Samsung just reported its Q4 earnings for 2013, in which the company has managed to make operating profit of 8.31 trillion won ($7.73 billion) for the quarter ended December 31st. It has reported net profit of 7.30 trillion won (~US$$6.8 billion) and revenues of 59.28 trillion won, up from 59.08 trillion won in the third quarter. Mobile phone sales accounted for 32.17 trillion won, which is 9-percent down compared to the previous quarter. Operating profits in the mobile sector were 5.47 trillion won, down by 18% compared to Q3 2013.
The company has reported operating profit of 36.79 trillion won for financial year of 2013, a 16.1% increase compared to 2012. We had over 30% worldwide market share in 2013, says the company, with two times more tablet sales compared to 2012, accelerated by the GALAXY Tab 3 and GALAXY Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) sales.
Demand for smartphones increased QoQ in both developed and emerging markets by the year-end or holiday and the demand for tablets increased with the expansion of global promotions. Samsung blames decrease in earnings in the mobile sector QoQ due to higher marketing expenditure in the season and other expenses.

Nokia is all ready to be acquired by Microsoft and it has probably held its final independent event at Abu Dhabi during late 2013. The CES 2014 was over a couple of weeks ago and there was no presence of the Finnish company. Nokia usually waits for the MWC to make itself known and it has sent out invites for this year's event confirming that it will be there to take wrap of a few devices.
The list of rumored products include the mini version of the company's latest flagship - Lumia 1520. The compact Lumia 1520 - called as Lumia 1520v by the rumor mill will share the same beasty internals along with a 4.3inch Full HD display, 3000mAh battery and 14MP camera. The other rumored Lumia smartphones are Lumia 1820 and Lumia 1525.
Among these highend devices is a rumor that many people wish to see in reality - Nokia Normandy. The Android powered mid-range smartphone from Nokia - it has been leaking for a while now. Samsung has started rolling out the Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) update for the Galaxy Note 3 in India. The Snapdragon-variant of the Note 3 got the Android 4.4.2 update, starting from Poland last week. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was launched in India back in September last year running on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). All the new Samsung Galaxy TabPRO tablet series runs on Android 4.4 out of the box.
The build number is N9005XXUENA6 and the firmware build is dated Thu, 14 Jan 2014 13:52:24. Official changelog doesn't reveal any new features. The update bring minor UI changes and under the hood improvements.

As you can see from the software update image above, the size of the over-the-air (OTA) update is 361.04 MB. Viber for Android has been updated to version 4.2 that brings new features including option to block any number or your stored contact, customize incoming call and message tones and lots more new features. Viber introduced, Viber Out, a new a new feature to its entire user base last month that lets you make calls to any landline or mobile number.
Viber was launched for Windows 8 last month and it rolled out for select Nokia Asha devices, the Asha 308, Asha 310 and the Asha 311 last year. It was updated to version 4.0 for both Android and iPhone last November that brought Sticker Market to download free and paid sticker packs, Android Tablet support and more. The Viber 4.1 in December that brought Viber Out feature.

BSNL, State Owned Telecom Operator and MTNL would launch new free roaming plans starting from January 26th, according to a recent report from TOI. Videocon Mobile Services was the first operator in India to offer incoming calls free while on roaming on their own network by default, without any processing fee or a special tariff voucher. It also launched new packs later that offer free incoming calls while roaming on other networks. Other operators joined in with cheaper roaming plans starting with free incoming calls while roaming.
MTNL would make incoming calls free while roaming on Delhi and Mumbai circles, where it operates, and BSNL is expected to charge Re. 1 per day to avail this facility. Vodafone introduced a similar offer last year that starts at Rs. 5 per day for free incoming calls while roaming.
The Cabinet had approved New Telecom Policy 2012 back in May 2012 that detailed on removing roaming charges across India under One Nation-Free Roaming. Last year TRAI said that providing free roaming is not possible since it would hit operators, so it recommended unlimited roaming through Special Tariff Vouchers (STVs) and Combo Vouchers.

Rumors about the LG G3 surfaced last month, which is expected only in the second half of 2014. As the MWC nears , more rumors have started flowing in about LG's upcoming devices. The LG G Pro 2 phablet with a 6-inch full HD display is expected to be unveiled next month, according to Korea's ETNews. The LG Optimus G Pro had a Snapdragon 600 processor and 2GB of RAM, the G Pro's successor is expected to come with a Snapdragon 800 processor, similar to the LG G2 and would have 3GB of RAM to compete with the Note 3. It would run on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box and have LTE-A support for select markets such as Korea.
Other details about the smartphone such as camera, Internal storage and the battery capacity are not available yet. It should probably have a better camera, more internal storage and a larger battery, since the phone would have a large screen. It might also bring new software features for better multi-tasking, similar to the Samsung's Multi-Window.

Micromax Canvas Turbo Mini A200 that was leaked recently, has been listed on Flipkart. It has a 4.69-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) display, powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It comes with dual SIM support with dual standby and packs a 1800 mAh battery.
According to the official renders, it looks this would also have a metal build, similar to the Canvas Turbo.

Micromax Canvas Turo A250 is the company's latest flagship, and the Canvas Turbo Mini A200 would launch soon. Micromax entered into the Russian market earlier this week with its Canvas line-up. It had also announced the Canvas Knight A350 in Russia, as reported by PCMag.Ru. It has a 5.0-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display, powered by a 2 GHz octa-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It features a 16-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Canvas Turbo was 8.66mm thick, but this would be much thinner at 7.3mm. Looking at the images, the phone is expected to come with dual SIM support, with slots on both the sides and a non-removable back cover. It would come with 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The phone would also come with Canvas Tube video app and Canvas Beat music app. A Russian forum has got hold of more press images of the phone, which shows the phone in Black and White colors.

As expected, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) has launched free incoming calls for their customers in Delhi and Mumbai. This would let them attend calls from any network for free of cost, without any packs while roaming between Mumbai and Delhi. The company launched new packs for free roaming last year in these circles for free roaming.
Regarding the new MTNL offer, Telecom Minister, Kapil Sibal, in his tweet, said,
Setting an example for "One Nation, One Rate" - Pleased to announce Free Roaming in Mumbai & Delhi, for MTNL's GSM customers.

Nokia has launched the second season of the Your Wish is my App contest, which will include consumers and developers from across the globe. It launched the first season back in December 2012. It lets you submit mobile application ideas that would be developed into successful apps for the Windows Phone Store, if it wins.

BlackBerry's popular instant messaging service, BBM, introduced voice calls support early last year to help it compete with more feature packed rivals. Alongside voice calls, it also brought in an interesting new Channels feature that lets users create groups to share content, location information. These features have so far been exclusive to BlackBerry devices.
We first spotted BBM Voice support for Android in the beta channels. Krishadeep Baruah, Senior Director of channel marketing in APAC for BlackBerry has now revealed that an update coming sometime next month will bring both the features to Android, iOS users. Revealed in an interview with the Times of India, Baruah also claims that video calling features too will be available across platforms later this year. BBM Voice will make it a compelling alternatives to the likes of Viber and Line given its sizeable userbase and popularity in India.
As the company's market share drops, it aims to create new revenue streams through private BBM channels. The report goes on to state that Indian brands like Airtel, Cafe Coffee Day and Gaana.com have already launched their channels. Expect to see the application being updated sometime next month. Powered by a blazing fast Tegra 4 chip and boasting of strong gaming credentials, the Tegra Note 7 promises the sky. But can it deliver? We find out in our review.
Hardware
The Tegra Note 7 as the name suggests is a 7inch tablet and incorporates a stylus that paired with Nvidia’s technology delivers some interesting experiences. Let’s start with the front of the tablet then.
Over at the front and center is the 7inch display. Flanking it on either side amidst rather large bezels are the stereo speakers which deliver loud and crisp audio. There is also a VGA camera up front which should do the job for a quick video call. We feel that Nvidia could have upped the quality here and should’ve included a higher quality snapper.
Moving over to the edges of the tablet, you get access to a microSD card slot, volume rocker. We’re not big fans of the open port design of the microSD card slot as it makes it more prone to dust accumulation and ...

LG Electronics has confirmed the G Pro's successor, the LG G Pro 2 after the rumors. This would be the company's next high-end smartphone in the G Series, after the G, G Pro and the G 2. LG has confirmed that the combined domestic sales of these three exceeded 1 million. The LG G Pro sales has crossed 100 thousand units in Korea, says.
LG did not reveal any specifications of the smartphone yet. According to earlier rumors, the G Pro 2 is expected to come with a 6-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, Android 4.4 KitKat and LTE-A support. LG is expect to reveal the complete details of the smartphone close to the launch.
LG has announced that it would go on sale in Korea next month, and the smartphone is expected to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) by the end of February.

Micromax forayed into Russian market last week and unveiled a range of smartphones in its Canvas and Bolt series. The company announced the Canvas Knight A350 with a 5-inch 1080p display in Russia, it would also launch the Canvas Tube A118R with a 5.5-inch display soon. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
It packs a 2300 mAh battery. No word on RAM and internal memory yet. The company has also launched the Canvas Beat A114R, the Canvas Social A94 and the Canvas LapTab in Russia.

Lenovo K7T (Kingdom) has surfaced in AnTuTu Benchmarks in China. After the Lenovo Vibe X and the Vibe Z smartphones with full HD display, the K7T would be the first smartphone from the company to sport a a 2K display with a resolution of 2560x1400 pixels. According to the leaked benchmark screenshot, it would come with 3GB RAM and a 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 GPU. It is expected to run on Android 4.4.1 (KitKat).
It would have a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, similar to the Vibe X and the Vibe Z. It would come with 16GB of internal storage. It would probably come with an expansion slot too. Details about the screen size and the battery capacity is not available yet. The upcoming Lenovo flagship is likely to come with a 6-inch 2k screen, similar to the Vivo XPlay 3S that was unveiled in China recently.
The Lenovo K7T is expected to be unveiled at the MWC 2014 at Barcelona next month.

Nokia is all ready to be acquired by Microsoft and it has probably held its final independent event at Abu Dhabi during late 2013. The CES 2014 was over a couple of weeks ago and there was no presence of the Finnish company. Samsung has started rolling out the Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) update for the Galaxy Note 3 in India. The Snapdragon-variant of the Note 3 got the Android 4.4.2 update, starting from Poland last week. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was launched in India back in September last year running on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). All the new Samsung Galaxy TabPRO tablet series runs on Android 4.4 out of the box.
The build number is N9005XXUENA6 and the firmware build is dated Thu, 14 Jan 2014 13:52:24. Official changelog doesn't reveal any new features. The update bring minor UI changes and under the hood improvements.

As you can see from the software update image above, the size of the over-the-air (OTA) update is 361.04 MB. The update would gradually roll out worldwide, so it might takes months for the roll out to complete. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy S3 are rumored to get the KitKat update by March-end.
Viber for Android has been updated to version 4.2 that brings new features including option to block any number or your stored contact, customize incoming call and message tones and lots more new features. Viber introduced, Viber Out, a new a new feature to its entire user base last month that lets you make calls to any landline or mobile number.
Viber was launched for Windows 8 last month and it rolled out for select Nokia Asha devices, the Asha 308, Asha 310 and the Asha 311 last year. BSNL, State Owned Telecom Operator and MTNL would launch new free roaming plans starting from January 26th, according to a recent report from TOI. Videocon Mobile Services was the first operator in India to offer incoming calls free while on roaming on their own network by default, without any processing fee or a special tariff voucher. It also launched new packs later that offer free incoming calls while roaming on other networks. Other operators joined in with cheaper roaming plans starting with free incoming calls while roaming.
MTNL would make incoming calls free while roaming on Delhi and Mumbai circles, where it operates, and BSNL is expected to charge Re. 1 per day to avail this facility. Vodafone introduced a similar offer last year that starts at Rs. 5 per day for free incoming calls while roaming.
The Cabinet had approved New Telecom Policy 2012 back in May 2012 that detailed on removing roaming charges across India under One Nation-Free Roaming. Last year TRAI said that providing free roaming is not possible since it would hit operators, so it recommended unlimited roaming through Special Tariff Vouchers (STVs) and Combo Vouchers.

Rumors about the LG G3 surfaced last month, which is expected only in the second half of 2014. As the MWC nears , more rumors have started flowing in about LG's upcoming devices. The LG G Pro 2 phablet with a 6-inch full HD display is expected to be unveiled next month, according to Korea's ETNews. The LG Optimus G Pro had a Snapdragon 600 processor and 2GB of RAM, the G Pro's successor is expected to come with a Snapdragon 800 processor, similar to the LG G2 and would have 3GB of RAM to compete with the Note 3. It would run on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box and have LTE-A support for select markets such as Korea.
Other details about the smartphone such as camera, Internal storage and the battery capacity are not available yet. It should probably have a better camera, more internal storage and a larger battery, since the phone would have a large screen. It might also bring new software features for better multi-tasking, similar to the Samsung's Multi-Window.

Micromax Canvas Turbo Mini A200 that was leaked recently, has been listed on Flipkart. It has a 4.69-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) display, powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It comes with dual SIM support with dual standby and packs a 1800 mAh battery.
According to the official renders, it looks this would also have a metal build, similar to the Canvas Turbo.

The Micromax Canvas Turbo Mini A200 comes in White and Blue colors and is priced at Rs. 14,490. It is currently out of stock at the moment and expected to go on sale next week.
Micromax Canvas Turo A250 is the company's latest flagship, and the Canvas Turbo Mini A200 would launch soon. Micromax entered into the Russian market earlier this week with its Canvas line-up. It had also announced the Canvas Knight A350 in Russia, as reported by PCMag.Ru. It has a 5.0-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display, powered by a 2 GHz octa-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It features a 16-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Canvas Turbo was 8.66mm thick, but this would be much thinner at 7.3mm. Looking at the images, the phone is expected to come with dual SIM support, with slots on both the sides and a non-removable back cover. It would come with 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The phone would also come with Canvas Tube video app and Canvas Beat music app. A Russian forum has got hold of more press images of the phone, which shows the phone in Black and White colors.

As expected, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) has launched free incoming calls for their customers in Delhi and Mumbai. This would let them attend calls from any network for free of cost, without any packs while roaming between Mumbai and Delhi. The company launched new packs for free roaming last year in these circles for free roaming.
Regarding the new MTNL offer, Telecom Minister, Kapil Sibal, in his tweet, said,

Design and Hardware
The speaker has a unique design and a solid build quality. It has several components such as aluminum for the front speaker grill, CNC machined aircraft grade brushed aluminum finish for the accents in the center, that extends to the back. It is compact with dimensions of 96.8mm x 169 mm x 33.25 mm, but it is quite heavy at 500 grams.

BlackBerry's popular instant messaging service, BBM, introduced voice calls support early last year to help it compete with more feature packed rivals. Alongside voice calls, it also brought in an interesting new Channels feature that lets users create groups to share content, location information. These features have so far been exclusive to BlackBerry devices.
We first spotted BBM Voice support for Android in the beta channels. Krishadeep Baruah, Senior Director of channel marketing in APAC for BlackBerry has now revealed that an update coming sometime next month will bring both the features to Android, iOS users. Revealed in an interview with the Times of India, Baruah also claims that video calling features too will be available across platforms later this year. BBM Voice will make it a compelling alternatives to the likes of Viber and Line given its sizeable userbase and popularity in India.
As the company's market share drops, it aims to create new revenue streams through private BBM channels. Hardware
The Tegra Note 7 as the name suggests is a 7inch tablet and incorporates a stylus that paired with Nvidia’s technology delivers some interesting experiences. Let’s start with the front of the tablet then.
Over at the front and center is the 7inch display. Flanking it on either side amidst rather large bezels are the stereo speakers which deliver loud and crisp audio. There is also a VGA camera up front which should do the job for a quick video call. We feel that Nvidia could have upped the quality here and should’ve included a higher quality snapper.

LG Electronics has confirmed the G Pro's successor, the LG G Pro 2 after the rumors. This would be the company's next high-end smartphone in the G Series, after the G, G Pro and the G 2. LG has confirmed that the combined domestic sales of these three exceeded 1 million. The LG G Pro sales has crossed 100 thousand units in Korea, says.
LG did not reveal any specifications of the smartphone yet. According to earlier rumors, the G Pro 2 is expected to come with a 6-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, Android 4.4 KitKat and LTE-A support. LG is expect to reveal the complete details of the smartphone close to the launch.

Lenovo K7T (Kingdom) has surfaced in AnTuTu Benchmarks in China. After the Lenovo Vibe X and the Vibe Z smartphones with full HD display, the K7T would be the first smartphone from the company to sport a a 2K display with a resolution of 2560x1400 pixels. According to the leaked benchmark screenshot, it would come with 3GB RAM and a 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 GPU. It is expected to run on Android 4.4.1 (KitKat).
It would have a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, similar to the Vibe X and the Vibe Z. It would come with 16GB of internal storage. It would probably come with an expansion slot too. Details about the screen size and the battery capacity is not available yet. The upcoming Lenovo flagship is likely to come with a 6-inch 2k screen, similar to the Vivo XPlay 3S that was unveiled in China recently.
The Lenovo K7T is expected to be unveiled at the MWC 2014 at Barcelona next month.
