The 210 mAh battery is the world's largest capacity battery in a wearable device and would offer significantly longer battery life compared to its rivals., says Samsung. The Samsung Gear Fit that was launched worldwide last week uses a similar curved battery that promises up to 5 times more battery life. Lee Kyung-sang, a company official said As the global market for smartbands is anticipated to expand sharply in the near future, Samsung SDI will continue to make efforts to become the No. 1 player in the smartband batteries market. There've been more than a few smartwatches that have hit the market over the past year or two but none have captured the imagination like the Pebble. The kickstarter success story is now amongst the highest selling smartwatches and it's growing application ecosystem is testimony to that. Popular music streaming service, Pandora, has now launched their official application for the Pebble smartwatch. Available for download via the Pebble app store built into the application itself, it will allow users to control all basic functionality that you'd expect. Mike Grishaver, VP of Pandora's Pandora app says that this is the first time that the music streaming service is officially available on a wearable. Users will be able to view, change stations as well as thumb up or down songs and skip, play, pause tracks. Unfortunately, the application is so far restricted to iOS devices but Pandora is working on an application for Android based Pebble users as well. The prospect of controlling our favorite music streaming site straight from the wrist is very endearing and we can't wait to test it out for ourselves. [Via - Pandora]

According to new statistics released by App Annie Index, Google's Play Store exceeded the iOS app store by 45% in total downloads but still lagged behind when it comes to actual revenues. Worldwide, it is clear that Android is dominating the market, with over 80% marketshare, which has led to a surge in downloads from emerging markets like Russia and Brazil, but the downside is that a large number of apps on Android are free or based on the freemium model, which drastically lowers the barrier of entry, keeping the target markets in mind, whereas Apple's iOS enjoys higher marketshare and install base in developed countries. This news might not surprise you, but head past the break for some more interesting analysis based on the data. Lets start with Android. As you can see from the table above, the one on the left is about the top 5 countries based on the number of downloads, while the one on the right is about the top 5 countries in terms of revenue. Earlier today, Google revealed its results for Q1 2014 and posted revenues of $15.42 billion. Earnings per share were reported at $6.27 and this was below the estimated $6.42 per share. The company missed analyst estimates of $15.52 billion in revenue and it can be attributed to Mountain View's recent stock split amongst other things. The stock split a few weeks back doubled the number of shares held by an individual and cut down value from $1060 to $530 per share. Additionally, the company has made very interesting moves over the past few months. The acquisition of Nest, renewed approach towards consumer oriented wearables like smartwatches come to mind. Fringe projects like the focus on modular phones too has captured the imagine. The company also sold off Motorola which was it's biggest acquisition so far. Advertising, media and applications however remain the main source of revenue for Mountain View. Google has managed to increase its revenue by 19% year on year and this is despite of increased R&D expenses. Research expenses went up $500 million to reach 12-14% of revenues.
