connectivity features such as WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. It has single SIM card slot for data and voice calling capabilities, you can also see dual front-facing speakers from the image. Acer unveiled the Iconia Tab 7 A1-713HD tablet with a 7-inch display and voice calling capabilities earlier this year, but that is powered by a quad-core MediaTek chip. Samsung announces Project Beyond – a camera capable of capturing 360 degree videos for Gear VR

Samsung at its annual developer conference in San Francisco announced a new 3D camera, which is unique in a lot of ways. The global market leader calls it Project Beyond and says they designed is exclusively to capture 360 degree videos – which can be utilized on the upcoming Gear VR virtual reality headset. Pranav Mistry, Vice President of Research and head of the Think Tank Team at Samsung introduced in the Project Beyond. For starters, the camera looks like a hockey puck, but it actually contains about 16 side cameras with ultra-wide lenses, which have the ability to capture video footage at the rate of one giga-pixel per second. Furthermore, there’s a camera on the top of the Project Beyond camera and it captures all the overhead shots. Unfortunately, Samsung did not reveal the product availability details, but one thing is certain – Samsung is very serious on offering great content for all its Gear VR consumers. At the Samsung Developer Conference, Samsung today announced that the Gear VR Innovator Edition will be made available in the US starting early December. The product combines the display and sensors of the Galaxy Note 4 with the technical know how provided by Oculus to create an interesting virtual reality experience.   “Samsung is excited to launch our first virtual reality experience, Gear VR Innovator Edition. Galaxy Note Edge UK release set for November 28

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge will go on sale in the UK on November 28 after Samsung announced Old Blighty had been chosen as one of the launch countries. Announced back at IFA 2014, the Galaxy Note Edge is almost identical to the Galaxy Note 4 aside from the unique curved Edge Screen secondary display. In a statement to The Inquirer, Samsung said: Samsung can confirm that the UK is one of the markets that has been chosen to range the Galaxy Note Edge. The device will be available to buy from selected retailers from Friday 28th November, with the option to pre-order from Samsung eStore and Carphone Warehouse on Friday 14th November. Alongside the Samsung eStore and Carphone Warehouse, the Galaxy Note Edge will also be available from Vodafone after the network added the handset to its coming soon page. There's no word on price however but Samsung have previously said the Galaxy Note Edge will not have a massive launch and it's likely the handset will cost considerably more than the Galaxy Note 4. Android 5.0 Lollipop factory images for Nexus 5, 7 WiFi (2012 & 2013) and 10 now available

Immediately after it started rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop over-the-air (OTA) update, Google has released factory images and binaries for the Nexus 5, WiFi variants of both Nexus 7 2012 and Nexus 7 2013 and the Nexus 10. Factory images and binaries for the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 6 are not available yet. Google released factory images for Nexus 9 and the Nexus Player last week. Now a minor bug fix update takes the Nexus 9's build version from LRX21L to LRX21Q. The Android 5.0 Lollipop update brings Material Design with bold, colorful, and responsive UI design, better notifications, battery saver feature, better security including  Android Smart Lock, New Quick Settings, Improved network hand offs, flexible sharing, faster, smoother and more powerful experience with ART, 15 new languages and more. If you don’t have the update yet, you can download the factory images for these devices from the Google Developers website here. Motorola starts rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Moto X(2014) and Moto G (2014)

Soon after releasing Android 5.0 soak tests for second generation Moto X and Moto G, Motorola is now kick starting the roll out of Lollipop on Moto X  (2nd Gen), Moto G (2nd Gen.) U.S. GSM and Moto G (2nd Gen.) Global GSM versions sold in the U.S. "We’re working hard with our carrier partners to bring this update to more of our devices as soon as we can." said Motorola in a company blog post. The company is rolling out updates in phases. As expected, Android 5.0 update will bring Material Design UI to enable natural touch screen interactions. The look of the UI revamps with new vivid new colors, typography, and edge-to-edge imagery. In addition Motorola has introduced new settings dubbed as "Downtime" and "Interruption" that lets users toggle notifications for select apps and people. Moving on, a new "Guest Mode" has been added that limits the access to certain apps. Finally, flashlight is added to quick settings and battery settings panel now shows an estimated projection for how much time you have left even while you're charging.
