Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 4, the company’s latest smartphone in the Note series powered by a Snapdragon 805 SoC earlier this month . Twitter acquires Twitpic, will maintain domain and photo archive

Twitter has scooped up Twitpic, a service that allowed users to attach photos to their tweets. The micro blogging site will maintain Twitpic's domain and photo archive. "I’m happy to announce that we have reached an agreement with Twitter to give them the Twitpic domain and photo archive, thus keeping the photos and links alive for the time being. Twitter shares our goal of protecting our users and this data. Also, since Twitpic’s user base consists of Twitter users, it makes sense to keep this data with Twitter". posted Twitpic creator Noah Everett announced Saturday in a blog post. Twitpic was built on Twitter’s API, offering users a way to share photo which Twitter started offering in 2011. The company announced in September that it would be closing down and deleting all the pictures it had hosted. Soon after, the company announced that it would be shutting down fully on October 25 due to lack of interest. However, few weeks later it said that it is close to an acquisition which did not fell through. Motorola Droid Turbo has leaked again in photos and this time it is seen in retail packaging. The latest phone from Motorola which is scheduled for a launch on October 28th has been leaked numerous times since past few months. As per the photos, the phone is packed in a black retial box the also contains the Motorola's Turbo Charger. The phone sports the Kevlar rear back panel and three capacitive buttons on the screen. We already know the detail specs of the phone that was leaked in a user manual earlier this month. Also, the Droid Turbo was seen in leaked press images two weeks back. Samsung Galaxy S5 will reportedly receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in December. The latest version of Android operating system was announced by Google earlier this month. SamMobile has confirmed from its sources that the Galaxy S5 will be updated to latest Android 5.0 in December. However, it must be noted that the rollout will be in phases and will vary from region to region. It is expected that unlocked device will receive the update first followed by other types of Galaxy S5 handsets. The report further states that Samsung is redesigning TouchWiz UI to match Google's latest Android 5.0 The latest version of Android brings a slew of features like the Material Design, lockscreen notifications, multi-user support for phones and so on. Google tests Material Design for Mobile web search

Google has already started loading its various apps with new elements and features of Android 5.0 Lollipop. Today, the company is testing Material Design for mobile web search. Some of the users are seeing changes in mobile web search via Chrome for Android. The search has been integrated with a refreshed UI and new set of animations. Screenshots showing these changes had appeared on Amazon's Mechanical Turk which is a testing ground for various tasks. The mobile search is also getting smoother interactions as per the screenshots. It must be noted that these are mere mock-ups and not a full fledged functional search. The search puts more emphasis on card based display with larger images. Google has already updated Play Store and Play Music with all the elements and animations from Material Design. Xiaomi clarifies it does not collect user data without permission

Xiaomi has clarified that its smartphones are not a security threat. The Chinese smartphone maker has made the clarification after the Indian Air Force (IAF) had issued a circular to its 175,000 personnel to shun the use of Xiaomi smartphones either by them, or their family members on suspicions that the company is using their phones to spy on its users on behalf of the Chinese government. The company says that it offers opt-in secure internet service that is optional and users can turn them off whenever they wish. Xiaomi provides Mi cloud that enables users to back up and sync their data on cloud while it also offers cloud messaging that allows free text messaging among other Mi device. Xiaomi further stated that it does not collect any data associated with services such as Mi Cloud and Cloud Messaging until the user provides explicit consent by turning on the corresponding service(s). Xiaomi also claimed that it uses high encryption and security standards including AES-128 standard to protect user data.   Mobiliya, an AgreeYa Mobility company has partnered with Wham! Mobiles to launch a range of smartphones in India. These come with anti theft protection, parental control, location tracking and child mode. All these smartphones are powered by 1.2 GHz dual-core processors and 4-inch or 5-inch AMOLED displays depending on the model. These have 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity. The Wiry W1 model has a 4-inch (640x360 pixels) nHD AMOLED display based on One Glass Solution technology. It has a 5-megapixel camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 1GB RAM, 4GB of internal storage and 1100mAh battery. It is available for Rs. 5,399. Other devices include, WK41, WD38 and the WK44. New Apple iPads boast of NFC chip, likely used as Secure Element

Apple's recently launched iPads have been spotted with NFC chip that is already seen on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The chip's main use in the iPhones is for the Apple Pay service. A latest report from 9to5Mac is claiming that the NFC chip in the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 might be used as a Secure Element for Apple Pay's in app purchases. Apple Pay, the latest mobile wallet from Apple, is available for in-app purchases on the Touch ID-equipped iPad Air 2. However,the device is not capable of making contactless payments at NFC terminals like the new iPhones. Meanwhile, iLounge report states that Apple has not certified NFC functionality for iPad Air 2 with the FCC. This further suggests that the NFC chip is likely used only as a Secure Element. Apple will shut down Beats Music and integrate it to iTunes, according to a latest report from the Wall Street Journal. The report states that it has heard about this information from a familiar source. iTunes revenue dropped about 14% since the beginning of 2014. The report comes a month after Apple denied rumors about shutting down Beats Music. The report does not mention how will the Beats integration with iTunes will exactly look like. Apple announced the Beats acquisition in May this year for $3.2 billion. Digital Music purchase has declined owing to the rise of music streaming services like Spotify, Pandora and others.The Beats integration will make Apple's iTunes even stronger. Apple already has iTunes Radio service that was announced last year. LG introduced the Isai FL (LGL24) for Japanese operator KDDI back in May. Today the company has refreshed the smartphone and introduced a new variant called isai VL (LGV31) with 3GB RAM and Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) support. Other specifications are similar to the Isai FL, including a 5.5-inch (2560×1440 pixels) Quad HD IPS display, 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor with Adreno 330, Android 4.4 (KitKat), 13.2-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, 4K video recording and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Twitter reports $361M in revenue, 284 MAU in Q3 2014

Twitter reported its third quarter earnings with a revenue of  $361M, more than double what it did for the same period in 2013. The micro blogging site's revenue, most of which comes from advertising, increased sharply in the third quarter. Revenue more than doubled to $361.3 million, compared with $168.6 million a year ago, exceeding Wall Street’s projection of $352 million. Advertising revenue totaled $320 million, an increase of 109% year-over-year while mobile advertising revenue was 85% of total advertising revenue. Twitter reported a loss of $174.5 million from $64.6 million a year earlier. "We had another very strong financial quarter. I'm confident in our ability to build the largest daily audience in the world, over time, by strengthening the core, reducing barriers to consumption and building new apps and services." said Dick Costolo, CEO of Twitter. Twitter now has 284 million monthly active users, up 23% compared to the year-earlier quarter. 80% of these users access the micro blogging site on mobile. It added 13 million monthly active users in the three months through September.
