Indian smartphone manufacturers have improved their game significantly over the past few months. On the forefront alongside its contemporaries is Gionee that has been introducing some truly compelling hardware. We were quite pleasantly surprised by the Gionee Dream D1 that we reviewed some time back and were hence quite excited when the company passed us the Elife E3 to check out. What do we think about the handset ? Read on to find out more. Design The moment you set your eyes on the Elife E3, you know that the handset stands out from the crowd thanks to its svelte 7.9mm profile. The use of muted pastel shades instead of the drab black and white used by most too makes the handset appear attractive. The front of the phone is mostly dominated by the 4.7 inch 720p LCD IPS screen. Fairly large bezel space can be seen on the top and bottom but not so much on the sides of the handset which makes it quite comfortable to hold. A 2MP front facing camera is located above the IPS display to facilitate video calling. Below the screen lie three capacitive buttons as is the norm for Android running devices. The buttons correspond to back, ...

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 inch was just announced yesterday along with the Galaxy Tab 3 8 inch version. One of the main takeaways from the announcement is the presence of an Intel chip inside the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 inch version. Intel was particularly proud of the fact and boasted about its first low power LTE implementation for the same, in its blog. Sporting a Intel Z2560 "CloverTrail+" chip, the device has connectivity powered by the Intel XMM7160 multi mode LTE modem in some markets. Stepping up their efforts in the mobile space(finally), Intel has launched several SoCs specifically for the mobile market with faster processors, better battery life and overall suited for on-the-go computing. The dual core Atom processors in the CloverTrail+ platform are clocked at 1.6 GHz with HyperThreading enabled to make them look like quad core processors, at least logically. Chugging along for the graphics processing is the PowerVR SGX 544MP2 from Imagination technologies. Interesting to see Intel use PowerVR chips instead of their own solutions, which eventually will end up in future Bay Trail Atom chipsets set to start shipping in Q3 2013. Anyway, for more information on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 inch go ...

Lenovo has launched a total of six smartphones today, at an event in New Delhi, India. Amongst the six, the Lenovo A706 is a mid range model with modest specs and a equally modest price. With a 4.5 inch FWGA 854x480 display, the A706 might be lacking when directly compared with the 5 inch 720p displays in competing phones of the same price range, but it makes up for it in having an IPS display. The device is powered by a 1GHz quad core processor, and if our assumptions are true, it is a slightly underclocked version of the Snapdragon 200 MSM8225Q with Adreno 203 graphics. Priced at Rs. 15,949, this is Lenovo's play at the mid range. Here are the full specifications of the Lenovo A706 - 4.5 inch 854x480 IPS TFT display 10.4mm thick, 137g weight Snapdragon 200 MSM8225Q 1 GHz, Adreno 203 1 GB RAM, 4 GB ROM, Upto 32 GB Micro SD support Dual SIM Dual Standby 5 MP rear camera with single LED flash, VGA front facing camera Android 4.1 JellyBean 2000 mAH battery Overall well rounded specs for the A706 but will it make its mark in an extremely crowded mid range smartphone market? Lenovo today introduced its flagship smartphone, the Intel CloverTrail+ powered Lenovo K900, in India. Show off earlier at CES, the phone has a mammoth 5.5inch Full HD display that is covered by a Gorilla Glass 2 panel. Under the hood is a 2Ghz dual core Intel Atom Z2580 processor. During our brief time with the phone we felt that this processor was more than capable of keeping everything running smooth. The processor is also equipped with Hyper Threading that boosts performance when needed. The operating system of choice is Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Over at the back you can spot a 13MP camera with Sony's Exmor BSI sensor. A dual LED flash is located right next to the camera module. The camera should do well in low light thanks to the F1.8 lens. The front facing camera too has a 88 degree viewing angle and has a 2MP sensor which is sufficient for the occasional portrait shots. We were quite impressed by the brushed aluminum build of the handset and while it is too soon to pass judgement, we do feel that the handset is quite a compelling offering by Lenovo. The phone has been priced at Rs. 32,999 in India. ...

The HTC One mini, or whatever HTC wants to call it, has been eagerly awaited as the smaller One device which will serve the mid-high range market, for people seeking decently sized devices. Today, it has leaked out in full glory thanks to the folks at Forte, an Estonian portal. The pictures and specifications of the supposed successor to the One S were outed, which fit in with similar mid-high range specs and lower pricing. The design seems to be very similar, but with a plastic build rather than aluminium, at least from what we can notice in the leaked pictures. Either way, it seems to have high quality materials with a brushed finish on the front and a matte soft touch finish on the back. The One mini also comes with Beats Audio just like its bigger brother. The display seems to be similar to the one on the HTC 8X, and that means that the display will be stunning. Other leaked specifications include 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal memory and most ...

Nokia EOS, the company's first Nokia Lumia PureView Windows Phone with 41MP camera was rumored to debut at the MWC 2013, but it did not happen. Now new images of the phone has surfaced from two Chinese websites ilovewp.pixnet.net and Wpdang that reveals that the phone would sport a large lens cover. The top image is a concept and image below from Wpdang that shows alleged images of the phone with a large hole for the optics and Xenon flash. The camera hump would be visible easily. Casing of the phone leaked that reveals the front part that looks similar to the the Lumia 920. According to the rumors it would also come with the same polycarbonate material and would have tapered edges that makes the device look thinner. It would be 9.7 mm thick slightly thicker than the Lumia 925 that has an aluminium frame.   There are two dots on the bottom of the phone similar to the Lumia 925. It was February 2012, good year after the big announcement when Nokia bid a huge farewell to Symbian in the form of the Nokia 808 PureView launch at MWC. While it lost a legacy, the company actually solidified and stretched its R&D superiority in smartphone cameras. Building on the Lumia 920's anti-shake merits, Nokia plans to do a repeat of the earlier success, but now with its main strategic flagship OS, Windows Phone. That said, we had just witnessed a barrage of leaks regarding the successor to the Nokia 808, called the Nokia EOS(a codename) PureView, with its circular camera facade housing the purported 41 MP sensor. Unsurprisingly, more images have now leaked, that add more credibility to the earlier rumour. Lets discuss and speculate with the new leaked images then. First up, there are a total of three quality photos from a twitter user called Vizileaks. We have already pasted one above, which was the first one leaked and here are the other two - And there were more images leaked by the good folks at GSMArena - When there are multiple sources with same leaked images, we usually set aside our salt jar and start believing, and we are going to ...
