WhatsApp for Android now has new privacy features in the settings, that lets you restrict access to your last seen time, profile photo and status. You can restrict the access to all these separately from the privacy settings inside your account settings. This feature is already available for iPhone users. You don't have control over your Online status. Everyone who has your phone number in their contacts list can see that you're online when you open WhatsApp unless that person has been blocked by you. That status will disappear a minute after you close the app. If you swipe out the app from the recent apps menu, it will go away immediately, says a Reddit user. Even though updated version on Google is version 2.11.152, you can download the new v2.11.169 from the WhatsApp website. The new version might be still in beta, and we can expect it to roll out to users through Google Play soon. Via

Google will launch Android 4.5 and the Nexus 8 tablet in July, according to a report from Android Geeks. Yesterday, Android and Chrome's chief Sundar Pichai said Google will host the I/O 2014 on June 25th and 26th, 2014. Google will only focus on new services at the I/O 2014, according to source, allegedly from Google's Dublin office. Google will not make any 7-inch tablets and focus only on 8-inch tablets, claims the report. As usual, the Android 4.5 will also arrive on the same day of the Nexus 8 launch. We don't have any other details about the tablet. A recent report from DigiTimes claims that Google will release a 8-inch tablet in April with initial shipments of 2 million units, according Taiwan-based supply chain. Google would once again choose Asus to manufacture the tablet, instead of LG, revealed the DigiTimes report. The latest LG G Pad 8.3 has a 8.3-inch screen and also has a Google Play Edition. It wasn't too long ago that Samsung announced its first generation Galaxy Gear smartwatch. Aimed at competing with the likes of Pebble and anticipated competition from Apple, the original Galaxy Gear was a relative failure because of its high price point, poor battery life and limited compatibility. Fast forward five months and Samsung is all set to show off its next gen Gear 2 smartwatch that eschews Android for the Korean company's homegrown Tizen OS. The new smartwatch will retail in two variants ie the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo. The Galaxy branding has been dropped because of the transition from Android to Tizen. Specifications of the watch remain largely the same and include a 1GHz dual core processor, 4GB storage, 512MB RAM and a 1.63 inch (320 x 320 pixels) Super AMOLED touch screen. If you're thinking that the phone in the photo above is a HTC device then you are probably wrong. According to the source, it is actually a device made by Huawei. Along with the lookalike, we also see another device which seems to be a smartwatch. Wearable technology is the next big thing and perhaps Huawei wants to join in on the party before its too late. We're not too sure about the features yet but from the photo we can understand that it will be able to make/take calls. Like you all, even we can't help but notice how similar it looks to the HTC One. It looks like it's larger and slimmer version of the device but seems to lack the curved back design that was popular with the original. Event the front facing cameras and sensor have been designed differently. We could expect the devices to get announced during MWC 2014 in Barcelona, Spain which kicks off from 24th February. We will be covering the event and will make sure that we keep you updated on more information and possible photos and videos of the devices from the showfloor. Source

Get ready for Dual SIM Windows Phones people ! At Mobile World Congress 2014 here in Barcelona, Microsoft announced that it is adding support for Dual-SIM functionality in Windows Phone with an upcoming update. This is heavily requested feature amongst users especially in India and China.Dual SIM smartphones are extremely popular in India and that is one of the main reasons that Windows Phone has failed to catch up with the ever expanding Android smartphone market. With support for Dual SIM cards, Microsoft can now compete with Google in the mid-range dual SIM smartphone market. One example of a hugely successful Dual SIM device is the Motorola MotoG which went on sale in India recently. Previously, there were rumors about a Nokia dual SIM mid-range Windows Phone - Nokia MoneyPenny and there is no word of it yet, but from the leaked screenshot of the device, we came to know about the dual SIM support in Windows Phone. Along with the Dual SIM support, Microsoft promises a "total user control" over the dual SIM experience in the upcoming dualSIM smartphones. Microsoft partners with 9 more manufacturers for more Windows Phones

$

One of the main reasons that Windows Phones haven't sold as much as Android smartphones is because of the lack of manufacturers. At launch, Microsoft had only a handful of manufacturers and as Windows Phone grew, the number of manufacturers shrunk and at one point, Microsoft bought out Nokia, which was probably the only company making Windows Phones.   After Satya Nadella took over, looks like Microsoft are serious about their smartphone OS - Windows Phone and at MWC 2014, they have announced that they are tying up with 9 more manufacturers to expand the reach of Windows Phone. The list of manufacturers are as follows Lenovo LG ZTE Xolo Karbonn Gionee JSR Longcheer Foxconn As you can see from the above list, Microsoft is trying to get into the mid-range smartphone segment more aggressively. Lenovo is currently one of the leading smartphone makers and a leading PC maker, a tie up with Lenovo is probably the best thing for Microsoft in the above tie ups. The list also includes three names from the Indian mid-range Android manufactures - Karbonn, Xolo and Gionee. It is surprising that Micromax has been left out, but we can surely say that we can expect more Windows Phone in 2014 thanks to the new partnerships. If you din't ...

The app is expected to go live in a few weeks. Even though Facebook would acquire WhatsApp, it said both the Facebook Messenger and the WhatsApp would not merge. Both the Facebook Messenger apps for Android and iOS got an updated with new design and new stickers. Hope the Windows Phone app would also have these features. We now over 240,000 apps, with an average of 500 apps added each day, said Microsoft. The platform got Instagram, Vine, Waze and Mint apps recently, and the Facebook Messenger will be available in the coming weeks, it said. We don't have any specific launch date for the app yet. We will let you know if we get more info regarding the app.
