Samsung had kicked off 2014 in style by showcasing the new range of Galaxy Note and Tab Pro tablet series at the CES 2014 in Las Vegas. Today, at the Samsung Southwest Asia Forum 2014, they have announced a couple of additions to their tablet lineup. The tablets that are announced in India are the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Neo and Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Neo is a typical mid-range budget tablet that packs entry level tablet specifications into a Samsung packaged tablet. It also has a 3G variant. It went official at the end of last month and packs a 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED screen, powered by a 1.6 GHz quad-core or a Hexa-Core processor (1.7 GHz Dual Core Cortex A15+ 1.3 GHz Quad Core Cortex A7) and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). At CES 2014, Samsung unveiled a lot of Galaxy Note 3 look alike tablets that were huge and had displays as big as 12.2 inches and today they are launching the same in India. The Samsung Galaxy NotePRO is the biggest of the Samsung android tablets and comes with Samsung's S-Pen functionality.
Samsung Galaxy NotePRO looks very much like the 12.2 inch version of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with a very similar spec sheet and a similar design language. The only difference is the huge display and its high resolution of 2560x1600 pixels. The specifications of the tablet are as follows

Samsung has launched the Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo (GT-I9060) in India officially, at the Samsung Forum 2014 in Bali. It went on sale earlier this week and packs a 5-inch (800 x 480 pixels) display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS. It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera.

Samsung has just launched the Galaxy Tab 3 Neo, the company's latest tablet at the Samsung Forum 2014 priced at Rs. 16,490. It was announced as the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite last month and packs a 7-inch (1024×600) TFT LCD display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) with Samsung’s own TouchWiz UI on top. It comes in 3G and WiFi variants, similar to the Tab 3.
It has a 2-megapixel rear camera. It is 9.7mm thick and weighs 310g.
The back cover has rubberized feel, that also gives you enough grip to hold the tablet. It comes in Black White, Pink and Lime Green colors. It packs 1GB of RAM, comes with 8GB internal storage and expandable microSD card slot. The connectivity features include, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. We have less than a week for one of the most anticipated events of the mobile world - MWC 2014 and ZTE, one of the many Chinese manufacturers has revealed its plans for the MWC 2014. According to ZTE, they will be launching the successor of the original Grand Memo smartphone and they will also be launching their Firefox device - ZTE Open C.
In addition to launching a couple of new devices, they have also mentioned that they will be showing off the next version of their custom UI over Android. The next genration of ZTE II will be called ZTE MiFavor 2.3 an will debut on the ZTE Grand Memo II. The Grand Memo II smartphone will be a 6inch device that is expected to be very slim and will come with LTE support. Details regarding the devices and the software suite are still not known and ZTE is waiting to break them up at the MWC.

Samsung has unveiled a range of LED component solutions, that include two reflector-integrated flash LED packages (3432 1.8t (FH341A) and 3432 1.4t (FH341B) ), a flip-chip flash LED 2016 (FH201A), as well as two side-view LEDs (the 3810 0.6t (MS062F) and 3810 0.8t (MS082F)) for smartphones and tablets.
Reflector-integrated flash LED for high-end mobile devices are designed to enable a great deal of flexibility by providing a wide FOV (Field of View) angle within a small space. These new modules deliver over 165 lux at 1A and a minimum CRI (Color Rendering Index) of 80 for the best image quality in daylight and at night. The 3432 1.8t will be used in the Galaxy S5, that would be launched at the MWC next week.
The 3432 1.4t (FH341B) extra-slim LED solution includes a reflector and is only 1.4mm thick, for smartphones and tablets thinner than 7mm. This offers illuminance level of 165 lux. The standard flash LED 2016 (FH201A) offers 220lm of light output and improves color deviation by approximately 40% also offers a high level of color quality.

Acer usually unveils new smartphones at the MWC every year. The company has started teasing their upcoming Liquid smartphone, just in time for the MWC 2014. The first image shows the camera module, LED flash and a secondary microphone on the back of the phone. You also have a something like a fingerprint sensor below the camera module.
You can also see two slots on the right side of the phone, which hints that the phone might come with dual SIM support. You have the 3.5mm audio jack and a power button on the top.
Another images shows the bottom part of a smartphone that has a micro USB slot. The caption says, "The perfect fit for your hand and pocket revealed in 3 days." We still don't have the specifications of this Liquid smartphone yet. Acer unveiled the Liquid Z5, successor of the Liquid Z3 last month.
The Acer Liquid S2 with 6-inch 1080p display and a Snapdragon 800 processor was unveiled back in September at the IFA 2013. We have three more days to go, so we can expect more images before the smartphone is revealed completely.

Samsung is, off late, adding a "Neo" to its already existing products and with the addition of the tag, it suggests that they are meant for the mid-range and entry range buyers. Earlier today Samsung launched the Galaxy NotePRO, the company’s latest tablet with a huge 12.2-inch screen in India at a price tag of Rs. 64,900. We got some hands-on time with the tablet at the Samsung Forum 2014 in Bali, where is launched. It comes with a S Pen stylus that docks on the back of the tablet and has a Wacom Digitizer for pressure sensitive input, just like the previous Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet. It has a 12.2-inch (2560×1600 pixels) WQXGA display, powered by a Octa-Core Exynos 5 processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with Samsung’s own Touch Wiz UI on top.
It has the same leather-like finish on the back, similar to the Galaxy Note 3. It packs an 8-megapixel camera on the back with LED flash. It comes with 3GB RAM, 32GB or 64GB internal storage, microSD slot that accepts cards up to 64GB.

HTC Desire 8, the company's upcoming mid-range desire smartphone leaked last week along with specifications. As you can see from the official image with the invite, HTC has confirmed on Weibo that it would be officially unveiled on February 24th in China. According to the rumors, the phone would come in single SIM and dual SIM variants. The single SIM CDMA/LTE variant would head to Sprint USA, TD-LTE variant would head to Chinese markets and the global 3G variant with dual SIM (WCDMA and GSM) support would be available for global markets such as Europe, Africa and Asia.
Intel is the company everybody knew because of processors that still power the everyday PCs and laptops. But the sales of PCs and laptops has been outdone by the sales of smartphones and tablets. People are moving on and portable devices are the new thing. Intel has been producing chips for the smartphones and tablets, but it hasn't earned much of a consideration from the manufacturers who seem to be more than content with ARM based SoCs. Intel has to fight hard to survive this battle and looks like they are having another go at the smartphone and tablet market in the upcoming MWC 2014.
At MWC 2014, a lot of smartphone manufacturers are expected to showcase their new products and Intel will be present there showing off its new series of tablet and smartphone SoC trying to lure the manufacturers to produce handsets with their SoCs. The 6-inch screen at a resolution of 1280 by 720 at 245 ppi pixel density is decent. It is based on One-Glass-Solution (OGS), so the viewing angles are good. This display is bright and the colors are vibrant, but the sunlight legibility is just average. The screen is reflective and is prone to fingerprints. Samsung has finally announced the list of devices that would receive the Android 4.4 (KitKat) update, but this list is only for the U.S. variants. Samsung started rolling out the KitKat update for the Galaxy Note 3 last month. The Indian Exynos variant of the Note 3 got the KitKat update by the end of January. It is yet to roll out the KitKat update for other devices.
The Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) software update would bring easy-to-use features that enhance the user experience, including a more intuitive user interface, enhanced messaging capabilities and updated applications, said Samsung. The update would also bring.
