The dual SIM Motorola Moto G has taken over India ever since it was officially launched here. It was sold out in less than an hour, and a lot of buyers were left frustrated with delays, but it still has quickly become the most popular mid range phone in the market. We had ordered the 16 GB Moto G immediately after the Flipkart pages went up, and got it delivered soon. So, here's our unboxing of the device, with a small twist. You must have known that we have the Google Glass with us, so we took it for a POV spin in the Moto G Unboxing, you can watch the video here - httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsJTuhUac04 Unlike the UK version we unboxed earlier, the Indian variant of the Moto G does come with a charger and headset, but no signs of a separate micro USB cable for data transfer here. Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 to be priced reasonably

Samsung launched their first smart watch - Samsung Galaxy Gear back in IFA 2013 alongside their current flagship - Galaxy Note 3. A couple of weeks remain for MWC 2014 and there are clear indications that Samsung will unveil their next generation Galaxy S series flagship - Galaxy S5 at MWC 2014. Apart from the obvious fact, Samsung is also rumored to be launching their next version of smart watch - Galaxy Gear 2 at MWC 2014. According to ZDNet Korea, Samsung is considering a price point lower than that of the original Galaxy Gear. Since launch, Samsung's Galaxy Gear hasn't really picked up as Samsung would have expected and despite their announcement that Samsung had shipped 800,000 Galaxy Gear smart watches, Galaxy Gear isn't really a device that you get to see everyday. The 800,000 number was shipped to retailers and not all of them were sold, so it is safe to assume that - Galaxy Gear is a product still under construction. One of the main reasons for the commercial failure of Samsung's Galaxy Gear was its pricing. It was priced at Rs. 22,990 at launch in India and one could get a nice smartphone for that price. However, some ...

Motorola Moto G Shell: Lime Yellow, in pictures and video

Having just unboxed the Motorola Moto G, the Indian retail version that supports two SIMs, we also got to try the new Moto G shells. We had ordered them separately from Flipkart, the normal coloured replacement shell for the back and the Flip shell that protects the back AND the front. But first, lets talk about the normal shell. We have got a bright lime yellow shell that looks dashing on the otherwise boring black Moto G we bought. Check how it looks, on video, skip past it for pictures and thoughts - httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezJqz-YtU_A Our Moto G Review The Moto G has a tight back cover, so it's pretty hard to pry it open. But once we were done with the replacement, the Moto G looked way better than ever. It looks pretty rad with the two tone black-green look on the sides. One more view of the sides - Taking a closer look at the build quality of the case, we found it to be very similar to the original back case. Coming at Rs. 899/- it is a bit expensive, but we feel it is worth investing, as there will always be a back up cover in case the phone gets old, or ...

Nokia’s Android phone will reportedly be revealed at MWC 2014

Rumoured to be a successor to the Asha series of devices, Nokia is apparently preparing to launch its Android-based low cost devices at the Mobile World Congress event this year, according to the Wall Street Journal. The phone had repeatedly leaked out, with images of hardware and images of software, which point to a phone with a Windows Phone-like UI and Android underneath, enabling it to run Android apps. The "forked" Android OS, developed by Nokia, will feature Microsoft's services prominently, not Google services or Play, which means that there will still be a distinct lack of Google apps on the platform. Previously brushed off as a improbable launch, especially after the Microsoft acquisition, it seems like the Nokia X aka Normandy will possibly be making a N9-style debut at MWC this year. These are the supposed specifications of the Nokia Android phone - 1 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor 4inch WVGA display 512MB RAM 4GB internal storage microSD card slot 5MP camera 1500mAh battery dualSIM connectivity 6 Color variants Nokia Store + Third party apps You can see that they resemble the Lumia 520 closely, which was a worldwide hit last year. But of course, this is set to replace the high end Asha, which is now based on a archaic Java ...

Motorola Moto G Flip Shell in White – Pictures and Video

The Moto G Flip Shell is Motorola's take on the flip cover that is oh-so-popular in the Indian market. After unboxing the Indian retail version of the dual SIM Moto G, we took the normal shell for a spin and also tried out the new Flip Shell. The white flip shell we bought has a really cool texture on its back and even has magnets to close the front cover, which will offer protection. We found it to be of really high quality, so take a look at how it fits on the Moto G in this video - httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0MHLx6NXlQ The Moto G Flip shell is made of a really hard plastic material with a nice Moto X-like texture. it makes the grip so much better and the overall quality is definitely up a notch. The flip shell replaces the back, just like the normal shell, but offers a really thick covers for the front. The front cover has magnets that stick to the device nicely, and even facilitate the lock/unlock option. The hard front cover might be good for protection but it does increase the bulk of the phone slightly, which is a good compromise we think. Also, the black and white two-tone ...

TSMC switching to 8 inch processing for TouchID sensors

0
0
TSMC or the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company is responsible for manufacturing Touch ID sensors for the Apple iPhone. Apple had previously contracted TSMC to produce fingerprint sensors at their 12 inch processing facility using a 65nm process. Due to risks associated with the 12 inch Wafer Level Packaging (WLP) process, the production yield has so far been limited to between 70-80%. This is set to change.  A report published by DigiTimes claims that Apple has now chosen TSMC's 8 inch processing facility. This fab will allow mature yield rates for fingerprint sensors for the next generation iPhone. Yield rates for the 8inch WLP is expected to cross 95% which is significantly higher compared to the 12 inch facility. TSMC will outsource the packaging process to back end houses. The company has identified Xintec and China WLCSP to be subcontracted as backend partners. The consumer facing benefit of this change will be increased availability of the next generation iPhone. Supply for the iPhone 5s remained limited around the holiday season due to supply constraints for TouchID sensors. A 15-20% increase in fingerprint sensor yields should help mitigate this for future models. [Via - DigiTimes]

Windows Phone 8.1 might be unveiled to the public only in April at the Build developer event, but some enterprising developers have already been able to get a preview of the SDK, as reported earlier by TheVerge. We had expected more information to pop up once it became available, and thanks to a redditor, who claims to be a high-profile WP app developer(there is proof), some details of the next big update to Microsoft's mobile platform have leaked. While most of the details are developer-oriented, some of the long standing consumer complaints seem to have been resolved, like the support for installation of apps on the SD card, VPN support and the start of universal apps for Windows Store and Windows Phone Store. "So I may or may not be part of the dev preview program" says the developer who posted this information. These are the most important leaks at this point in time (taken directly from the source) - Universal apps is a template to build both WinStore and WinPhone apps from the same solution sharing code more easily (HTML/JScript) Battery sense (see what apps are taking the charge), data sense and storage sense. Nokia Lumia 1320 Review

0
0
Back in October at it's Nokia World event, the Finnish smartphone manufacturer showed off two devices that were meant to capitalize on the trend favoring larger screen sizes. Packed with 6 inch panels and some special Nokia bits baked into Windows Phone 8, the two devices were intriguing to say the least. Fast forward to today and we've spent some quality time with both the phones. A few days back we brought you our review of the Nokia Lumia 1520 and here's our take on the Lumia 1320. Hardware There's a basic design identity that is very evident across the entire line of devices that form Nokia's Lumia series. Yes, it is getting long in the tooth and isn't as exciting as it once was. We however maintain that the design does stand out compared to most of the competition and the quality of materials remains top notch. As with other Nokia Lumia devices, the front has a gigantic 6 inch display with relatively small bezels. Below the screen are the three capacitive buttons. Over on the right side you get three buttons that correspond to the volume rocker, power key and the camera button. All three provide very good feedback and are ...
