Samsung isn't having the best week. First, local Indian manufacturer Micromax toppled the Korean giant to claim the number one spot in India. Next, China's Xiaomi (that's been making waves in India as well) replaced Samsung as the numero uno maker in China. The report by Canalys indicates that 4 year old Xiaomi owned 14 percent of the market share, while Samsung's share plummeted to 12 percent. This is the first time that Xiaomi has overtaken the consumer electronics giant from China. Xiaomi had yet been producing flagship level phones are attractive prices before launching their uber-popular Hongmi series of smartphones, which later came to be known as the Redmi series for international markets. Devices from the Redmi series of smartphones are sold at extremely competitive prices, often making them cheaper than even local brands. The Redmi series is expected to launch in India this month, with the Redmi 1S and the Redmi Note. While the Redmi 1S is a Snapdragon 400 powered Motorola Moto G competitor, the Redmi Note is more of a mix-and-match sort of a device with an octa-core processor, 5.5-inch display and a super lightweight price tag.

Instagram is taking a leaf from Twitter and introducing new features to it mobile apps on Android and iOS. The popular photo sharing service is adding trending hashtags and follow suggestions to enhance user experience. Similar to Twitter, Instagram will now show "Suggested" users to follow, depending upon your existing followers list. This essentially means that if you are following a celebrity or a brand on Instagram, the feature will suggest more such accounts for you to follow. Moving on, Instagram will also add trending hashtags that allows users to know what topics, people, events, places etc are currently trending in the world. Twitter was the first social network that started trending hashtags soon after which Facebook followed with the same feature under the Trending Topics section earlier in January this year. Hashtags are an important part of Instagram similar to Twitter as they initiate and enhance conversations on both the social networks. Hence, the trending hashtags feature will help Instagram increase user engagement on its mobile apps. Instagram made its Android app more responsive and faster in March with a UI revamp. Soon after, it updated the Explore tab to make its more personalized . In June Instagram added more power to ...

We already know a bunch of specs and details about the upcoming iPhone 6 launch. One of the information which is highly expected is that Apple will launch iPhone 6 in two models -5.5 inch and 4.7 inch model. Now, a fresh report from Cowen & Co. analyst Timothy Arcuri is suggesting that the Apple will add more powerful and faster processor to 5.5 inch iPhone 6 model than the 4.7 inch one. Arcuri also said that the processor in the 5.5-inch model could ship with a larger die, hinting at a more wide-ranging architectural split. A larger die might be a sign that the 5.5-inch model will feature additional on-die silicon, such as a larger array of graphics processing cores. Alternatively, it might suggest that Apple will make the two chips — believed to be the "A8" — in different fabrication plants using different processes. Apple has given different processors to devices in the same category in the past. For example, the iPad Air features a faster 1.39GHz A7 processor, while the iPad Mini with Retina display comes with a slightly less powerful version of the A7, which clocks in at 1.29GHz. Finally, Arucri also believes that both iPhone 6 models “could sport different touch modules” Apple is ...

The user @aleefbaypay saw a tweet about Buzzfeed which he does not follow but someone he follows does. Hence, he is seeing these tweets on his timeline. The micro-blogging site always experiments with new features. However, the latest one is unwelcomed similar to Promoted Tweets. Also, it kind of pollutes your timeline with unnecessary content that is not relevant to the user. It is not clear if and when will Twitter roll out the feature.
