Chinese OEMs first started out as clone makers. Then came the Meizus and the OPPOs that transformed the market into one that's a lot more original. But, old habits, as they say, die hard. Doogee is among those Chinese makers that have risen to fame of late with quality offerings at hard-to-let-go prices. However, the company just launched the Doogee DG580, that's nothing but a... clone. What's interesting is the device that Doogee have chosen to clone - the OnePlus One! Specifications 5.5-inch 960 x 540p display 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582M CPU 1GB RAM 8GB on-board ROM 5 mega-pixel dual cameras 2500mAh battery Android v4.4.2 KitKat The most interesting part is yet to come. OnePlus thought they redefined the VFM quotient, but this sneaky clone goes for less than half the starting price of the OnePlus One at just $115! The million dollar question: would a clone such as this one take the place of the original thing, ever? Via

The Xiaomi Mi 2 was the device that really brought Xiaomi on the world map, with its high value proposition at the time of its launch. The device was later followed by the Xiaomi Mi 2S in 2013, one that I'm still using! According to a report by GizChina, both of the stalwart quad-core phones will soon be receiving the MIUI V6 update. Both, the Mi 2 and the Mi 2S, are currently based on MIUI V5. The report goes on to point out that the update would be made available to device users in 4 days from now, that is, on the 16th of August. As you would expect, the MIUI V6 update would come based off of Android v4.4.4. Xiaomi aren't the fastest with Android updates, but the company is well known for providing timely MIUI updates, which, if you aren't aware, is Xiaomi's take on vanilla Android. Besides Xiaomi phones, the MIUI ROM is officially available for more than 100 other phones, which should soon start seeing ports and builds of MIUI V6. Via
