LG unveiled the G Pro 2, the company's latest phablet back in February ahead of MWC 2014 and it started rolling out in Asia starting from last month. Now Manish Khatri from Mahesh Telecom reports that the G Pro 2 (LG D838) would be priced at Rs. 49,900 (MOP) in India and the MRP would be Rs. 51,500. Stocks are expected in a few days, so the official launch would not be far.

The recent trend among Chinese manufacturers of including a high resolution front camera seems to have caught up to Nokia and they are probably preparing their next smartphone with a more conscious effort for the front facing camera. Nokia has always been concentrating on the rear camera of its smartphone in the recent years and as we saw with the HTC One M8, popular brands are starting to weigh the importance of front facing camera.
The upcoming Lumia smartphone which is codenamed 'Superman' will reportedly come with a 5MP front camera. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy K zoom, the company's latest camera-centric smartphone with a 20.7-megapixel at an event in Singapore few hours back. We got some hands-on time with the camera phone. Even though it has 10x optical zoom like the S4 zoom, this has a new retracting lens technology to make the phone's body slim at 20.2 mm (16.6mm at its thinnest). It has the usual Samsung home button and the capacitive touch buttons.
The phone runs on the latest Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) with the new Touchwiz UI on the top. The 4.8-inch (1280x720 pixels) HD Super AMOLED screen is bright. It also has a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

Acer has just announced the Iconia One 7 (B1-730) at an event in New York. It was leaked recently and packs a 7-inch (1280 × 800 pixels) HD display, powered by a 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 with PowerVR SGX544 GPU and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS that is upgradeable to Android 4.4 (KitKat). . Google's Nexus line up of phones have be popular and successful for a long time now. But, as per reports the internet giant is gearing up to replace the Nexus brand to maintain the reign in Android ecosystem. According to a latest report from The Information, Google is planning to replace the current Nexus series with high end Android Silver phones.
The possibility of Android Silver program was first reported by Android Police earlier this month. With Android Silver, Google will aim to further expand its influence within the Android ecosystem. The new Silver program will reportedly see Google partner with device makers to produce high-end Android phones that will have a limited number of non-Google apps or allow users to uninstall them. The "Silver" line up of phones would supposedly be created to "closely adhere to Google specifications," with high-end hardware and Google working to ensure prompt software updates.

Twitter has announced that it has more than 255 million monthly active users of which 14 million were added in Q1. The micro blogging site recorded a mere 6% rise from the 241 million users reported in the fourth quarter and 25 percent year-on-year in terms of user base.
The company also stated that it had 198 million mobile monthly active users, an increase of 31% year-over-year, which represented 78 percent of its total monthly active user base. The number of timeline views rose 6% to 157 billion from the fourth quarter.
Twitter revealed a total revenue of $250 million in the first quarter of 2014, up 119% year over year. Advertising accounted for 90 percent of the revenue ($226 million), a line item jump of 125 percent year-over-year for the quarter. Mobile advertising revenue was approximately 80% of total advertising revenue.
“Revenue growth accelerated on a year over year basis fueled by increased engagement and user growth,” said CEO Dick Costolo in the earnings release. Samsung launched a new brand of cameraphone with the original Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom last year. Definitely things did not go as Samsung expected with the Galaxy S4 Zoom. Last year, Samsung just added a bulky camera unit to a mid-range smartphone and used the then flagship - Galaxy S4 moniker to sell it. But this year, Samsung seems to have actually added something to the device and taken the flagship branding away. The Galaxy K zoom has the same dotted patterns on the back, similar to the Galaxy S5. This offers better grip to the user. Since the K zoom has a curved design, it doesn't looks big like the S4 zoom. Today, Samsung announced the successor of the Galaxy S4 zoom as a new Samsung Galaxy K zoom. Samsung and Apple are still the leading smartphone vendors by shipments in Q1 2014, according to a report by Research Firm IDC (International Data Corporation). The worldwide smartphone market grew 28.6% year-over-year in the Q1 2014, with shipments of 281.5 million units in the quarter, down 2.8% compared to last quarter.
Samsung shipped 85 million smartphones in Q1 2014 and has 30.2% market share globally. Apple shipped 43.7 million units of iPhones in the same quarter, up 16.8% YoY. Both these companies lost some market share in the quarter to other competitors, compared to Q3 2013. The top five positions are the same compared to the previous quarter. Lenovo has the best YoY change with 63.3% increase in market share. It currently has 4.6% market share globally. Huawei has posted 47.3% YoY change and is placed just above Lenovo with 4.9% global market share.

Motorola definitely created a splash in the market when it launched it's surprisingly affordable yet capable Moto G. Now, the company is all set to announce its next device which is expected to "connect more people to the world's information and each other."
To be launched at an event in London on 13th May, the phone will undoubtedly be priced within reach of most people. What remains unclear though if it will be successor to the Moto G or an even lower priced device. There have been rumblings of a device that touches an even lower price point dubbed the Moto E. The other possibility is of a Moto G refresh which largely keeps the same hardware and design but adds LTE support.
Motorola's invitation for the event hints at the device being "made to last, priced for all" which makes us think that it might be a device specifically aimed at developing markets. This'll be Motorola's first device after the Lenovo acquisition and it would make sense to tap into the huge Chinese and Indian markets where the Moto G has already made its presence felt.
