Google turned 16 over the weekend on September 27th. The tech behemoth celebrated its birthday with a cake that has lollipops instead of candles on top of it thereby hinting that the next Android OS might be dubbed as 'Android Lollipop'. Google has been naming its operating systems alphabetically after various sweets and until now we have seen cupcake, donut, éclair, froyo, gingerbread, honeycomb, ice cream sandwich, jelly bean and offcourse latest KitKat. The company announced Android L developer preview at its I/O developer conference in June.  The 'L' is supposed to be a short form of Lollipop however, last month Android Lemon Meringue Pie was spotted in Chromium issue tracker. In the above image we can see the cake(pie) and lollipops so the 'L' can be for the former or the latter. It must be noted that Google has been tight lipped about the name of its next OS and it is not sure what will the company finally name it. Source| via

OPPO N3 will come with VOOC fast charging

0
0
Those that have used the OPPO Find 7 or the Find 7a will agree to the fact that VOOC aka fast charging is one of the best features on the device. It allows the user to charge the Find 7/7a from 0-75% in just 30 minutes, something that no other smartphone had been able to do before the Find 7 series. Probably encouraged by the rave reviews, OPPO will be shipping the upcoming N3 with the same VOOC fast charging. The device is pegged for a launch exactly one month from now, and as we've earlier said, it will come in a couple of different body options for the user to choose from. Coming back to VOOC, it is an OPPO-developed charging technique that allows a VOOC compatible hardware to push more charge in less time. i.e., increase the charging rate. There's also a safety mechanism in place that makes sure the hardware isn't damaged due to the excessive heat that can be generated in some cases. In all, the OPPO N3 is shaping up to be quite an interesting device. It'll be more relevant to multimedia buffs that don't mind carrying a large-screen phone to get the most out of the underlying ...

OnePlus Two will come in Q2 or Q3 of 2015

The OnePlus One has been one of the most talked about smartphones of this year. Coming from a company that calls itself a startup, it's no mean feat. It's only been about 5 months since the device came into existence, officially at least. However, talks about a successor are already rife; and this isn't mere speculation, but word from the folks at OnePlus. Whatever it be, you have to give one thing to OnePlus -- the company certainly knows how to stay in the news! The invite-only OnePlus One was recently announced to get an all-new pre-order system, that would kick off later next month. It was later clarified that although pre-orders would be accepted, the invite system was here to stay. In the Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything), the folks of OnePlus also hinted at making the OnePlus Two a smaller device. A lot of users (including me) prefer having a smartphone with a smaller footprint so that it's easy to carry around, which is not the case with the 5.5-inch OnePlus One. That's something we also mentioned about in the review we posted. So, what is your take on the OnePlus matter? With the company's sudden interest in expansion (into India and Malaysia), ...
