Sony has announced its new range of Android products as well as its flagship device ie the Xperia Z2 here at Mobile World Congress. The phone is more of an iterative update than a complete reimagining of the Xperia Z1 and so manages to maintain the same design identity. The design continues to be a combination of glass and brushed aluminum and looks absolutely stunning. That said, the tempered glass back is also extremely susceptible to fingerprints. Specifications We managed to shoot a quick hands on video in the few minutes with the device. You can check it out right below. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2zZktt4Iow The display is a 5.2 inch panel that has a resolution of 1920x1080. Alongside the small bump up in size, what we really like is how much the quality has been improved. The display is stunning, has vivid contrast levels and excellent viewing angles. Even the brightness levels are top notch making this one of the most beautiful smartphone displays we've seen lately. [gallery ids="97062,97060,97059"] Clocking in at 8.2mm thickness and 169 grams, the Sony Xperia Z2 is light enough to be carried around easily. The large size of the phone however makes it a bit of a letdown. We feel that Sony should ...

Nokia has just announced its first Android based smartphone - Nokia X at the Under The Tree event in Barcelona during MWC 2014. The Nokia X aims to be the perfect merger of the budget minded Asha UI and Nokia Lumia range design language. It will combine budget pricing, Lumia range design along with the goodness of Android app compatibility to create a whole new series of Nokia X budget smartphones. We were there at Nokia's press conference and then we had our chance to play with the devices on show. We managed to get a few photos of the Nokia X which you can check out right below. As you can see, the design language combines Asha's single home button with Lumia's unibody design. The front of the phone has just the display and the lone home button below it. The back of the phone too looks like a typical Lumia device with a horizontal Nokia branding below the camera. The right side of the device houses the power lock button and the volume rocker.  Over at the top, we have the 3.5mm audio jack slot.  At the bottom, we have the microUSB port. The Nokia X is available starting immediately and is priced at ...

Whatsapp was recently acquired by Facebook in a record USD19billion deal and looks like we are starting to have fruits of the deal already. Whatsapp had a small panel at the MWC 2014 and they spoke to TNW and according to them, Whatsapp is planning to add voice calls to their of features. Among the numerous instant messaging clients, Whatsapp is the clear leader with its simplicity and easy of use. However, it has lacked some features that its competitors have - Voice calls, stickers(not necessarily a feature) and other gimmicks. Whatsapp, now, has over 450 million users and around 320 million of them are active per month which is a huge number. According to stats, the total data of Whatsapp messages equal the total data of world SMS usage which is an incredible stat. The main reason for success of Whatsapp has been the simple way that it replaced the traditional text messaging. Now, when we hear Whatsapp is going to introduce voice calls, we really hope towards it. But free voice calls aren't something new and have been there for a long time. Popular applications like Skype, Viber, BBM, Line and others offer free voice calls. But when a messaging ...

Nokia's Android phones are here and they are real. They launched three new Android devices and a Asha and a Nokia feature phone each, with the Android phones being the obvious highlight. A few years ago, one would never have imagined Nokia going down this after, especially after February 11 happened, but here we are, going hands on with Nokia's own Android devices. Sort of a dream come true for many, we scrambled to try and get some decent time with all the devices and so here are our thoughts about the newly launched Nokia X+. For starters, here is a video of the Nokia X+ httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dNZGmuXA9c The X+ is undoubtedly a Nokia, with its Asha-like design and a sturdy plastic build. Of course it is really colourful too, as you can see from the flat sides in the photo above. It is really nice to hold in the hands and feels really grippy, reminding us of the Lumia 520. Talking of the Lumia 520, most of the specifications here are very similar, like a 4 inch WVGA screen, a dual core 1 GHz Snapdragon processor. Yes, it is the exact same as the Nokia X but there are a few differences ...

HTC’s announcements at the Mobile World Congress revolved around their Desire series of handsets. The two devices announced ie the Desire 816 and 610 vary wildly in their target audience but do emphasize the focus on quality that HTC has maintained despite aiming to reach ever lower price points. The upper end device of the two ie the Desire 816 is the most powerful phone in the Desire series of phones and opts for a design that closely mimics the flagship ie the HTC One. The Desire 816 has a polycarbonate finish with a glossy finish on the back that looks deceptively like the iPhone 5c. The sides of the phones however has a matte finish which feels great in the hand.   Amongst the two device that HTC announced today, the 816 clearly stole the show. However, the 610 is no slouch either. The HTC Desire 610 is the lower end of the two devices announced and is aimed at the volume segment. Here's our hands on report with the 610, let us know what you think about it in the comments section. Despite being a budget device, HTC has managed to make the 610 a very solid device with quality construction and materials that are above average. The phone has a design that is right in line with the language HTC has adopted for the One. The construction is however predominently plastic. While not as good as the materials used for the 816, the phone does feel quite solid. Video Hands On httpv://youtu.be/uG8URzl-b68 The phone is running on the latest release of Android ie KitKat with HTC's Sense UI layer running on top. Users will also get features like BlinkFeed and video highlights. Unfortunately Zoe will not make the cut here. Our initial impressions about the performance of the phone were quite positive as the phone seemed to fly through menus and apps. The real test however is extended usage which we'll only be able ...
