Check out the video below. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bShZiXOQwJk Since the phone has a Curved Plastic OLED display from LG Display, the display is vertically concave from top to bottom with a radius of 700 mm. It also has a curved 3500 mAh battery, made by stacked process developed by LG Chem, which makes the device flexible. Even though device is curved, you can easily bend it, without any problem. We had also tested the flexibility of the device in the video. We will bring you the complete review of the LG G Flex later this week, in the mean time check out more videos of the device on our YouTube channel.

With MWC just around the corner, it is highly possible that various products that are scheduled to make an appearance during the show are leaked prior to the show. That could be the case for Huawei's Ascend P7 and MediaPad X1. Huawei announced their flagship Huawei Ascend P6 sometime in June, but the device had failed to make a name for itself or the company. The MediaPad X1 tablet is expected to have a 7inch display in a body smaller than the Google Nexus 7 2013 and it will have the same 1920x1200 high resolution display. It is expected to be powered by the ...

Motorola launched the most expected Moto G in India earlier this week, in partnership with Flipkart starting at Rs. 12,499. Due to huge demand, the 16GB variant sold out in less than hour. We reviewed the single SIM UK variant back in December, which came in a small box with just a microUSB cable, a getting started guide and regulatory information.Unlike the other markets likethe US and UK, the dual SIM variant of the Moto G (XT-1033) in India ships with a wired head set and a charger (5 volts, 500mA), along with the phone and manuals, as you can see on the box below. The 16GB version of the Dual SIM Moto G is priced at an MRP of Rs. 14,499 and the MOP of the device is Rs. 13,999. Compared to the unlocked single SIM 16GB US variant that costs US$ 199 (Rs. 12,400 approx), the dual SIM Indian variant with a charger and headset, including taxes is a great deal at Rs. 14k. Even if you import it from other countries, it would be costly since you have to pay the import duty and shipping charges. Check back later for the unboxing of the Indian retail unit of the ...

Reports suggest that the feature will be available across the range and will not just be restricted to higher end models. Samsung has entered into a similar partnership with Hyundai and BMW as well with Tata Motors being its first partner in India. Tata and Samsung have been working together on this for the past six months. Flipkart and Motorola reportedly trying to ensure Moto G supply under heavy demand

The Motorola Moto G had landed in India after a lot of anticipation. Moto made a splash with a brilliant pricing strategy, but for a company that is re-entering a long forgotten market, distribution has so far been a nightmare. With an exclusive arrangement with Flipkart, one of the leading e-retailers in India, Motorola set out to serve the Indian market by providing 8 GB and 16 GB versions of the Moto G through a single channel. The device would not be available in stores or any other e-retailer, so it created a mad rush which Motorola or Flipkart could and should have expected. With orders opening at 12:00 on the 6th of February, both the models sold out in less than an hour, leaving many prospective buyers frustrated. Some woke up the next day to still find it "Out of stock" for both the variants, with Flipkart and Motorola frantically adding supplies to meet demand. Stocks were made available at 12:00 p.m on the same day and some of the buyers were able to buy it, but the 16 GB version still went out of stock in an hour, leaving only the 8 GB version in stock. But it got ...

A few years ago, LG was not relevant in the smartphone conversation. The optimus range was uninspiring and the flagships like 2x and 4x were duds, but all changed when the company released the Nexus 4, with Google. HTC and Nokia enter patent, technology licensing agreement

Last year an ITC Judge ruled that HTC infringed on two essential patents owned by Nokia. The patents covered ways to remove error from signals as well as a process to deal with different radio frequencies. Today, Nokia announced that the two companies have entered into a patent and technology licensing agreement wherein the Taiwanese company will pay royalties to Nokia to end the dispute.  "Nokia has one of the most preeminent patent portfolios in the industry," said Grace Lei, General Counsel of HTC. "As an industry pioneer in smartphones with a strong patent portfolio, HTC is pleased to come to this agreement, which will enable us to stay focused on innovation for consumers." The financial terms of the settlement remain under the wraps but HTC will be licensing this technology and will also work together on future collaboration opportunities. As Nokia moves towards completing the sale of its Device & Services division to Microsoft, Patents will become an integral focus of what'll remain of the company. While reinforcing its position in the mapping vertical through its HERE Maps division, Nokia also plans to enforce its strong technology patents portfolio that broadly covers the telecom industry. Nokia will also have a separate division ...

Notification Center for Windows Phone 8.1 spotted in fresh leak

0
0
A new leak doing the rounds today is giving us a first glimpse of what is expected to be the notification center in Windows Phone 8.1 . Obtained from a confidential slide deck sent internally at Microsoft, the notification center will be dubbed 'Action Center' but will pack all the functionality that we've come to expect from such a feature. As is evident from the image, it'll be possible for users to have quick access to toggles for WiFi, Bluetooth, Airplane Mode and Driving Mode. It will be possible to customize these according to user requirements through a shortcut and a Clear All notifications option is also visible. All notifications will show up beneath these toggles. It is expected that notifications will be actionable like on competing platforms. An interesting differentiator will be how apps can intelligently manage notifications. This includes silently adding, updating and delaying alerts according to the relevance and importance of the notifications. It will be possible for  developers to ensure that alerts for games only show up in the notification center and skip Toast notifications. Windows Phone 8.1 will most likely be shown off at Microsoft's BUILD conference in April with a developer preview being available around the ...

PlasticLogic debuts flexible AMOLED display

0
0
Remember PlasticLogic? The company was all set to debut its QUE proReader back in 2010 with an ultrafast (by e-ink standards) refresh rate and a legitimitely usable touchscreen experience. However the product was canned due to changing market scenarios. The company has since then been working on flexible display technology. At Flextech 2014, it announced its new flexible AMOLED screen technology. In its first incarnation, the display can show only red colors instead of the complete RGB (Red, Green, Blue) spectrum that is expected for a production display. That said, the screen is a very early prototype and retail products based on it are expected in late 2015. PlasticLogic is working closely with NovaLED which specializes in organic LED related technologies. NovaLED is contributing towards the user/viewer end of the display while PlasticLogic works on the backplane that makes it flexible. Flexible displays aim to be the next big thing in technology and while they are little more than a showcase, our experience with the LG G Flex has been promising. Wearables would particularly benefit from flexible displays. Smartphones too can reduce the physical dimensions while including a larger panel. Suffice it to say that the next few years will be very ...

HTC M8 Mini to go light on specs, include 720p 4.5″ screen, 1.4 Ghz Snapdragon 400 processor

0

The Moto G and Xperia Z 1 compact are the two benchmark devices for 'mini' phones across price segments. While the Moto G aims to give you an extremely value for money experience, the Z1 compact goes the other way around by stuffing top of the line specifications in a tiny shell. The likes of HTC on the have have typically aimed at creating a device that might have a passing resemblance to their higher end models but pack much lower specifications. If the latest leak is to be believed, this will continue to be true. HTC M8 mini (mem_ul): SD400 (1.4GHz x4), 4.5", 720p, 1GB/16GB (+microSD), 13MP/5MP, a/b/g/n/ac, BT4.0, KK4.4.2, Sense6.0, buttons on screen. — @evleaks (@evleaks) February 8, 2014 Evleaks has provided us a glance at what are expected to be the specifications of the HTC M8 Mini. This device will accompany the higher end HTC M8. Specifications include a 1.4 Ghz Quad Core Snapdragon 400 processor which has recently been seen powering the Moto G. Paired with this will be 1GB of RAM which does seem a bit low. A 4.5 inch 720p display is what'll be placed up front. Running Android 4.4 KitKat, expect to see Sense 6.0 on ...

HTC would launch more number of cheaper mid-range smartphone this year, according to a recent report from Reuters. The company's mid-range smartphone are very less in number, and are also costly, compared to mid-range smartphones from its other competitor. HTC believes that introducing more number of mid-range smartphones along with high-end ones would increase their profit. Speaking to Reuters, HTC co-founder and chairperson Cher Wang, said HTC will sell products in the $150 to $300 retail price range for both emerging and developed markets, along with high-end phones which can sell for over $600. HTC won't get into the "very, very low-end market" HTC Desire 310, a mid-range smartphone powered by a quad-core MediaTek appeared on the official website last month, but it was removed immediately. Looks like HTC would use also be using MediaTek chips on their mid-range smartphones to cut the cost. They don't plan to enter very low-end market. HTC was not in last year's top 5 smartphone vendors list for shipping most number of smartphones, according to IDC. Unaudited Q4 2013 results showed US$ 1.43 billion of revenue with operating losses of US$ 52 million USD in the quarter. Hope the upcoming HTC smartphones starting at $150 ( Less than ...

The very infamous Flappy Bird was introduced to smartphones and tablets back in 2013, but it gained widespread popularity only in the past couple of weeks. Ever since, almost everybody was complaining about the game saying that it was tough to play. A lot of raging tweets and posts filled social media. All these voices seemed to have reached the developer Dong Nguyen as he tweeted over the weekend saying that the game would be taken down within 22 hours. The reason for taking down the game are unknown and the game was reported to be fetching $50,000 a day through Ad revenue. The game was available in Android and iOS initially and once the popularity went through the roof, the developer said that a Windows Phone version of the game will be available within ten days. As said, he released the game in Windows Phone store and it is available even now(the only app store where you can get Flappy Bird). As you can see from the tweets, there is no disclosed reason for taking down the game except for - " I cannot take this anymore " and the developer had also mentioned that there were no legal issues and that ...

HTC reports Q4 2013 financial results, revenue drops to NT$42.9 billion

0
0
HTC just published its financial reports for the third quarter of 2014 and has unfortunately reported yet another decline in sales. The company reported revenues of NT$42.9 billion. This is a substantial year on year drop from the NT$60 billion reported in Q4 2012. The 28% drop amounts to a drop of about USD 0.6 billion YoY in terms of revenue. HTC's operating margin was reported as -3.7 percent with a quarterly profit of NT $0.31 billion. HTC has forecast even lower revenue for Q1 2014. The company expects to make about NT$35 billion in the first quarter of 2014. This can be accounted to the lack of new launches especially in the upper end segment. We reported earlier that HTC plans to make a broader push towards strengthening their lower and mid range product portfolio. CEO Peter Chou, echoed similar thoughts at the earnings call and reiterated a priority for the company that they need to communicate better with consumers. HTC is expected to launch its next flagship product ie the M8 at MWC later this month. As is the popular trend, a mini version of the phone is also believed to be in the offing with cut down specifications and ...
