Initially spotted online, the Xolo Q1000 has finally gone official, with a price tag of Rs. 14,999/- Powered by a Quad Core processor, the Xolo Q1000 has a 5 inch 1280x720 HD display, which seems to the be the benchmark of all the mid range phablet-like devices in the Indian market these days. The display is similar to the one on the Xolo A1000 launched earlier this year, and the 1.2 GHz Quad Core processor and GPU are similar to that of the Xolo Q800. Consistent with other recent Android phone releases from other brands, the Xolo Q1000 is also running on Android 4.2 Jellybean, with lockscreen widgets and notification toggles.

LG announced the white version of its popular Nexus 4 smartphone today and the phone is already available on Flipkart. The specifications of the handset remain identical to those on the black variant with the only difference being the color.
LG have opted to go for a two tone finish with a black bezel on the front and a white finish on the sides, back of the handset. Flipkart claims to have the handset available now for sale with an estimated delivery in 6 to 8 days. The phone is priced at Rs. 25,990.

Nokia's Asha Touch devices just got a new feature that inches them slightly towards the 'smart phone' category. The Finnish phone manufacturer has pushed out an application on the Ovi Store that will allow Asha Touch phones to sync data via Mail for Exchange.
The application will let the phones synchronize emails, calendar and contacts directly using Microsoft's Exchange ActiveSync protocol. The Ovi Store listing for the application suggests that it is compatible with the Asha 300,302,303, 308,309,310 & 311 phones. On the Asha 302 and 303, users will need to upgrade to firmware version 14.53 before using the application. Nokia has provided an in-depth guide for IT managers who want to set up Mail for Exchange for employees on Asha smartphones. End users can access this quick-start guide. We just got our hands on the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 and it is truly a mega phone with a massive 6.3 inch screen true to its name. The screen is a Super clear LCD with a 720p resolution and the phone is powered by a 1.7 GHZ Dual core Snapdragon processor with 1.5GB of RAM. There is 16GB of inbuilt memory and also a microSD card slot which can take upto a 64GB microSD. The phone runs on Android 4.2.2 which is the latest version of Android with Samsung's TouchWiz layer on top.

The first thing which impresses you when you look at the Mega 6.8 is the form factor of the device.
On the front is the massive screen which reminds you of Samsung's Televisions. Although we would loved to have z 1080p screen like on the S4, we can't complain much about a 720p screen on this Mega.Above the screen is the ear piece , the 1.9 MP front facing camera the various sensors. Below the screen you have the physical home button and the menu key and back key which are backlit.

Here is my first impressions of the just announced Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 which was announced yesterday in Chennai. We got some hands on time with the latest member of the Duos Dual SIM range from Samsung and the handset is also the smaller of the 2 Galaxy Mega devices announced. The phone is priced at Rs.25100 and packs a really large 5.8 inch display with a qHD resolution of 960x540 pixels. It also packs 2 microSIM card slots with a Smart Dual SIM feature. There is 8GB of inbuilt memory on board and also room for expansion using the microSD card slot which supports cards upto 64GB.

Yesterday, Samsung unveiled two new Galaxy devices at a launch event in Chennai. The Galaxy Mega 5.8 and the Galaxy Mega 6.3 are the two new entrants to the new Mega series of devices solely focused on big screened smartphone computing. Out of the two devices launched, which were set to be available in India real soon, we already have the Galaxy Mega 5.8 listed as available on Snapdeal, the online retailer for a price of Rs. 24,900 which is two hundred rupees lesser than the launch price of Rs. 25,100. Although it is currently listed as sold out, we think that the devices are already trickling down into the retail channels and you will be able to get the device sooner than what Samsung said, we feel. WeChat, the Instant messenger application from the grand orient, has its aim squarely at Whatsapp for ubiquity in platforms. In that direction, it has announced the availability of the IM app for Nokia's Asha range of devices. The IM app, which works fairly similar to Whatsapp in terms of functionality, is available for download over the Nokia Store.

Sony launched its Xperia Tablet Z at the Mobile World Congress and it recently went on pre-order for about Rs.44,990 at several online retailers in India, but now, at a launch event in New Delhi, Sony has finally launched it here, for a price of Rs. 46,990. Boasting a brilliant 10.1 inch 1920x1200 display, the tablet aims to be the big screened point of interaction for all of Sony's services like Music unlimited and Movies. We had went hands on with the device back in February at the MWC event and were left quite impressed. But with a steep price, will it find its way into people's hands? Only time will tell.

Tata Docomo, one of the many leading operators in India, has partnered with Opera, the browser company, for providing a customized co-branded Opera Mini browser for all of its users in India. Armed with server side data compression technology, which the company pioneered, it provides up to 90% compression and lets you browse with much lesser impact on your mobile data balance. The co-branded browser is available for download at m.opera.com on all the supported mobile devices. That means everything except Windows Phone, we guess.
The co-branded browser has some links based on Tata Docomo's landing page for the usual WAP site, and has necessary speed dial shortcuts too. This is in line with previous partnerships by Opera with Idea, Vodafone and Airtel in the previous years. Now, they have added Tata Docomo to the list of operators in India with a co-branded Opera Mini browser.
Interesting to see Opera still pursuing the market, but we guess it still sees potential in the still relevant feature phone market here, but this might apply for smartphone users too, who occasionally get locked in seriously lacking connectivity areas. Anyways, give it a go if you are a Tata Docomo user.

Samsung would unveil the Galaxy S4 mini at the Samsung Premier 2013 scheduled for June 20th, according to a recent report from The Wall Street Journal. This coincides with the rumors that surfaced back in March. The Galaxy S4 mini was confirmed from the official App Store listing recently. New ATIV Windows devices would also be unveiled at the Samsung event next month.
Detailed specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini (GT-I9195) has been revealed by a German website using AnTuTu benchmarking app. We already know that 4.3-inch (960 × 540 pixels) qHD Super AMOLED display, now the website reveals that the phone would use a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.7 GHz with Adreno 305 GPU. It would pack a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and a 2.1-megapixel Full HD front-facing camera. It would run on Android 4.2.2. Jelly Bean with Samsung’s own Nature UX similar to the Galaxy S4.
It would feature 1.5GB of RAM. No details about the battery capacity yet. Let's wait for few more weeks to find out more about the device at the event.

IDC, the analysis company that analyses several markets every quarter has released a report that Tablet shipments are all set to overtake total PC shipments in 2015. With a rapidly growing tablet market, IDC notes that the landscape is changing after the flood of low cost Android tablets with screen sizes less than 8 inches, which might contribute as much as 57% of the total tablet market in 2017, while the rest is constituted by bigger tablets, mostly the iPad. The iPad mini too might be a proven driver in the sales of small tablets.
However, the focal point of IDC's analysis is that people are going to buy more and more tablets, and they will be more than the number of PCs bought in 2015. Lava International has launched the E-Tab XTRON+, successor of the E-Tab XTRON that was launched back in February. It has a has a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) capactive multi-touch IPS display and is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor similar to its predecessor, but this runs on Android 4.2.2. At the D11 conference, Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside, confirmed that the smartphone manufacturer that has been keeping a low profile will be out with a new smartphone dubbed the Moto X later this year. Expected to be out by October, the phone is geared to have exceptional power management.
Woodside claims that this will be achieved by the use of dual processors though he did not clarify whether this meant the use of ARM's big.LITTLE architecture or a physically distinct low power mode chip. Motorola has also been working on the use of low power sensors and the results of that research will be seen in the Moto X which will be a contextually aware handset as claimed by Woodside.
Motorola plans to make the handset at 500,000 sq ft. facility in Texas that was previously occupied by Nokia. Woodside claimed that the company aims to assemble 70% of the handset in the US itself while the processor would be sourced from Taiwan. We reported last month that the Optimus G Pro would launch in India in June. Now, LG has officially announced that the phone would be released in Asian markets including India in June.
